bmxmitch's vision of the theme:

We had classics last week. Now lets see what the future will bring.
You're free to do whatever you like. You may add small elements that bring forth a futuristic theme, modify your favorite car to a future looking one, or whatever you think the future will bring us.

UNIQUE RESTRICTIONS: -

3unlimitedrules-1.png

Please, ensure you read and understand all requirements for this competition. Failure to follow
the rules may result in disqualification. If you have questions, send me a Private Message.

This Thread will answer many possible questions you may have.

• It is recommended you host your image on ImageShack, Photobucket, or Flickr.
• Not sure how to post a thumbnail or preview image? Read this sticky!
• Please use a clickable-preview to full-size, not a separate text link for it;
it makes poll creation much easier!

• One entry per user.
It must be your own work, and never previously used in a comp.
• Do not ask other users to choose your entry.
• Mark your FINAL ENTRY clearly, with red text.
• You may change your entry once. Do it clearly; edit out your previous entry, and
either post the new one in a new reply, or in place of the original.
• When submitting, use either a thumbnail or a preview image, linked to the full-sizer.
• Preview images can not exceed 500 pixels in either direction.
• A preview image must be representative of the full-size image. Do not add effects to it.
• Do not post "Honourable Mentions" or outtakes - just your Final Entry, that's all.
• Winner gets to choose the following week's theme, as well as the Top 15.
• Winners cannot enter in their own theme!
• The Host may ask for the original image and it must be submitted if so.
• It's recommended to save the original image (preferably in-game) until week's ends.

3editing-1.png

• Crop and/or resize an image.
• Adjust the level or curve values.
• Alter the colour tone of the image (gradient maps, photo filters, colour balance, etc).
• Car body colour change (all stickers/design features must remain, see "Remove Items" rule).
• Adjust brightness, contrast, exposure, shadow/highlights.
• Enhance shadows or highlights (dodge and burn tools in Photoshop, for example).
• Add noise and/or diffuse glow.
• Add a post-game tilt-shift blur, or apply a motion blur to a stationary Photomode shot.
• Make use of Layer Blend Modes.
• Use a Sharpening filter and/or tool.
• Scale or enlarge rims.
• Remove or modify license plates.
• Remove the GT watermark.
• Add a personal signature.
• Clean up or fix jaggies, texture pixelation, or colour separation.
• Add a vignette effect.

• Artistic filters are allowed; that means green light for lens flares, ghost effects, etc.
• Weather edits are allowed but do refrain from using it on every single entry you put out.
• Multiple photos are allowed, HDR and photo-stitch away!
• Selective colouring and masking of the car or background is allowed.
• Light leaks, dirt particles, fractal effects, typography, and any along the lines of the mentioned are allowed.

• Small images outside of GT5 is allowed. This includes logos, car body parts (e.g. rims, decals), textures (e.g. retro filter grain), small objects (e.g. trees, grass, bricks).
• Large images are, however, disallowed. This includes background swapping, placing a whole car into the photo, changing the environment entirely and etc.

(e.g. trees, grass).
• On the issue of placing cars into photos, if the car is taken from a GT5 photo, and placed into another GT5 photo, it's fine. This makes for multi-car phototravel shots.

• IMPORTANT: Winners, to allow for a more open competition (not too restrictive), please limit the description of your theme at your own will. (Try to avoid themes like "Mazdas at Nurburgring", or "Only at Trial Mountain")

Please refrain from distancing away from the theme with your edits, saying if there is not really a need for a weather edit, it is recommended that you don't add it in.

Failure to follow these rules will result in ignored entries and/or disqualification!

I'm a little confused by what we are allowed to do in this comp.

Mitch has stated: "You're free to do whatever you like. Do a futuristic background/racetrack, modify your favorite car to a future looking one, or whatever you think the future will bring us."

However, "Large images are, however, disallowed. This includes background swapping, placing a whole car into the photo, changing the environment entirely and etc.
(e.g. trees, grass)."

I thought 3.0 was supposed to be a middle ground between 2.0 and Photoshop, but based upon the last couple competitions and this new one, it appears that we are doing a lot of manipulating and altering. A little clarification please.

I wont be entering but if anyone is interested here is a futuristic GT5 tutorial.

Feel free to read it or ignore it 👍
Technical terms well and truly mastered 'drew in some LED lights and glory things,so i drew a few glowy circle tyre things'

I'll definitely give your tutorial some use if i can get CS5 off my friend, thanks for posting that bud:tup:

Sorry for the confusen. I haven't checked the rules before I wrote that text, so that's my fault.
This whole competition, of course, should'nt get too far. Replacing a few little things would absolutely be enough for me.

But it's hard to draw a line there. For me at least....
But maybe Taiga clarifies it a bit more. ;)

That seems to have gone straight past me, woops!
You are allowed to add elements that promotes a futuristic theme but you are not allowed to do entire background swaps.

Haha. talk about a detailed tutorial!

GPR
Why not? You could always post an oldie. ;)
I may do that. 👍

No Entry yet....:nervous:

To make it easier for everyone, I'm pleased with a futuristic looking shot. That doesn't require Photoshop stuff. Just pick a future looking car and search a fitting location/spot.

Well, at least enter something!!!!;)

FINAL ENTRY

Entry below is absolutely great.
The vehicle is familiar to me, but I can't tell what ist was (is)…

Well, those are excellent guys!👍

I wasn't expecting much, but this....this is truly an amazing start! Now keep it rolling guys, don't get discouraged by Raphs and Nics work...;)

Ok, I cannot compete with NB or Raphaele, so to make up the numbers I thought I would have a go and have some fun. Nothing very technical - if the base picture looks futuristic to begin with then that's half the battle won! And at last - a reason to use chrome silver!!!

FINAL ENTRY

TUSCAN RAIDER

TuscanRaider by Giulietta37, on Flickr
Enjoy, G73

Inspiration was Terminator 2 - the morphing metallic dude, what would he drive? Hmmm?💡

Only 3 this week?

Come on people, dont be afraid to enter a less edited shot for this. ;)

I have an entry in the works, should be done with it on the weekend. So that's one more at least.

@ ShaolinMasta

Simply great!
грандиозный

Well I found some time to finish my entry today as it turns out. I was considering doing more to it but then kind of liked the simplicity of it in the end.
