Your entry was good but it was hard to judge! because it was off course a nice drift-full action, the smoke kind of covered the rest of the image. for me it was just too much smoke there. I would have loved to see a little more of the car.

There were a lot of good shots that didn't make the poll this time. There were so many entries (a sign of a great theme) that it's unavoidable that many will be disappointed theirs didn't make it. In the end however it comes down to the judge's personal preferance and of course we all have slighty different tastes and opinions of what a great shot is. Not making the poll doesn't necessarily mean that your shot wasn't good.

Off course. It was indeed a nice photo, but I was struggling with the concept of drifting in a Nascar... Somehow I can't see this being done in real life or in the Japanese 'drift scene' you see?
So based on authenticity I have not let your entry passed to the poll.
After all it was a good photo speaking of lighting and composition 👍

As for your Masarati: I really loved the shot, and without a doubt, in any other competition I would have picked yours for the poll and probably you would have collected lots of votes for it but it didn't really fit the theme this week...
So really nothing wrong with the photo, it was the theme that was a bit confusing in relation to your shot.

Actually, you do see NASCAR's drift, but in most cases they drift into the wall with 300 KM/h and go up in flames

Well there are several reasons for not making it to the poll.
- the car is out of focus.
tip: try to zoom in as close as possible, then focus at one detailed part of the car (eg. headlight, rim, some other detail), then zoom out again to the wanted zoom area. now take the shot. You'll see that the car has lots of focus and the background gets a little more blurred (when using diafragma, the more 'f' you have, so lets say 45, you have a clear shot of the car AND the background. when using the lowest f, your car gets focused, the background is not. try to play with that a little)
- the use of the filter "car colored only" is very tricky, use it wisely. In your case it doesn't do any good to the picture, it is a bit confusing.
- when it comes to the theme, drifting, the choise of car is very good, the track is also not the issue but the initial drift is not coming through... I see a car that stands still (you probably used shutter speed 1/2000 or even higher, try to use 1/60 and max 1/250 to get some action shots)

It's not just about the zoom! All entries who made the poll and are zoomed have a rich level of theme-feeling. Would you not agree ?
I have explained more then once what a good drift picture is all about, now didn't I ?
