If transport is an issue, have you tried ebay? - i'm sure you could get something decent delivered for $35.

I tried a couple of weeks ago, all good chairs where above 200$
will check it out again.

edit: I found a nice aluminium relax chair for just 7.5$ within 10 km!

2nd edit: I found a nice car chair for 25$ a lil bit later, me love ebay!

Im in the middle of designing my cockpit but i need some help making a seat out of wood. My cockpit is the style of on F1 car so your are pretty much lying on the ground. Any ideas or pics would b great. Ill try and post some pics of my design.

I would advise against being right on the ground. You WILL get sick and tired of getting up/out down/into it. Think of all of the bathroom and drink breaks... you wanna be able to ingress/egress easily. Just MHO.

Well here it is:

costs:

Money and time. the Dfp costs 100$ on the net. The seat is pulled from a Honda CRX, so it costs 25 $. the wood and bolts around 15$. It took me a couple of hours to put the table together and to put the wood under the chair.

And it was worth all the struggle. I really feel much difference between the DS2 and the wheel. It drives nice. it's worth the money IMHO. :)

Now I just need to find a good spot in my room to put it and give it a nice paint(black? white? I can't choose..)

I can't find the picture that inspired me (it was somewhere on this forum), but here's what I built this week.
I tilted the whole thing back a little so the steering wheel is straight in front of the driver and almost vertical. The seat cost $5 and is from a 1990 Honda Prelude.
It needs some cable management, paint, and somewhere to put a pint glass. But it feels great driving it. I re-raced the FR series in Beginner with a '71 Nissan 240ZG last night, and I'm loving this setup.
This is cockpit #2; now I'm ready to go head-to-head on two systems. Woo-hoo!👍

It needs some cable management
I can't think of a better way to manage cables than this one. It is "GardnerBender" FLX-5007, split flex tubing. I found it at Home Depot in their computer cable section, so nearly everyone in North America should be able to find it locally. It is far too expensive for what it is, though.

USBHub014.jpg

It makes one bundle out of all of your wires and it can easily let wires break out from the bundle, such as for the pedal box or the USB hub, or to add/remove wires (if they aren't twisted around each other inside it). Once my bundle is permanently set, I could cut the flex tubing and make it even more neat.

The 4-port USB hub is connected to the console's port 2 and the picture shows a keyboard, chat headset and MP3 player (picture transfers) attached, leaving one more port open. you can see a short USB extension cable, to use the fat MP3 player, too.

You need the right hub, too, so use something like these (2 for $10 CDN / 2 for $7 US).

It will keep all of the wires aligned properly.

Cheers,

MasterGT

Here is my first attemped at making a cockpit. Let me know what you guys think. Any ideas to make it better or inprove it are more then welcome. Im not sure yet how im going to attach the pedals or the shifter. I like the pedals were they are i think. I also nedd ideas on a seat that i could use. Im not totally done yet sone any ideas would help. I also need to some how make the pedal lengths adjustable so my son can use it to. Thanks

OMG!!! i noticed that you have a clutch pedal! where on earth did you find a steering wheel & pedal set that actually had a clutch pedal? I've never, ever, seen a set that actually had a clutch pedal! That's so freakin' awesome!:dopey: 👍 I drive a manual:sly: so naturally i want the closest thing possible to the feel of driving the real thing w/o actually leaving my room.

Heres mine The seat hiehgt and forward and back is adjustable.
Dont laugh at my wheel, I have a G25 on order...

Simple, maybe crude, but nice, I'm using an MC2 also, except I haven't attached the wheel. (sits on my knees) How did you attach the wheel housing to the wood?

Here is mine. I had forgotten to angle the steering wheel slightly forward but other than that, this is my cheap cockpit.

P.S. Yes that fishing chair hurts my a$$ after 10 minutes. I use a pillow as a cushion.

Unfinished but something to use while i build a steel frame with bucket seat with maybe a buttkicker gamer (i hope its powerful enough)

Needs to be lightened. Holes cuts from sides and underneath, a little off the top as well.Ive just been proping the pedals up using whatever for now. I really just wanted something to get a general idea of dimensions for when i do the more expensive steel frame. The shelf that holds the shifter is cut to the same shape as it, even though you cant see it in the pic and the contour of the frame is actually quite comfortable for resting your arm along. Not that you would while actually using it mind you.
The seat is from a levin that i picked up for $20 at a wrecker(only mark is 1 cigarete burn) and the wood is all old shelving from work after we refit our kitchen and we reused the screws.

lots!!! go look around the automotive forums, try and find the skyline fanclub thread, theres heaps in there(one personally know s reece mcgreger):)
