Yesterday was pretty hectic, I visited my boss at the hospital after work. He suffered a cardiac arrest
on Monday night / Tuesday morning. I've known him for nine years and he's a very friendly guy,
he seems to be doing alright now for he was expected to be released today or tomorrow. 👍
We will keep him in our thoughts. Hope he gets better.

We were talking about transmission tuning a bit last night, I can't remember where I found this method (that I have been using) but I like it as I never have to adjust my gearbox for different tracks. If anyone is interested in it, here it is.

1. Using the fully customizable gearbox, reset to defaults.
2. Adjust the final gear to the 50% mark, so if the minimum is 2.000 and the maximum is 5.000 (difference is 3, so half of that is 1.5) then set it to 3.500.
3. Adjust the max speed slider until the last gear you are using is at or just above 1.000 (if it's .998 then go one click to the next higher). In my case, I adjust 4th gear to this because I prefer a 4 speed gearbox for less shifting, but you can adjust for 5th or 6th if you want. (I use this method on all my cars, not just the Mini)
4. Then adjust each gear from 1-6 all the way max or to the right.
5. Now adjust your final gear again for your top speed. So for example on my 4 speed version I top out at about 107mph in 4th, and my 5th is kind of my "overdrive" on longer stretches like on Nurburgring. On the back straight I get 129-130mph in 5th before the slight uphill. After this, don't touch anything else except the final gear for adjustments.

On my Mini my gears worked out to the following:
1st - 3.189
2nd - 2.166
3rd - 1.528
4th - 1.148
5th - 0.905
6th - 0.748
Final - 3.675

Yours will vary depending on the "Power" components installed on your Mini.

I have been using this setup pretty much since we started this series, I made slight adjustments to my final drive to arrive at my "sweet spot" if you will, at 3.675. I use this setup on all tracks and I'm happy with it, and it seems to be competitive enough for my liking. The advantage here is not having to worry about changing gearbox settings for each track and I'm able to be "used" to my Mini and the way it shifts as if it was my real car (which of course I can't adjust the gearbox on :-)

Sorry to hear Jocke, hope he gets better.

On that note, I think we should try to keep the pictures down to like 5 or 6 per post, it's been pointed out that this thread takes a long time to load especially on smartphones.
Yes that's right. I remember reading somewhere that multiple pictures, high resolution ones in particular, slow down page loading greatly. It's more to do with the browser's ability to render the images than the download speed. Although that of course is a limit.
The same goes for a lot of embedded YouTube videos - it was recommended to just have links to the videos.

I have tried a similar gearbox setup to yours Mik. I think it's from a Motor City Hami thread. And yes it works quite well in giving you good overall performance.

Hehe Woodski, if you all look at my picture you can see that Goofy is always ready to serve me with drinks during races:sly:
The pic was taken during an evening last autumn when we had a 5 year celebration on our forum and we decided to just play around and if we wanted it was "allowed" to have something to drink during the night...
I can tell it was more and more fun to see drivers take some unusual ways along the track the later it was during the evening.

Oddly that reminded me of being in a (the?) night club in Ljubljana (in @SmileyWRX's country I believe?) and being at the bar with a bunch of Swedes plying me with vodka shots :boggled:. My mates left me there. The horror...the horror.

Happy birthday mate :cheers::cheers:

Enjoy the evening

Happy Birthday Woodski!!! I hope your having an awesome day!

Thanks guys, spent the day getting materials for my eternal dining room project - I have no floor or ceiling . Nice evening though 👍.

I did manage to log on to get my birthday car - no Mini Marcos sadly, but did get a Dodge Charger 440 R/T - took me ages to choose the colour though, there are so many :dopey:. I suppose 2J is the pick of the year cash wise. Doh, now I've given my age away .

Hopefully should be around next Wednesday.

Thanks for the Birthday wishes everyone. :)

I spent the day in Niagara Falls working with the company that does the fireworks display there all year. So I can say that was my personal display, lol.

Heading out tonight with some friends to do my version of "The Golden Mile" from the movie "Worlds End".

I didn't login yesterday, do you still get the birthday car if you login after the day?

Don't think so.

A little late but here's just a few shots of our trip out in the snow...

Sounds good, but it's at a little bit of an awkward time for me. I won't put my name down yet, but if I find I'm available and there are some empty spaces, I might jump in at the last moment - if that's OK.

Oh, and I did get my "Birthday Car" when I logged in today, 3 days after my birthday!
Oh right. That's good to know.

No problem, I'm sure there will be slots available. I tried to pick a time outside of any other series going on.

I'll echo If's post here. Dad turns 65 on Sunday and I don't yet know what the plans are for Saturday at that time. But like If I'll gladly jump in if there is a spot left.
If so I will bring my brand new all-White Mini. I call her Whitney. 👍
