1990 Belgian Grand Prix

Cool, glad you like it! There's now also a Ferrari 250 GTO collection and others are in the works. Here's a preview of the 24 Heures du Mans 1962 print:

If you'd want to help us decide what project to work on next, you can do so in the poll.

Disclaimer:
  • I work there
  • we sell some really nice prints and posters – you might want to avoid visiting the site if you're prone to buying stuff like that ;)

Oh wow! This is great to hear! Also, for whatever reason, I thought these were the creations of some internal Mercedes-Benz employees, not an outside party. Tell me how it all came to be? Did they pay you for them?

Also, I am tempted to splurge on one of the small, $150 pieces. But even then, it is a pricey piece for me, especially the larger pieces. Not saying they aren't worth it, I just don't know if I really want to buy.

It started as an internal project, most of the work at the time were advertisement jobs and this was a chance to show we can do more than that. It took some convincing and quite a lot of time to get through the usual loop of 'oh, that looks great but I don't have a say in matters like these - I'll direct you to someone else' (The Twelve Tasks of Asterix comes to mind) so it's more like a final acknowledgment of the work done than anything else.

If you're on a budget, I'd recommend the $35 silver arrows posters (100 cm × 70 cm / 40" × 28", we're not talking some glossy thin-paper ones, these are rough, 180g/m2), though the selection is limited and I personally like the ferrari posters more (there will be another set of posters soon, too). They look really good when framed.

I don't want to hijack the thread so if there's anything else just drop me a PM. Soooo, back to the topic:

1957 German Grand Prix, Juan Manuel Fangio soon to exit pit row, break and re-break the lap record nine times over the next ten laps and secure his fifth driving title. Back when mechanics would use a mallet to knock off the hub nut - this particular pitstop took somewhere around 54-56 seconds as the nut came bouncing under the car without anyone noticing.

That race  I have a picture standing next to that Maserati. Best day ever.

Also, those GTO artworks are mad! Didn't know you were producing more (I actually thought you guys worked for Mercedes or something). Keep the good work!

Hard to believe that ^^^ was normal behavior from the car. Unless it wasn't? Can't be certain something wasn't going wrong in that picture . Normally big flames are bad!

I've seen flaming F1 turbo pics before though, but that is some serious 🤬!

Another brave photographer, Jochen Rindt on his way to win the 1970 Dutch GP in the Lotus 72. The win at Zandvoort gave the 72 it's first victory but it was overshadowed by the tragic passing of Piers Courage during the race.

Sparks flying on the Kemmel Straight in the first lap of the 1992 Belgium GP at Spa. Jean Alesi, Michael Schumacher, and Mika Hakkinen making it nearly three-wide. Schumacher went on to win his first GP, Hakkinen bringing the Lotus home in 6th and Alesi retiring early.

The body language shown by Perry McCarthy is all that needs to be said about how piss poor Andrea Moda was in 1992.

I never noticed how similar McCarthy's and Villeneuve's helmets were.

Awesome thread!!

Here's a couple from the great race to get hyped for Bathurst this weekend (apologies if some of them aren't that old), bonus points for anyone that can name each moment/race:

Moffat and Iyckx (?) formation finish (1977?)

Not sure on this one, the time where Brock won by a multiple of laps and set a record on the last lap?

Skaife/Richards infamous red-flagged 1992 win.

Murphy's lap of the gods.

Coulthard's roll over.

Memorys a little hazy, I only know the older pics from watching Bathurst VHS tapes over and over when I was a kid.

A somber photo.

Must have been a weird feeling for him, as they were basically involved in a fight because of what happened in the previous race.

Bernie Ecclestone, The Driver

This is a race being held at Brands Hatch in 1951 but backwards; it does look like they are coming out of Surtees and onto the Cooper straight, all the more amusing given that John Cooper himself is driving in this photo.

These popped up in my facebook feed, I'm currently contacting the owner of the pit lane picture as its quite large and I'm interested in owning it, here is a picture of pit lane on December 26, 1936 and the program from that event, I lived to the extreme left of the photo through my youth,

Nice find, @TDZdave. I used to drive those roads weekly a few years ago, every time I'd imagine the action that would've taken place. South Australia has a rich Motorsport history which not many people know about, it would be fantastic to see some more photos from events at Victor Harbour, Lobethal, Woodside, etc.

If only that year of Cavalier could be added to Forza. Not least because it would be the easiest to paint as the road car GSI.
