can you fit a frex QuickRelease wheel side Ver.2 on your steering wheel? (I am thinking of getting a new steering wheel because my speedstre 3 has broke and i wud like to put one of these on my new steering whee ao i am looking to see if it fits on any other steering wheel apart from a dfp!!!!)

http://www.frex.com/gp/

Most likely not, because from what I know about their products, of which I have the DFP conversion wheel, Shifter+ & Handbrake+, the quick-release is only going to fit those wheels that you see on their web site, which is only the Logitech DFP & Microsoft FFB...however, contacting Frex at gp@frex.com & addressing the email to Shige should result in a confirmation response as to what additional wheels the QR (Quick Release) will fit on.

Hope this helps?

aha, so i name the email shige?

i wanna know if the williams f1 can be used .

Shige is the name of the individual over at Frex who responds to all customers inquiries, so it's best to address your email to him specifically when asking questions about Frex products.

Hope this helps?

Hey SRD, the link to your racing simulator isnt working :(
I've seen it before but I forgot what it looks like lol.

Try copying/pasting this link into your browser to see if the pic comes up:

www.freewebs.com/raymejr/raceframepro.jpg

NOTE 1: If you try and click on the link, for some reason, it's going to indicate a invalid URL and bring you to some type of default page here on GTP????

NOTE 2: It's not a current pic of my setup though....I'm still working on those! :)

Well heres my attempt at a cockpit. I spent $22 at the pick-a-part for the seat and about $15 in lumber. I have a 5.1 surround system not being used in my garage that i will hook up, I have been confined to this little space by my wife so i have to make do. Its not hooked up yet cause i'm having probs with my petels and am working on them atm. Ive never even used a steering wheel so this will be a whole new game for me! Also i'm going to start using the shifter, i've played GT1-3 and 60.9% of GT4 on auto. I cant wait!

The stick shifter takes a surprisingly small amount of getting used to. Id done all f the GT games up til about 55% in gt4 using auto and I adapted to the stick shifter in like 2 days.I used to keep watching for the little blinking red light but now I can get it perfect almost every time from listening to the engine noise.

I have an old school desk... You know, the chairs with the table attachment... I had to make a few minor moifications... I'll put some pics up as soon as I get home. (Currently on vacation, will be home 2morrow)

well heres the finished cockpit. Its a very ruff example done without any plans, just an idea. It cost me $20 for the seat and about $15 for the lumber. I got the DFP from a friend for free. The pedals stopped working and he was going to actually throw it away! He never returns anything. The tv and surround system came from a neighbor that moved and didnt sell them in a yard sale so he gave them to me and they were sitting in my garage not being used. The cockpit is very stable and it makes the game so much more fun. I put the center channel speaker under the wheel, it fit perfect, and the sub works great behind the seat.

I haven't pics of my cockpit, but I put my Driving Force wheel on my Desk... put my desk between 1 or 2 meters from the tv (big screen)... I sit in a chair with wheels (sorry i'm from Holland dunno how to call in it in english) it's quite uncomfortable after a while but I often take a break so I don't get pain in the back... All those things to put a wheel with FFB on ur lap doesn't work good, the wheel has to much power :D

Does anybody remember the guy who cut the feets of a cheap and simple Ikea chair. I would love to find it again, I still think it is a great idea for a basic cockpit?
Is there anybody out there who remember in which thread it was?

Yes It's a little bit hard to get into the cockpit... It's hardgaming...

XLERATOR
I found this Web site that has everybodies links that make stands.
By far the best model on the market for the DFP wheel is the Xlerator Wheel Stand!

http://www.xleratorwheel stands.com (best one) 👍

http://www.virtualroadster.com/links.htm (links to many stands)

XLERATOR....the links in that second one are ****ing AWESOME. Wow, talk about an invaluable list! They links to cockpits that I didn't even know were out there and for sale. Places that don't even show up in Google even if you type in "Racing Cockpit".

Hey all.

i've just finished reading the 42 pages of this thread... great ideas i've seen, and some of you had the same ideas as i did.

I've posted my cockpit before but this seems to be the mother thread of all cockpit threads.

Mine costs is about 75$ US.

It's meant to be as realistic as possible, considering the materials i used, which was wood!

Strangely, i haven't seen anyone with a similar setup where the TV sits on the rig.

Also, most of you guys are so far away from the TV, i don't understand that. Myself, i wan't to be as close as possible, hence my setup. When the TV is too far or too small, i just can't race the thing, it's just not realistic enough. I will get a bigger screen, my 27 inch is too small.

At the moment, there are a lot more sponsor stickers on it, some of them are originals but some of them i made myself using 3M sticker rolls and an X-acto. most of them i take from the game, the first i made was the "Magneti Marelli" logo you can see all over the game.

Comments welcomed.

Cool like yor setup Radikal, keep meaning to get a wheel and make a pod love what youv'e done with the pedals.

Where did you get that hat from, i want one or you could sell it to me :sly: 👍 👎

Well, i didnt do much with the pedals... i just screwed them to the rig, made the left part to be leveled with the pedal system and installed carpet over the thing. Basicaly, they are just covered with the carpet.

You wan't my hat? What hat? i see no hat on my pics! :)

You could probably adjust the deadzones for it if the box does get in the way. You can adjust the wheel and pedal deadzones in RD2. Dont think you can in any of the GT games but then again i've never tried.

- makes me dizzy (personally)
- radiation = cancer (even though the TV may be shielded to a certain extent)
- loss of vision after several hours that close to the screen (seen something about this in my TV manual somewhere?)

the reason why I don't have the TV any closer then 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 feet away from my cockpit... plus it simulates having a hood, with the gap from TV to cockpit. having it any closer would make it feel like my cockpit would be in the engine bay of the car during game play. also my TV isn't just dedicated to playing games I also watch on it too :)

great job on the cockpit you've made, keep up the good work! 👍

I personally have my TV just under one-arms length away (3 & 1/2 feet about) from my sim setup...this way here, I still get the feeling of 'speed', and yet not jeapordizing my eyesight! ;-)

Over the past couple of days R34JSE has gotten more use out of my cockpit than me. It's all down to my injury though which i'm sure anyone in the WRS has read about in this weeks race thread. I dont wanna bring it up again lol.

Hey SRD, how come the link to your cockpit isnt in your sig anymore? And when can you get a pic of the updates you've made to it?

rsmithdrift
Hey Radical, can you get full throttle and full braking with that pedal set up? it looks like the box would stop it short.

Thats just becaus you don't see under the "dashboard" :) there is plenty of room. The plywood holding the TV is set at an angle (The TV was leaning back on a straight surface) so there is more space in the back then in the front. Also, the plywood holding the steering is a little lower, thus the illusion.
