Car interior wieght reduction

^Can't they just remove the rendering of carpets from the interior once the modification is done? Then again, are the carpets even noticeable in the game?

One thing I want done is changing the speedometer to an LCD type. My Corvette tuned would look much more business if the needles were replaced by the LCD, and keep the heads up display.

It isn't that simple. Ever looked at a car with a stripped out interior? It isn't just a flat piece of metal. There are many awkward shapes and cutouts and wiring looms passing through the car. Any car with a few bits of electronics quickly becomes a nightmare behind the dash. So it definitely is not easier than just leaving the carpet in there.

Easiest thing for PD to do is rather than replace bits, is to instead replace the texture of certain parts. IE. Carbon fibre instead of painted plastic for the center console, or a different seat and even a roll cage. It's a lot less work that way and still looks "tuned"

IF they wanted to do this, they should only doing when applying weight reduction stages (1 to 3) like in GT3 and GT4. That would be the only correct way. Not quick tune.

I think there is a car with stripped out carpets. I remeber I look back and all I could see is metal.

And about taking pictures, I do not know how to do it. I would do it with a camera, but it work as well.
There is a GT5P picture threads, few people have the hardware to take pics from screen, someone PM them to take few of the pics.
Front, rear. and side at least one side pic.

I was wondering...if we reduce weight by eliminating useless pieces in car interiors, will the game actually show a more racing like interior(no carpets, no stereo,no air conditioning, racing seats, roll bars)?💡
Merged with existing thread

Yeah Blitz ER34 D1 car, but that is how the car is in real life, wasn't modded like that within GT.

Oh yeah the Blitz.
About carpets, I don't care, too much coding and additinal work. But add-ons like mirrors, hoods, screens, gauges, different seats and shifters even will add a lot. Also what J-PaP wrote, just replace textures with Carbon Fiber, and it will look lighter.

You could probably get away with a few generic parts though that fit onto any car. ie. Recaro seats, mirrors, etc. Those parts would not really need to be tailored for each car as they have fairly generalised mounting points. But it would be a bit much having stripped out interiors modeled or even roll cages.

I've seen a (real life) 106 GTi with absolutely no interior, no dash or anything, just the driver's seat, the steering wheel & column and a shift light on a pair of wires... I wonder if we'd be able to pare the interiors down THAT much? Also, it would be pretty cool if, once sound deadening is removed, you could hear pebbles and other bits of debris being flicked up into your wheel arches.

you already see weight reduction happening in the interior of tuned gt5p cars.

GR custom racing steering wheel.

Visible roll cage.

Racing seats with 4 point harness styled racing seat belts.

custom Boost gauges(cappuccino tuned) custom oil and volts gauges(amuse 350z)
