Chances of Ferrari, Porsche, Lambo's

I was wondering if there would ever be a chance of Gran Turismo Series licensing the ferrari, porsche and lamborghini names to be used in games. I know the major competition games such as forza motorsports and project gotham for XBOX have them, but why not GT4. I believe if they have Lemans Touring Cars Such as M3 GTR, Pagani Zondas and BMW LMR The Ferrari cars are fit to be in teh game as well. And for my wishlist:::

Auto customization, such as exterior (Paint, Small Skirt (Body Kits) Package Add Ons, and Decals)

Drag Strip Track, so that when we face in 2Player mode, there is a true area where we can test speed comparisons properly...

Customize Music, HOPEFULLY PS3 will have the harddisk so we can use it for customized music, cause the ish they have right now is just plain crap to me.
 
Theres a slightly higher chance of Ferrari, Porsche and Lambo with each passig GT now, the only reason they wern't in GT4 was there wasn't enough budget left for the licesnes and Sony wern't willing to fork out extra for them since it wouldn't turn out enough extra profit in game sales.

Customisation is something Kaz has said he's interested in, I think it will be expanded on in GT5 but I wouldn't like to say how much by.

I would expect the drag strip to make it into the game proper next time, PD screwed up GT4 simple as.

And with the PS3 being the home media center it says it will be I'd expect to be able to store music on the HDD or memory sticks to customise the sound track, theres no reason not to include that feature.
 
At this point, it's impossible to say. Mainly because we simply don't know what's going on, what the process is for acquiring those licenses, and what each of the companies is doing to get them.

We probably won't know until PD starts releasing real GT5 screenshots. I'm sure that, if they have the cars, they'll be advertising it from the start.
 
I don't really care about Ferraris and Lambos. While it would be alright to thrown a Modena or Gallardo around downtown New York, their presence in GT5 wouldn't make me rush out and buy it. Plus, the manufacturers probably aren't keen on having people modify their cars.
 
Yes, there is a bigger chance. But remember, with a NEW GT, there's also a chance of getting other manufacturers than just them and McLaren.

I mean, how many of YOU actually HEARD of Hommell before GT4? GT is known for bringing in new manufacturers many never heard of (ex. Vector, Venturi, etc.).

But before they get on new manufacturers, how about some new cars from the manufactures already in the game? Maybe a Mercedes SL73, Chevrolet C5, Viper Competition Coupe, or hell, bring back manufacturers and cars?

While I'd love new manufacturers and the big 3, I'd actually like to see more cars come back and cars from the current GT manufacturers than ALL NEW vehicles.
 
I certainly would love to cruise around in a Lamborghini Countach, and it would deffinetly make me want to buy the game straight away.

I am getting a PSP, so I will be waiting a few years for a PS3.

I hope they put some new cars in GT Mobile.

Gallardo is like the poor man's Lamborghini.. yeah it's still awesome but Diablos, Murcialago's, and Countaches are better.

Porsche is basically already in the game, it's RUF. And for Ferrari, I'd say only a select few, Testa Rossa, F430, only the good stuff. :dopey:

Uh, I heard of Hommell long time ago and I knew about Vector M12 and Venturi 400GT before GT2 came out. I was impressed by the Vector M12 and Venturi 400GT in GT2, but I was not impressed by any of the *new* manufacturers that GT4 brought into play that other games didn't have. I am impressed by number of P1/GT1/LMP cars that they've brought into play however.

I don't have a problem with RUF itself being labelled as a Porsche. My problem with RUF in the game is that it doesn't make up for that many Porsches.

RUF RGT -> 996 Turbo / 996 GT3 ok
RUF 3400S -> Boxster S ok
RUF BTR -> older 911 Carrera/Turbo ok
RUF CTR -> older 911 Turbo ok
RUF CTR2 -> 993 GT2 ok

But how about the 959? The Dauer Porsche 962C? The 944 Turbo? The older '78 911 Turbo? And then how about that awesome 911 GT1? All of these are present in Forza, and the 959 and the older 911 Turbo and 911 GT1 as well are present in PGR2. Fact of the matter is, simply RUF in GT5 won't make up for a 911 GT1 or a 959 or a 956 Race Car or a 962 Race Car.
 
Because Rufs are not d*mn Porsches.
Rufs only use base 911 Coupe chassis and the Boxster chassis.

They don't do 911 GT1 or 959 chassis...Why? Because they don't build or tune the d*mn Porsches.

Ruf is a company of its own. They won't build every freaking Porsche chassis out there.

Ruf is an independent company. They only have Porsche chassis frames. That's it.
They are not a substitute for Porsche.

But not everyone has. Many people I've introduced to GT now know more about the manufacturers.
 
With the number of JGTC/SuperGT cars being added each installment, we may just see some of the series' exotics in GT5, even though they are not top competitors.
 
I haven´t seen Lamborghinis in Forza.

And Forza does only have only 3 (the two M3 GTR I Count as ONE) BMW Race Cars NO street cars.

I want Porsches in GT5. Ferrari and Lamborghini is not so important to me.

I've read at IGN that they might not release it, but i could say that a Porsche GTR might be relaesed for Eurpeon race i guess

After letting this thread run, time for me to sound off. This will likely come down to money and getting the licenses. Usually a person would say that the reason Ferraris and such wouldn't make nice fits in GT games is Ferrari wouldn't want to see an Enzo get beaten by a Skyline. I don't own an XBOX, probably never will anytime soon, so don't ask me about having better satisfaction with Forza and such only to race the bigtime European exotics. I do feel that Gran Turismo does bring out most car companies many people never heard of or aren't too experienced with. The only way I'd know of TVR is if I British and living in a place like Birmingham, Leicester, or some place. I'm Texan, but never heard of Texas's own Chaparral brand. So, there's many companies I don't know too much about, as much as I know about car companies. This may sound like something you'd hear in elementary school, but you can never stop learning.

Then to Porsche and Ferrari. And if you ask me, chances seem favorable. Even if they made it into the next GT, I wouldn't be too concerned. Like I say, what's more important- a good racing game, or a few extra car companies? I'm not going to come up with an 8-page listing of bigtime European exotics I'd like to see in the game. Regardless, if there are the European exotics, I'm okay. If not, I'm still okay. Only other reason why I really wouldn't care is because I think people are going to associate Ferraris and Porsches with "finally, something to race other than Kei cars and Skylines!" or even "finally, some fast and capable cars to race with so I don't have to worry about going slow all the time."

As far as chances of seeing them go, I'd rate it as 45% they'd show up. If not, carry some Kleenexes. Or for the rest of us, if they don't show up in the next GT, don't worry. Doesn't make a game better to have such car companies in the game in the first place.
 
Well, one of the draws of cars like that is being able to race something super-fast, without having to beef it up to totally unrealistic levels.

When I drive a car in GT, I want to be driving that car. When you buy a Skyline R34, strap a Stage 4 Turbo on it, new suspension, brakes, transmission, racing tires, all these engine upgrades, NOS, etc... at that point, it's not really a Skyline anymore, is it? Sure, it looks like a Skyline.. but it's not. It's essentially a low-end race car with a Skyline body thrown over it.

Whereas with a supercar like the Enzo, you get race-car performance in a normal road car (and I mean cars that were designed to be road cars, not race cars that have been made road-legal, like the R390). Something I find highly enticing, since I prefer my cars stock. GT has a few cars like that.. Zonda, ZZII.. but an Enzo would wipe the floor with the lot of them.

and am surprised that its taken this long, i would have thought they would have pushed to be part of something as big as GT.

To have a sim so well thought out and realistic and to not include the three perhaps most evocative names in the world is an injustice, Ruf to me are great but i would imagine that there is a similarity to what they do with a Porsche chassis and engine as there is in what Brabus do with Mercedes, Alpina do with BMW etc, take a great car and tune it to your own individual style which is great, but i would imagine there is a purity and fluidness just waiting to be discovered with Ferrari and Porsche that years of refining has brought about.....

Added to that the three companies racing heritage and they must be included, and i think the GT engineers would give them a very accurate representation. I have heard before that Porsche have said as long as there is Ferrari there will always be a 911, and wondered if the two companies just wouldnt want to be outdone on a racing sim/game perhaps, but i think they are big enough to cope with that.....we will see....hopefully!
 
Ferrari according to Kaz wanted to be in GT4 but because it was so late in development before the liceses became availalbe my guess is they ran out of budget and Sony wasn't willing to increase it. At the end of the day the reason they wern't in GT4 is becasue Sony didn't offer the cash for them.

That's what GT/Saloon racing is all about though. Taking a road car (usually a performance model) and modifying the hell out of it to make it a race car. Besides, good luck finding a stock GTR Skyline 👍.

It's no secret that Clarkson has a bit of a soft spot when it comes to Ferrari, he was quick to point out that it wasn't in the game.

"So I rang a Ferrari spokesman who explained that his company was fantastically litigious and protective of the cars, the racers and even the noises they make. And that they already have a deal with EA Games."

WTF? What about all the other games that have Ferrari? I also found the whole "protective of their image" thing a bit confusing.. I mean, of ALL the games out there, which one is most likely to portray the cars in the most realistic way? And yet that's the one game that they haven't allowed Ferrari into.

I'm starting to get the sinking feeling that us Playstation owners are probably going to get the shaft again next-gen. Assuming we get ANY games with Ferrari, it'll probably end up being some craptastic arcadey EA street racer instead of a real racing game.
 
Which is a different answer Ferrari gave last year and Sony gave this year. That clears things up a bit.
 
Sounded like a packaged answer to me, probably read off of a memo sent to all their employees.

EA is clearly not the only person who has the license. Test Drive, PGR, Forza.. none of those are EA games.

I wish PD would just give us a straight answer. Either they have the license or they don't. All I want is a screenshot with an F430 or something, that'll answer all our questions in one go.
 
It would be embarrasing for PD and aggravating for us to admit the reason why the greatest racing game doesn't have the greatest manufacture is because Sony is cheap.

Not really, the license became available late last year, towards the end of GT4's production. By that time I'd guess the budget would be used maybe alreay exeeded and from a business pint of view they've already spent xxx ammount on the game, how much more games will be sold by spending xxx ammount more on it. It's a no brainer from a business perspective, Ferrari won't shift many more copies than will sell regardless so maybe in GT5 when the license will be available from the off, they can budget for them.
