Circuito de Madrid 1st turn
Corvette ZR-1

Does it have to be a grid start, or from the start into turn one? Just a question because LeMans does not do a standing grid start.

It has to be from the start. Are you sure LeMans is not a standing start. If I am recalling correctly there are races where it starts on a standing start at that track. But I could be wrong.

Final Entry

I am driving the red Ferrari 430 Scuderia in an online race. The leader in the GT-R must have made some erratic movement and caused his car to go transparent, and I managed to pause it at the right time, made for a pretty neat photo.

So you take pictures and photoshop them? Doesn't that take the skill out of taking a proper photograph? This should be the photoshop competition, not the photomode competition. I would love to participate but I don't have photoshop, so therefore I would have to take a picture the best I can, but how can you compete when people are artificially rendering their pictures? Lame.

I'm not sure where you read that people were using photoshop to edit their photos but you have the wrong thread. These photos in here are supposed to be strictly photomode photos straight from GT5, those that aren't are ineligible, says so in the very first post. There is another thread for people that do have photoshop called the 2.0 competition. So feel free to post your image in here, you have as good a chance as everyone else.

first corner and its already damaged? wow:odd:
Ah, thi is where semantics come into play - it says "first corner" not first time you get to it. It could be lap 13 for all we know, but if it is "at the first corner" I'd say it's fair game.

So is this a photomode competition or a photoshop competition I am confused?

This is photomode, no post-editing. Fortunately GT5 comes with some of the most over used photoshop filters built in for everyone to abuse (sarcasm).

The "regular" competitions are mainly a test of skill with the in-game camera and whether the photographer understands their subject, timing, and the camera options. Sometimes the difference between a good shot and a bad shot is distance. Other times, it comes down to whether people have finally grown weary of staring at lights up close or yet another exotic car everyone haves but fawn over anyway.

The photoshop competitions have some heavy restrictions applied. Mainly it's to clean the image up and fix minor things photomode exposes, like jagged textures. There's a run of the adjustment layers Highlight / Shadows with a desaturated layer set to hard light (I think), and noise - can't forget to add the noise (for whatever reason). But it is what it is... at least we can play with the image a little, so I'm not complaining. (just being cynical)

Suz: awesome shot! I've never pulled off a B&W shot yet.

Thanks, I actually shoot in black and white most of the time. Sometimes I think it allows for more creativity in the shot. 👍

The theme says to capture a moment from the race start to the first corner. I think that means capture the excitment or intensity of the start of a race, not just take a nice picture of a car at turn 1.

Sometimes, when I'm feeling down, I like to get a high powered car and enter the Sunday Cup.

First Turn, High Speed Ring in Reverse. Spun in front of the pack. Almost like a Bull pawing at the ground before he gores each and every one of them...
