Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 - Many DLCs Released

I don't really understand how the skill points work, until just now I was able to move to the next column along with each point I earned but then it stopped me from being able to unlock the electronic meter

I believe that's got something to do with the numbers at the bottom of that menu and one of the many numbers in the upper right corner of your screen. Every single upgrade has some form of level lock. Always annoying with that sort of system, but there you go.

..and yes, I can't say I haven't come across some weirdness..

..trust me, I am Master Mechanic Extraordinaire..

Also I see nothing wrong with having Los Santos Rock Radio playing even though driving isn't really a thing in this game.

It's still a bit of a buggy mess, but so was 2015 when it came out. I like the new features though and it feels more involved to work on a car now. The right-click menu is driving me nuts though, I wish I could map stuff to number keys.

Yeah, the launch version was.. far below ideal, though they seem to have fixed most of the bigger gameplay issues (i.e. parts disappearing or new parts not being new once applied to the car) already, so at least that's all being worked on.

It is going to take some time to get used to the new menu system, though I find I'm clicking wrong a lot less often already.

Also, I have a working theory that, in addition to the central bits of the engine apparently not being take-out-able, a Mazda RX-7 repair order has completely broken my legit profile. Oh well, at least I have Cheatsy Doodles Jr. to mess about with Junkyard and Barn Find stuff with.

It's such a shame it launched in the state it did, but it's rapidly improving - tonight I noticed they've added autosave, which is great, but I also noticed they haven't fixed the crash bug when using diagnostic tools on an engine that's on the engine stand.

Still, I'm enjoying the game, I do kind of wish it had a (very light) business management sim side to it like ETS2, with the ability to buy new garages with a showroom and stuff, also I would've absolutely loved VR support but I totally understand why they didn't go for that. I bought a barn find (only a Civic coupe-like), I love fixing a few bits on it between jobs. It feels like my car rather than my character's car, I haven't felt that in a game since GT4.

Seeing as it's now been a little less (i.e. a few hours) than a week since it launched, I thought I'd give an update on the situation for anyone on the fence:

The game, as far as I'm concerned, is pretty much in its final form by now. There might still be the occational bug here or there and the radio hasn't been turned back on yet (though that's apparently not far away), but the repair tools work as expected (even cleaning the chrome bits that were a bit troublesome earlier), there's no more parts missing from the shops (so yes, you can now complete that not-a-Mustang/not-a-2000GT you've kept in the back of the garage the last few days) and most of the major issues in general have been ironed out, thanks to round-the-clock work from the dev team and somewhere along the lines of two patches per day. Seriously. I want to see bigger dev teams care this much for their game.

The -10% intro discount thingy is running for another seven hours and a bit. If you haven't already, now's a good time to pick it up. Especially if your spirit animal is James May.

Yeah, I changed my review on Steam from not recommended to... Recommended yesterday, but immediately afterwards I ran into what looked like a game breaking bug! It was a story job, can't remember the car but it needed a new engine block. I replaced the block on the crane, rebuilt the engine, then when I tried to remove it it wouldn't come off. Turns out I just had to save, exit and continue but the first time it happened I quit without saving just in case.

But apart from that and not being able to put leather seats in my Civic coupe, it's undoubtedly in far better shape than it was on day one.

1.1.9. is out now, adding the race track and car salons into the game as well as the usual slew of bug-fixes.

They've also left a note in the Steam Community - part of the team is taking a few days off, which, considering they've been working for 14 hours a day for the last two weeks and hasn't seen much of their families lately, is completely understandable. Heck, I can hardly work 14 hours for one day, and these guys have been doing it since release!

None that I've caught wind of, no.

For anyone still looking to pick it up on Steam, the Silver Plus edition (base game + the three DLCs released thus far) is a reasonable 23% off. There's also the free (!!) Tuning DLC scheduled for Tuesday (and I've just found out I'm selected for the beta - god damn it Ubisoft your The Crew 2 beta is ruining my perfect betas-registered-for/betas-participated-in ratio). That, in addition to the already more-than-acceptable amount of official cars to tear apart and put back together, the amount of mods floating around the Steam community and the game being, the odd issues aside, bug-free, makes this as good a time as any to get it.

Is this coming to console FGGGK YES PLEASE god I hope so. I love watching youtubers play it and it looks awesome and I love cars .

It should at some point hit consoles. They probably want to get the rest of the bugs out though since pushing an update on consoles isn't as easy as pushing it through Steam.

Also, it looks like the Tuning DLC is out and it's free. I played around with it briefly last night and it's similar to CMS 2015. That's not a bad thing though. The licensed cars though can't be tuned, which seems about right since the licensing probably didn't include it.

Bought this game yesterday after playing it for "free" on Wednesday night.... Best $20 I spent on an indie! I love this game and dumped over 12 hours in it already I also bought the Pagani DLC and I'm impressed with it and the game! This game isn't talked about enough on these forums!:bowdown::D

That is actually a good point. It's just that there is quite a lot of other good games asking for my time right now. Which also explains why the OP hasn't been updated in forever

So, with all the many things that've been changed and released since I last did so - and because my save had descended into a bad collectathon of 200 Steam Workshop cars - I've decided to start from fresh. Well, aside from some slight cheating to get all the XP-grinding done. And I've bought my first project car:

Yes, much like all the other times I've restarted, it's a Bandit. But this one's got a 6-barrel. That can only be good once it's done.

I've been modding for this game for months.

..I thought that name seemed just a little familiar. A lot of good quality stuff, including a few.. I think "weird and wonderful" describes them about right

Personal pretend-story mode update: I've finished the Shiv I found in a barn, and, for reasons of why not, it's now got 10 gears and a theoretical top speed of ~500km/h and a 0-100km/h time of 4 seconds.

After I'd finished that, I went back to barn hunting, and I found.. well..

..another Shiv, and it even came in a similar color to mine. That one's been done up only to be sold for profit, though.

Does anyone know where I can find banner mods? I looked in the steam workshop but cant seem to find no banner mods there

Just want to let anyone know that some of the DLC's are on sale on steam a great time to pick them up i think ill pick up the mazda and dodge dlc possibly

I want to like this game, but I can't for only one reason. It runs badly on my pc. I've dropped the resolution down, turned all the visual effects either to minimum or off altogether, and I still only get 12 to 15 fps. It's not a basement level pc, Rocket League and War Thunder run well on midling settings, hell 2015 only starts stuttering with an overloaded inventory and some of the more detailed vehicles.

Try asking around the steam forum for help there's people who will give you helpful suggestions
