UNIQUE RESTRICTIONS: -

Please, ensure you read and understand all requirements for this competition. Failure to follow
the rules may result in disqualification. If you have questions, send me a Private Message.

This Thread will answer many possible questions you may have.

• It is recommended you host your image on ImageShack, Photobucket, or Flickr.
• Not sure how to post a thumbnail or preview image? Read this sticky!
• Please use a clickable-preview to full-size, not a separate text link for it;
it makes poll creation much easier!

• One entry per user.
It must be your own work, and never previously used in a comp.
• Do not ask other users to choose your entry.
• Mark your FINAL ENTRY clearly, with red text.
• You may change your entry once. Do it clearly; edit out your previous entry, and
either post the new one in a new reply, or in place of the original.
• When submitting, use either a thumbnail or a preview image, linked to the full-sizer.
• Preview images can not exceed 500 pixels in either direction.
• A preview image must be representative of the full-size image. Do not add effects to it.
• Do not post "Honourable Mentions" or outtakes - just your Final Entry, that's all.
• Winner gets to choose the following week's theme, as well as the Top 15.
• Winners cannot enter in their own theme!
• The Host may ask for the original image and it must be submitted if so.
• It's recommended to save the original image (preferably in-game) until week's ends.

new3editing-2.png

• Crop and/or resize an image.
• Adjust the level or curve values.
• Alter the colour tone of the image (gradient maps, photo filters, colour balance, etc).
• Car body colour change (all stickers/design features must remain, see "Remove Items" rule).
• Adjust brightness, contrast, exposure, shadow/highlights.
• Enhance shadows or highlights (dodge and burn tools in Photoshop, for example).
• Add noise and/or diffuse glow.
• Add a post-game tilt-shift blur, or apply a motion blur to a stationary Photomode shot.
• Make use of Layer Blend Modes.
• Use a Sharpening filter and/or tool.
• Scale or enlarge rims.
• Remove or modify license plates.
• Remove the GT watermark.
• Add a personal signature.
• Clean up or fix jaggies, texture pixelation, or colour separation.
• Add a vignette effect.

• Artistic filters are allowed; that means green light for lens flares, ghost effects, etc.
• Weather edits are allowed but do refrain from using it on every single entry you put out.
• Multiple photos are allowed, HDR and photo-stitch away!
• Selective colouring and masking of the car or background is allowed.
• Light leaks, dirt particles, fractal effects, typography, and any along the lines of the mentioned are allowed.

• Small images outside of GT5 is allowed. This includes logos, car body parts (e.g. rims, decals), textures (e.g. retro filter grain), small objects (e.g. trees, grass, bricks).
• Large images are, however, disallowed. This includes background swapping, placing a whole car into the photo, changing the environment entirely and etc.

(e.g. trees, grass).
• On the issue of placing cars into photos, if the car is taken from a GT5 photo, and placed into another GT5 photo, it's fine. This makes for multi-car phototravel shots.

• IMPORTANT: Winners, to allow for a more open competition (not too restrictive), please limit the description of your theme at your own will. (Try to avoid themes like "Mazdas at Nurburgring", or "Only at Trial Mountain")

Please refrain from distancing away from the theme with your edits, saying if there is not really a need for a weather edit, it is recommended that you don't add it in.

Failure to follow these rules will result in ignored entries and/or disqualification!

I like the first pic but seems most of the car is comprised of a real photo.

I'm not sure how far one can take lifting elements from photos beyond the odd road texture, water splash etc and cropping out logos.

Indeed.

I hope NBD wins this poll. I like the idea of the 1st shot but it has some faliures and as chromatic9 said, I don't know if crop and past an entire car is allowed.

I voted for GPR. But the last shot almost got it... :D

The first shot happens to be mine, gentlemen. And hearing all this talk, I felt I should step out and clarify. I'm quite aware of the 3.0 rules as I'd carefully read through them multiple times before I got around to editing. I haven't added an entire car as zzz_pt seems to point out and even if I didn't I'm sure I don't have the editing skill to make it seem otherwise. What I have done, is add decals to the hood and the side of the car, added a side skirt, the front bumper and worked on the interior of the car. Post that, all I did was some toning to make everything blend in with each other. Beside that, no objects in the background have been added or anything of that sort. I'm pretty sure it all lies within the afore mentioned rules. I'm not denying it has flaws, there happen to be quite a few. And I honestly don't think I've gone too "far" either or I'm sure the judge would have mentioned it.

If you are indeed still doubtful I would be more than happy to post the original shot here :)
Oh, and thanks for all the votes coming in everyone! Appreciate it.

I have nothing against the person who did the 1st shot (you rambo). :)

but this is quite clear. Not an entire car, but almost.

You used a real shot and paste it in the top of your BMW. I like your idea though. But, IMO, how you did it is out of 3.0 rules. :) Nothing personal. In fact, when I saw your entry I saw it right away but because I'm not the "judge", I thought I could be wrong.

Maybe I was, since the shot is in the pole. :)

Actually, looking closely at his image, he just used parts of it. Some parts don't line up perfectly, like the left blue stripe on the headlight, the side decal clips into the wheel well a tiny bit, and over laps the side vent.

he used quite a bit of it, but not all of it.

Cause infact, "Small images outside of GT5 is allowed. This includes logos, car body parts (e.g. rims, decals)." He just did it really well that when viewing it at 500px, it looks real.

If anything, I think Nicholas may of used a little too much of the real R8, it's insanely hard to pick out what's from GT5.

In my understanding, using decals is not crop an entire side, top, front of a car and paste it on top of our shot. In the end, our car will disappear completely. But I can be wrong of course. ;) And in that case, I apologize.

I always thought that, in other to reproduce a real racing car, we only could use decals (like this) and not using this car side and paste it.

Not a big deal. :)

In Nicolas and Pandi cases I can't say nothing because the final results are perfect and from what I know of their work, they can make something like this without crop and paste a real shot.

I think I'll just leave this discussion. I only said what I think because I saw chromatic's post.

But you're accusing him of it and he didn't do that. When you look at the fullsize in lightbox, you can clearly tell what's from the real shot, and what's from GT5. The Car is from GT5, and he used the decals, the front vents/skirt, and the windows.

I'm not accusing anyone. I only comment shots. Not people. I thought I was clear about that.

And while you comment, you clearly say "You used a real shot and paste it in the top of your BMW." . That's accusing me of something.
Gtuned has been kind enough to look carefully at my entry and point out it's flaws, indicating while so, where the flaws were. I think that about more than proves it. Yes, I used the image you posted as the base from where I got the decals and all that. But paste in the entire car? Come on, man
This is a 3.0 edit and it says "small images" are allowed, so that's that. Problem solved.
And thanks gtuned

Ok rambo. ;) I respect that. I shared my point of view. If I'm the one who missunderstood the rules, I'm happy to assume it. :)

It is within the rules and very much allowed. The whole side decal is considered under small images. "This includes logos, car body parts (e.g. rims, decals)" Furthermore, as Gtuned has pointed out, the decals aren't copied wholesale onto the entry.
There is a certain amount of effort needed to even pull it off like how rambo793.
He has done a brilliant job integrated whatever materials he has used for the picture.

Anywho, brilliant entries this week, really outstanding poll. Congratulations to NBDESIGNZ to winning with his gorgeous R8.

Thanks for the appreciation Taiga! :)
