Decided to try a new gearbox based on Mini Miglia specs.
http://www.swiftune.com/Product/411/swift-shift-dog-engagement-gear-kit-2014.aspx

With the 3.929 Final Drive and the second set of ratios (2.362, 1.564, 1.195, 1.0) and set the 5th gear to 0.852.

I was able to pull very consistent laps around Brands Hatch, and only 1/10 off my best there. Also felt great at Nurburgring. :)

Feels really nice, the gears are much taller and wheelspin is almost zero.

Going to try it this Wednesday at Matterhorn. 👍

You know you have been playing too much GT6 when, you are driving your real life car and pushing a corner near the limits of grip, and after exiting said corner with a big grin on your face, your wife turns to you and says "Are you Gran Turismo'ing?"

My wife won't even go for a short ride in Alice Cooper because it scares her too much. If we are going to the Eastern Sierras or up Hwy 1 through Big Sur on a short vacation in a rental car, she does have a phrase for me when I start having too much curvy road fun. "You're scaring me!"

That's all it takes and I slow down.....a little.

We share the driving on trips with her driving on the highways and I get all the curvy roads. Perfect marriage.

Thanks for posting your tune, Mik. I really needed help getting my gearing adjusted after changing them for playing at Sierra at max PP and RH tires. That was fun, but I couldn't find where I had written the old gears down so I guessed at what it was and apparently guessed badly. The car handled ok, but would not accelerate well at all.

It was so much fun, even with just 5 or 6 guys and I had forgotten how nice the short track was. You get 10-12 cars out there and there is going to be constant action everywhere.

I did find the name of the Logitech headset I started using this week and it can be found on Amazon for $25.00. It is an older model ClearChat Comfort USB H390. There are a lot of really nice, but expensive, headsets out there, and this works great on the PS3 and computer so I'll wait a little longer before going for a full game-sound and chat together type headset.

See you guys out there somewhere soon.

Sorry I missed the action guys. It's been one of those weeks!

I was looking forward to the track choice - I expect it worked well with the Mini.
Hope it all went well.

I was pretty happy with that gearbox, if you like it, you should be able to use it everywhere without changing it. 👍

Had fun until I got DC'd, this time without the curse of IF lol
Oops sorry, I forgot to remove the DC curse. I'll go and do it now. It just requires a bit of chanting, while running around the garden naked!

Upcoming Race Agenda for Wednesday January 21st, 2015 has been updated at Post #2
From Matterhorn short track to the Nordschleife! Quite a contrast!
Kart space for the week after? :P

I thought this was pretty interesting.

Matterhorn - 30 laps

Best laps;

1. FergusMik --------------- 26.215
2. BTH_pimiki54 ---------- 26.232 + 0.017
3. JockeP22 ---------------- 26.352 + 0.137
4. LOGANHEAD831 -------- 26.565 + 0.350
5. buybon355 -------------- 26.746 + 0.531
6. WheelerTurner ---------- 26.750 + 0.535

Now that is close.

Cool, we definitely have to revisit that track! 👍

The gauges are in Italian too. No gas for Alice...she drinks Benzina and massages her innards with Olio according to the gauges.
That's awesome, Wayne. Great quote.
Even more interesting when you consider the variety of suspension, diff and gear set ups, plus controller and wheel users.
Yes I agree. I ran with racing suspension: soft, standard diff through all three options, standard gears (only altered the top speed).
So yeah, very close racing even though the settings were all over the spectrum among us.

Hi all, I'd be interested in racing with you at some point, if there's any space.

Just tag me if there's a place up for grabs.

Thanks

Rich
Hi Rich, @numbnuts70
We would be happy to have you. Please review the OP for information on car specs and the rules. Post #3 also has an example of a tune a few of us use on our Minis, so you are ready to go for race time.

I'll send you an invite to our club as it is private and we run our lobby from the "Community" area.

Thanks,
Mik
:)

Maybe, just maybe, I might be able to make some races tonight!

I finished the eternal renovation project before Christmas, so the only things in the way are the January hibernation instinct and possible wife intervention .
