Codemasters to Develop Official WRC Titles from 2023

Looks AI generated. Look at the sponsors, fuzzy text, proportions are wrong, comprehensively fake I'm afraid.

Apparently, the game has been delayed to "sometime before the 1st of November", according to the leaker of the original July 28th date. It is a bit weird that the game is delayed since it supposedly went Gold a few months ago.

But we do have a list of achievements, which if true, confirms some of the rallies and cars, as well as the Car builder and Rally school modes. There's also a "Moments" mode mentioned, which is probably something resembling the scenarios in the McRae DLC.

1Achieve 5 Gold medals in Moments
2Create your own team in Career Mode
3Complete your first career season
4Win a WRC Championship in Career mode
5Finish on the podium at every event in a Championship Mode season
6Complete 5 Moments
7Beat a Personal Best time in Time Trial
8Download and beat a Ghost in Time Trial
9Complete a regularity rally stage with 0 penalty points
10Drive 100 Miles (160km) on Asphalt
11Drive 100 Miles (160km) on Gravel/Dirt
12Drive 100 Miles (160km) on Snow
13Drive 1000 Miles (1600km)
14Build your first Vehicle Builder car
15Build 5 cars in the Vehicle Builder
16Complete at least one stage using a vehicle from every vehicle Class
17Complete a lesson in the Rally School
18Finish on the Podium of a Custom Championship, in a Vehicle Builder car, with a custom livery
19Finish on the podium of an event at Rallye Monte-Carlo in a MINI Cooper S

Glad to see the Xsara finally coming back to a Codemasters game. The locations should be pretty easy to guess being a WRC licensed game, though Iberia could be the first indication that there will be non-WRC locations as well, as that is most likely Spain from DR2.

Nice to see custom championships confirmed as well as the car builder. Separate championship and career modes as well with team creator.

Lots to start getting excited about.

Custom Championship…..thank God for that. The Kylotonn games haven’t had those for years. I love custom championships in rally games because if the car and track list is up to scratch you can basically then recreate anything you like. Because it’s only your car on track you only need that car and that event and you’re all set. Yes please.

Yeah this is such good news. Was one of the best features in DR2. If the car list mimics that game plus WRC machinery then it will be a pretty ultimate rally play box.

You'd think it's a no-brainer. Let's hope so. Codies got the licence for a reason, right?

Please don't dumb down the difficulty, guys. I'd hate to see it end up like DiRT 4. Punish me, baby.

This is exactly my thought. I'm quite slow at getting through my games due to available time and the fact that I have so many. So at the moment I'm still playing through the CM challenges, (believe it or not), and I'm struggling to win the 1995 UK challenge with the Impreza, but I wouldn't want it any other way! So yes fingers crossed no dumbing down.

Another thing that does worry me though about the upcoming game is the yearly release schedule. I think that this has the ability to ruin what we get. What I mean by this is, look at the the 2 masterpieces we have got in DR1/2. They are quite complete right ? We all expect WRC23 to be what we know it really is, DR3 with modern machinery and all the rounds, all the cars of DR2 and more. Therefore it's a match made in heaven, it's gonna be perfect right ? But if that's the case then what's the point of buying next year's edition, and the one after and so on. The skeptical part of me thinks this is going to be bare bones with things behind held back for future releases etc. I hope I'm wrong.

Keep hope alive... hooopefullllyyy we'll get enough different locales and up to date vehicles to comprise a full and satisfying world tour out of the box with varied and interesting stages. It could happen... couldn't it? :scared:

Perhaps Kylotonn accidentally left some stage plans and blueprints lying around the office for the DiRT team to use as inspiration and work their graphical magic on.

Maybe the EA revenue generation committee were visited by the ghosts of Richard Burns, Colin McRae and Timo Mäkinen in the night and were somehow convinced to uphold the legacy of those racing legends by renouncing their Scroogelike tendencies in favour of a releasing a truly world class rallying game for the ages so they wouldn't suffer their and the fanbase's eternal wrath.

Ah, who am I kidding... a few exciting gameplay videos and 85%-plus reviews and my itchy gaming hands will no doubt be reaching into my wallet and waving money at them regardless. I just hope they keep the lively and human sounding co-driver (at least in English... from what I've heard the German chick could pass for a member of Kraftwerk in her delivery).

At least I still have DiRT Rally 2.0 to grind in the meantime and dream of what could have been, on the offchance that they decide instead to dribble out stages and cars with the equivalent of a minuscule pippette and make vague promises of more to come. 🙏🏽🙏🏽

Sports titles really should be live service games. They fit it to a tee. Imagine they come out with WRC 23 and instead all back features they do a full game and instead WRC 24 being a new game they introduce the 24 cars and teams and whatever new tracks for like 20-30 dollars. Works out well for all parties. That is the ultimate hopium I guess yearly updates instead of yearly games

The Iberian Peninsula (/aɪˈbɪəriən/),[a] also known as Iberia, is a peninsula in southwestern Europe, defining the westernmost edge of Eurasia. It is divided between Peninsular Spain and Continental Portugal, comprising most of the region, as well as a small part of Southern France, Andorra, and Gibraltar.

In terms of this game, I'm pretty sure that's going to be the Spanish stages from DR2.0.

Loads of roads, then. Love the town driving in those stages.

Let's hope they silence (or at least mollify) the gripers with improved tarmac physics.

Probably not because gripers will find something else to gripe about 😁

Having gone back and read the beginning of this thread it seems there seems to be a split between people who prefer the Kylotonn WRC games and people who like DiRT Rally and 2.0 better. Would I be correct in thinking that KT fans tend to be more on the PC/wheel side and DR/CM fans include more people using consoles and controllers?

I haven't tried a WRC game since the PS3 days and it played fine on controller but do Codies have the edge in that regard or would WRC Generations play fine on my Xbox SX? It's just that the base game has halved in price on the MS Store and I'm half tempted to splash out if WRC 23 is delayed much longer.

I don't think so, its opposite even, dr2 is best with a wheel. Wrc Kt games are good with a controller.

Wrc10 is great on a wheel now though too.

C McRae games were more made for a controller yeah.
That's my 2 cents at least.

KT games - brilliant stage design, great long stages that feel like a proper challenge/adventure to negotiate, tarmac physics.
Codemasters games - everything else.

That’s my take on them! For me, DR2.0 is by far the better game than anything KT managed. WRC7 was probably my favourite of the KT games, they’re not bad games but DR2.0 is a masterpiece.

DiRT Rally 2.0 doesn't seem to be lacking in any way on a controller though. I'm glad if it's just as good or better on a wheel.

I would say both are designed for controller use first and wheel second. Both series play fine on controller, especially DR1/2. In fact I think DR2 is sublime on controller, perfect. I've played all of the WRC games a lot, if your curious I'd try 9 & 10, both are optimised for SX, 60fps, better graphics etc. Id stay away from Generations though, it has a few problems that were never fixed/ patched,, making it unplayable/unacceptable, (for me), a real shame tbh because it has the most complete round/stage list from all of the previous games. Have fun 👍

Thanks. I'll give WRC 10 a go. Hopefully it'll be worth the £25 on Amazon.

Yh, its same on ps5 of course, i just mean you can surely get it at the same price as i did, on any platform, just saying, as info in case you prefer pay less.
I don't know. I checked eBay, CDKeys. Can't find the Xbox Series X version or the PS5 version for that matter on offer for less than £20. Maybe it's a Britain thing.

No mate, just wait, it will be on sale on the store again real soon. For me WRC9 - better sound and stages, WRC10 better physics. 9 is my favourite of the lot at this point.

Generations for me, it has it's problems but the car and stage selection and the physics are way ahead of the other games in the series. Way ahead.
