CARS - The features that set it apart

It doesn't make any sense to me -- having the camera automatically look into the corner throws off my frame of reference, and the auto-focusing blur has nothing to do with where I want to look at a given moment -- but I'm all for the option being there. :)
My personal thought on this is, yes the camera pan is awkward at first, but for circuits with tight angled/banked corners, green hell comes to mind, I can't even see where I'm turning the car, so the camera pan is very helpful and the motion blur helps add to the urgent and intense feeling of driving a rolling death trap at high speeds.

Like it would in real life lol

Okay, but for example, if I were to start a race and I would follow someone too closely would my engine begin to overheat? Or is this feature mainly triggered by accidents or crashing? Also would the engine fatigue if I raced a number of races without refreshing the motor?

I obviously haven't played the game, but I'm trying to understand this feature. I think it'll be interesting, but I have no idea how it works.

If you were to crash in a front engined car you could damage the radiators which lead to overheating. You can also close the ducts u
Too much and cause it to overheat. Weather will change the temp the engine runs at.
You don't refresh engines or anything like that in the game.

Thank you for the information. I think I have a better grasp of how this feature will work. Like for example, running off track can build up the debris on the front of the car which can block the radiator air flow. I think this is going to be an awesome feature.

Would like to see a link to the source for the crane picking up cars from the gravel..
It was an idea but i doubt it will ever appear due to the specs of the consoles being lower than intionally expected. The games already having to compromise for the consoles.

It has nothing to do with the consoles specs. There is not much computing power needed to do this, it is basically just a flexible path animation. It is an :censored:load of work to program this and make it work well, so dont expect this for release.

Whoa! Great thread.

One question. For the 24 Hours of Lemans, can that race be completed by multiple Series? Is it a multi-class race? During the Career mode, as I move up, can I compete in it as a GT3 Driver, GT4. LMP2 and LMP1?

Same question for the other multi-class Endurance Races (Dubai, Spa, Nurburgring, etc.)?

Will I be responsible for all 24 hours? Will there be AI co-drivers?

Thanks in advance.

IIRC you can change/choose which class you want to race in once you're done with the event and want to do it again/take part in it in the next racing season.

I could be wrong though, it'd be best to ask a active WMD member.

That race is multi class yes and there will be LMP1, LMP2, GT3 and GT4 cars competing there but I'm not sure if you can choose the class that you desire.

Does the race come up through various careers? Eg. Does it come up in a GT3 career and and LMP career?

@FLX1981 and @Willfred_1 are WMD I'm pretty sure... Hey guys! Crowhop has a question that needs answering :)
Yeah, sorry. I'm really late to the pCARS party.

In a way I am glad though. I only have a few months of hype left. You folks have been waiting well over a year now. Only thing is I wish I could have invested. I'd have put up $100 for a game like this. Easy.

Frankly, I dont know neither. Havent tried the career that far because I want to keep some surprises for myself too after release and I dont know the 60+ (or was it 80+?) page career design pdf word by word. :D

There are some more WMD members here who might know, though. Calling @Timppaq @LogiForce @DG_Silva @DrJustice :gtpflag:

Just like you I haven't touched the career mode either. In the beginning it was too incomplete and buggy and than I quickly forgot about it and have stuck with free practice, time trail and quick races basically since the start of the project.

So you can scratch this WMD member for any career related questions I'm afraid. Sorry. :(

I don't think there are any of the people who are testing a lot of the career mode here on gtp. I'm kind of in the same boat. Maybe complete a championship or two before having to reset my profile and get the save wiped (something you need to do pretty much at least weekly because you get new builds very often).

I'm not sure but I will go and have a look.

I'm in exactly the same position. I have tried the karts at the start of the chain, and the career runs pretty well, but as others have said; one, I don't to play too hard into because I want something to play when I get my hands on the finished title; and secondly, because having to delete the profile every build means I lose my save game.

And the same applies to me too. Won't touch career seriously until after release. 👍

But could you guys get an answer to that? It's a pretty good question. As a hardcore sports cars fan, I would love to know how the game will handle endurance series.

you have gt endurance and lemans style endurance
gt stuff is often an hour to a few hours of gt3 and gt4.
Lemans style can last longer.
cars are as follows for the series i have done.
real world - in game
lmp1- lmp1
lmp2- lmp2
gt pro- gt3
gt am- gt4

The console versions will be able to handle up to 16 different cars on track, and the PC can handle 48 (I think, dependent on memory and 64-bit version of windows).

16 different cars? For multiplayer or singleplayer?

If singleplayer, Im guessing thats at least 16 teams with 2 cars each = 32 cars?

16 different cars for both modes. Bear in mind that you could have 4 cars with different liveries, and thus omit another model. And yes, you are right with the 2 cars from each marque, not necessarily the same team.
