I'll be happy with my 45.633, damn.

The 2X is mentally fast, but having to keep the finger pressed on the X button and pulling back the right analog stick to brake at the same time is quite hard to get used to. Totally worth it tho.

I think the main problem with the 2X is that the engine isn't capable of keeping the car at cruise speed - you will be either applying throttle and accelerating or not applying throttle and decelerating.

Using a DS3 controller, my settings were Active Steering strong, Active Stability Management 1, Controller Sensitivity at 6, got a final time of 45.892, used left analog stick for steering, X for acceleration and square for braking. Even when applying the brake, i stayed pressing X so to not get off the gas.

I don't know what to say... This stuff would be perfect in Star Wars, but we are in GT6, right?

I needed to do a few laps before getting gold, I admit, but I don't think I will insist to improve my time. This UFO will end at the back of my garage gathering dust together with the X1 and the karts.

I am a bit disappointed though, I expected a pleasant surprise, but the target is missed in my opinion. And besides the sound is awful.

Long live 2J and 2D! :)

what rubbish car. Can give us this and VGT cars, but what about proper real cars? sorry for rant, tired, fed up with trying to get this car round clean lap on DS3.🤬

:gtpflag:
Agree with you 100%. And even worse, you cant even sell the car. Needless to say I deleted this wanna be Red Bull trash

A UFO. :bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

The trick with the full throttle worked and finally managed to get gold by 6 thousands, 45:994 :/ I'm done with this time trial for sure. Had to ease the frustration of losing the last two hours of my life and took my fully tuned RB X2011 for a ride around the same track. Clocked 34,6 after 10 minutes, that was fun :)

Thanks @Tentakel I finally achieved gold with time of 0:45.902... DS3 of course.

Using ASM and ABS 1 and not throttling when straight-braking, only after starting turning I started to push full throttle.

Hi,
matched the gold time with a DS3 at 45.979.
Tried a lot, my best results: Hole lap on full throttle, even if you are breaking. I was about 1.5 sec. faster then my times with 'normal' driving. Braking earlier, but much faster IN the corner. And ASM on.
Maybe it helps also others, don't think that i am a very good driver^^.
The best I managed with conventional driving was 46.005 after about an hour and half of lapping, with your tactics I gained enough time in the final corner to get gold within 5 laps. đź‘Ť

It's a real shame that there are two different Chaparral VGT cars. One for those with wheels and one for those on DS3's because this car looks like it could've been something special.

:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 46.255 and that took me ages,i'm sure i will eventually get there, well maybe....so more of this to come 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

This car is awesome! But because of the way it works it requires you to learn a new cornering technique.

The laser is actually not just providing forward thrust, but also quite a bit of downforce. In a normal car you can lift the throttle to make the weight shift forward and provide better traction to the front tyres, but in the Chaparral the front will actually lose traction when you lift the throttle. At that point you might dab the brakes to try and shift more weight forward, but because the weight is already shifted forward and because the front tyres are using all its available traction to try and turn the car (to little success if you go too fast), applying the brakes will only reduce the traction even further and the car will just plow forward and off the track. That is almost the opposite to how a normal car behaves in corners and I think that is why so many experience that the car doesn't want to turn at all.

The proper way to corner with this car is to do the following:

1. Brake hard before the corner. The brakes are excellent so you can actually brake pretty late. It's important to stay on the brakes until the car has slowed down enough. It's better to brake too much than too little. The more you practice the better you'll get at judging how much is "enough".
2. Release brakes and then turn in.
3. If it's a long corner you might want to dab the throttle a bit to give the car a few puffs of downforce. Don't brake mid corner, if you feel like you're understeering - try the throttle instead.
4. When you've turned in far enough, accelerate out of the corner. This will push the car down so you'll be able to keep a tight line and carry a lot of speed out of the corner.

The hardest part about driving this car is to remember all that. A lot of times you have to make split-second decisions and the knee-jerk reaction is shaped by how a normal car would behave.

cant get better then 49.086

got the car and stuff the time. disappointing car though, expected a much nicer car to drive but instead were all left with a poop of a car. in fact id prolly enjoy driving poop more. does Chevrolet need to re-call this?

The laser is actually not just providing forward thrust, but also quite a bit of downforce.

Somebody did their homework. I remembered about the upward thrust provided by the engine only when taking photos of the car after golding the event.

Remember the RB X2014 Standard with its blown diffuser? This is basically a squared blown diffuser. You lift the throttle, bam, no downforce.

I for the life of me, can't figure this car out. After 8 disqualified runs, I finally manage a lap, in the 47.5s, about 1-2 seconds behind friends that I'm normally 3-4 seconds ahead of. My lap put me in 11,229th place. Yikes!

I've been worrying about getting slower and worse over time. Entered the Infinity TT, after just my 3rd lap with this combo, following no ghosts or aware of what the leaderboards are like, found I already made it up to 13th, and the next lap put me in 8th, and there's easily another half a second out there for me.

It's never taken me more than a few laps to figure a car out, but this, I have no idea.

Yea, it does have some rather weird handling characteristics. I still don't completely have it figured out as I was just mostly along for the ride on my little stint. It was like I was just hanging on for dear life hoping for the best. Luckily, success came pretty quickly......somehow.
