Sweet, made another poll, glad my pics are appealing to the judges :) Don't think I'm quite at the stage to produce a winner, but it's nice to know I'm on the right track 👍

Also, I kinda agree with Nismo33, without naming certain shots I would say some don't really show the theme. Nevertheless, they're all excellent entries!

Yeah this seems to be a recurring problem with CCCL.

But excellent stand alone shots in the poll anyway. I was torn between ziggedzag's white 458 and Apperosio's filter/exposure combo.

I'm a bit puzzled where all the votes gone so far.
Some really outstanding shots still got 0 votes. :odd:

but still, great job everyone! 👍

I didn't make it to any of this week's polls as well...!

Any comments?

It is a nice shot but IMO I feel there isn't enough of the car in the picture. It is also a bit bright which I had a problem with as well at that place.

Also I wonder when tangled web will reply if he replies at all. I am not gonna have a go at him for not putting me in the poll, I just want to know why so I can try to avoid whatever was wrong.

Tvr where is that spot on the track you took your pic? I did a couple of laps last night trying to find it & couldn't see it at all

I have voted on TVR&Ferrari_Fan's entry, it so damn beautifull!!!!
Actually have this as my wallpaper on my phone :D

Sweet 3 out of 3 polls this week :D very difficult to pick one shot on this poll, some really good pics 👍

Congrats to those in this week's poll - there's some great selections to vote on!

Guess mine didn't make it again, though.
Any feedback/criticism would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks!

Peace...

Thanks for the feedback, TVR&Ferrari_Fan.
Although I don't quite follow what you're getting at, these are elements I'll look to be more mindful of.

Always looking for feedback/criticism, so feel free to provide such... Thanks!

Peace...

Woah, that's unusual for you! :boggled:

Not in PMC it's not. I'm lost without my editing  I've actually had a bit of a bad run when it comes to contests, I've not been giving 100% in any of them except for the tournament. All of my spare time outside of work, family, girlfriend and tournament entries goes on Minecraft

Is it honestly just me that thinks tvr&ferarri_fans picture shouldn't even have made the poll as its clearly not the high speed ring?

Me, I don't understand how at least three pictures (including the picture I voted for) made the poll - not based on picture quality or "awesomeness", but on representation of the theme.
I'm also a bit befuddled as to how my submission didn't make the poll, and welcome whatever detailed feedback/criticism anyone would be so kind to offer...

Buy hey, it's the responsibility/privlege of the judge (by way of winning the competition two weeks prior) to choose the finalists, and the pictures in the poll are the pictures they deemed worthy of the competition's poll. That, as they say, it that.
Maybe someday I'll enter a submission where the particular judge for that competition will deem it worthy of the competition's poll. I'll just have to keep at it!

Peace...

How can you tell ? I think it's a beautiful entry :D
And after all, if the judge will pass it through, it means that it's eligible.

Not knocking the quality of the picture dennis. It is a cool pic. I just dont think its been taken on high speed ring. If thats the case (i stand to be corrected but this is the 3rd time in as many pages that i've brought it up & i haven't been corrected yet) then the other guys that have posted up in this thread wondering why they didn't get picked have every right to feel a bit pissed off y'know

I kinda agree ^ As nice a shot as it is a 458 tailight doesn't emphasise the criteria set out that I was trying to adhere to myself, I have loads of shots of the 458 (love the car :)) that I think are above the standard of entry I submitted but felt they would be rejected for being too obscure.
Just some clarification required really for going forward with future themes.

Well, if you've voted for a picture which you think didn't fit the theme, you can't really knock the judge for picking non-theme pictures either.

Personally, I think I'll skip the CCCL because it's the erratic voting more than the judging that irks me.

Or maybe it's just my interpretation of the CCCL that's at odds with the members here.

I wouldn't say that I'm "pissed" about not making the poll per se.
(I wouldn't say that I'm "thrilled", but I'm not "pissed" either. It's more "increasingly frustrated confusion" than anything else...)

My wondering is based solely on the individual merits - or lack thereof - of my submission.
I know that inherently there's a comparison against the other submissions involved, because only a certain number of entries make the poll. However, I could pretty much care less how/why the entries that did make the poll did such.

The only element I have any influence over when it comes to entering - and doing well - in a photo competition here is the picture that I submit. All I can do is continue to enter competitions and submit what I believe to be my best efforts as entries, so that's what I'm gonna do.

Soliciting feedback - especially when my entry fails to make the poll - is part of my efforts to develop.

Peace...

Strngz0731 my point is that if said photo isn't at the right location for the cccl then there should have been an extra spot in the poll. A spot that your photo could have been in

Got 2 things to say about this:

1. Without disrespecting the quality of the photo's in the poll; if the theme says "...want to see high speed shots of Ferraris....", then there should be high speed shots of Ferraris in the poll. Kind of strange to see stalled or parked Ferraris then :boggled:

2. I notice that in the latest batch of competitions most of the Poll posts are from competitors that didn't make that poll and want feedback. I can understand the arguments like "I want to improve to make the next poll" etc. "so feedback is appreciated", but on the other hand I personally think that it's kinda pointless. Every competition has a different theme, that requires another atmosphere in a photograph and (most) of the competitions have different judges. Every judge will have his own kind of taste and way of looking at a pic. I think that the atmosphere of a pic (what makes it work, the emotion it brings) or the "click" one has with a photo is very hard to explain or even can't be explained.

(3). I really love the photomode element in this game and the shots we all are able to produce with it. Totally hooked on these competitions and the beautiful entries we see every competition. 👍

I'm not knocking anyone or anything. Like I said in the same post, "it's the responsibility/privlege of the judge (by way of winning the competition two weeks prior) to choose the finalists, and the pictures in the poll are the pictures they deemed worthy of the competition's poll". (If that's "knocking" anyone or anything, please let me know, and I apologize to anyone or anything who thinks I've knocked them, because it is not the case.)
Not for anything (because at this point it's moot), I thought the best pictures in the pool either represented the theme poorly - or not at all, so with my vote I tried to balance "picture" with "representation of the competition's theme".

True, I totally understand.
However, the only element I have any influence over is the picture I submit. I see it more as "if I had submitted a picture the judge felt was worthy of making the poll, then I would've made the poll". Maybe I could've fared better if picture(s) chosen over/above mine were removed from consideration for whatever applicable reason, but so what? It ultimately comes down to whether my picture was good enough to be chosen. That obviously wasn't the case (although I'm still kinda in the dark as to why).

For me at least, outside of being able to take what I hopefully learned away from this week to do better next time, that's the "end of the story". Isn't it?

Peace...

No, it's not exactly that - at least for me.

Do I think that my picture should've been in the poll? 🤬 yeah
Why? My interpretation of the theme could be summarized as "loud, fast, and in your face"
Was my picture of the highest technical merit and skill? Most unlikely
Do I think that my picture well displays my interpretation of the theme? 🤬 yeah

What about my picture kept it from making the poll? I don't know

I'm always gonna want feedback and criticism, and I fully intend on taking what I can from it as I develop and evolve, but I'm not foolish enough to automatically take feedback and criticism as truth, fact and rule. I took (without instantly deleting) the picture - and submitted it, so it stands to reason that I like it. However, what I like directly impacts the creation of the picture only. It doesn't (at least it hasn't for me a single time yet) directly impact the poll selection. Judges will constantly change, but a good picture will always be a good picture. I know what I consider to be a good picture, but how am I gonna get a broader understanding without the feedback and criticism of others?

In the end, are there gonna be times where despite my best effort (and potentialy the best picture) that I'm still not gonna do well in these competitions? 🤬 yeah, but nothing I can do about that

Peace...

Just had a look at your pic strngz & its a cool pic 👍 The kind of pic i like taking & entering myself

@strngz0731 I see you voted for my entry (thank you 👍) but you thought it didn't represent the theme well. I too was unsure of the photo as it didn't show that it was the HSR well at all. (It could have been virtually any track). However it was the HSR and was clearly a high speed shot as you can tell by the attitude of the car, which is why in the end I submitted it. Kinda glad I did too. :)

Thanks, mate!
It's great to hear comments like that.
(At least it gives me a spot of validation that I'm not terrible at taking pictures in GT5...)

You're more than welcome, mate!
Don't get me wrong - I'm not accusing you of submitting a picture that wasn't taken at HSR, but it is definitely questionable as to the location.
"Prancing horse"? Absolutely!
"At High Speed?" Well, the horse is definitely prancing at A high speed, but it's not obvious or even subtly inferred that it's at High Speed Ring.
Regardless of any theme requirement, it's an incredible picture - you made those silly-looking (if you ask me) add-on aerodynamic curved fin "thingies" on the front of the car look good. That's what ultimately grabbed my vote.

Peace...
