**CAR OF THE WEEK! Friday 6/04/12**

Anyone else bothered by the Martini logo? I know kids play this game, but I think the censorship is a bit silly.

I'll gladly pay double the asking price for a Marlboro McLaren!

My question is, how are kids supposed to know what martini is, and how will it bother them even if they do know what it is???

After driving that car, who doesn't need a drink?

Keep up the good work guys.

Finally got a chance to drive the latest COTW and it's great, a lightweight racing car in a rally car shaped body.

A trip to Route X first yielded a 0-60mph time of 2.645s and some neck troubling G of 1.39.

My usual COTW trip round the Ring next with some Racing Softs on and a posted lap time of 7:13.803.

I did try the 650PP A spec seasonal round the ring as well to see how the Lancia fared against some higher powered opposition and I finished a creditable 3rd after some hairy moments in a time of 7:10! Breezed past some GT500 cars easily with the Lancia's top speed of about 180mph and blistering acceleration.

All in all a great drive and a good reminder to us all of the mad Group B 80s.

I'think is a question of licences, Martini may don't like to be in GT, I used to play SCAR wich included the Alfa Romeo 155 of Martini Racing and the Martini logo was "censored"

Nice pics iainn congratulations ;)

Actually the reason for the lack of Martini logos and the like is if they had the logos in the game, it would have to have a "Mature" rating.

I guess over protective parents are afraid that their kids will see the logos and suddenly start drinking Martinis and smoking Silk Cut tobacco.

I didn't thought about that, you're right ;). Everyday you learn new things 👍.
Cheers!

Not trying to start an argument but I'm wondering if there might be another explanation here. Money and licensing agreements.

We don't have Monaco in the game we have Cote D'Azure because PD couldn't or wouldn't make the agreements needed for the actual track. While close it isn't exact. So I'm wondering if the same applies to the liveried cars to some extent. I can make a car in the right colors and very close to the actual paint scheme, but if I don't put the sponsors logo on then there is no need for a licensing agreement. Saves a lot of paperwork and money.💡

You make a good point, it's probably somewhere in the middle. An example for your point is the Stratos Rally Car, which should have the Alitalia logo, an airline. I doubt an airline would raise a video game's rating, so that probably is a licensing issue.

But I do know for a fact the reason they can't have beer and tobacco logos is due to the video game rating system. A good example of this is one of the NASCARs (I can't remember which one) having a small "Coors Light" logo that's been scrambled out.

Edit: I did a little research, and it turns out that as of 2008 Alitalia now is a totally different company from the old Alitalia company. That explains why there's an "Alitalia" logo on the Stratos in GT4 but a "Polyphony Digital" logo in GT5.
