Sony MDR-7506. Supposedly some of the best you can get, period. So far, they seem pretty damn spectacular.
Those are the ones that my dad has, that's why he recommended I get these. He also got me some beyerdynamic velour ear pads, which are fantastic.I've owned a pair of the MDR-V6 (the consumer/prosumer version of the same headphones) and I've been very happy with them myself, though I wouldn't mind trying the Audio Technicas and comparing the two myself.
Fifteen hundred? Is that all? Don't forget the Stax headphones that cost over five grand, or the Sennheiser Orpheus, which is commonly sold at over thirty grand. Oh, and you're going to need a high end amp and DAC for that, those will be a few grand each.Better than a pair of $1,500 Sennheisers?
