Well I won't ruin anything for you other than to reinforce that you should look forward to Brindabella.

GT5 coupled with Dirt's damage modeling? Ohhhhhhhh baby that'd be kick arse :D
Finally got around to a run through Brindabella, a classic Aussie stage, fast road but with trees inches away from the side. Top notch stuff. 👍

I think it's a great deal of fun. The only flaw I could list are the loading times, but I'm more bothered by racing the large trucks, so I pretty much give the game a 9/10. It has completely refueled my taste for rallying.

The loading times are a little long, but not too bad and at least they have attempted to distract you with all your stats being shown.

On the large trucks I quite like them, after all they do race those monsters up Pikes Peak and the T4 Rally Raid stuff runs in Enduro's; maybe not to everybodies taste but people do race they and it is something different.

I like the semis, but it's the Kamaz's...they're just so annoying, and wierd when they jump! :P

I do like the fast pace of the game though in the rallys. But a couple questions.
1) Is there any weather? Or is it all set afterwards? Any snow, rain?
2) How many older rally cars do they have?
3) Lastly...what's a rally course with some good jumps for the cars? :D

Ah see I like the Kazam, I love that you have all that mass moving around so when you come out of a jump its a bit unpredictable. The one thing to remember with them is that when you land after a jump it was almost certainly leave the ground again after the bound and then rebound suspension travel, its just the sheer mass involved. when you get used to it you can actually drive with it 👍

I've not personally come across any snow yet, but rain and wet tracks certainly are present, a good number of the total car list does seem to be older stuff (I would guess around 40%ish) and as for a good stage for jumps, well any of the CORR or Rally raid tracks seem the best for jumps at the moment.

Ah, good to hear there's actual rain. So far, I've liked the Italian Rally with the Stratos, and the 2nd to last stage of I believe Tier 3 or 4. Probably 3, but it's mainly wet tarmac, but it's so much fun.

after few hours of gameplay, I have no regret after my purchase. Dirt really give the player this sensation of driving on the edge. Driving at high speed in an old Ford escort with trees on each side of the narrow track... I looooove it !

1 - Well touching on Scaff's weather comments, I think he meant that there are different conditions for the road surface in the game. Like you noted in your response, this is definitely true. However I'm a little over 40% through the career mode and I have yet to see actual dynamic weather; rain, snow or otherwise. Maybe they will surprise us with something in the higher tiers, but right now I'm thinking the best we get is wet vs dry surfaces with appropriately moody sky conditions. I don't even think we get snow lined roads either, but I could be wrong.

3 - So far my longest jump of 245 ft (one in which I jumped over the 2 buggies ahead of me :)) was on a rally raid course. The specific event is the Tier 3 Rally Raid - Class 1 Buggy event at Jamul Valley. However regarding the actual rally courses, so far from what I can recall it's pretty rare to have a long straight with a big jump on it. Or if there is a straight of some length with any big jumps on it they are perilously located just before a corner or some other hazard. Then again if you don't mind flying off the track or into a huge tree, most of the rally courses should be able to accommodate ;) To this point, the really big and safe jumps are on this Jamul Valley course and the CORR tracks.

I'm with ya. It's quite entertaining to try and keep all the bulk and high COG of the T4 trucks moving along in a generally forward manner. I do find that the AI, even on Pro, just doesn't drive these vehicles aggressively enough and that prevents them from keeping up through the twisties and providing any real competition. The T4's would be killer fun for online head-to-head comps though :D

Couple of questions fer ya:
1 - With all your racing related expertise, do you know where those ridiculous "blue sky" headlight covers came from that they saw fit to stick on the Delta S4? Man that look in this game on that car just irritates the heck outta me. I want my S4 to look like this damn it!

800px-Lancia_Delta_S4_010.JPG

Is that so hard :grumpy:

2 - What's your Brindabella time/rank? I'm not so much asking from a competition standpoint, more so to help resolve my question of how "worldwide" are the rankings. As you are in the UK, if I can or cannot actually find your time from whatever server I'm connecting to here in the States then that'd at least help clarify my question a little. Thanks :)

Completed all the Tiers last night on Pro Am and Amatuer. Pretty fun, although the last Tier is extremely challenging on any of the 3 higher difficulties.

I think my fav. car though is the Lancia Stratos Concept. So fast, and agile!
And I can confirm there is no snow, or rain. Just different elements. I did find out though there is 1 Australia track that has a lot of great jumps! 👍

Yep the T4 Trucks are great fun, I actualy wish more of the races involved them, and I agree for on-line they would be a great laugh. Come on Codemaster's DiRT needs more on-line events, get it sorted.

No idea, but I quite agree the S4 needs the classic Martini livery.

A rather slow 3:35.79, but in my defence I have only been through it once as I'm working my way through the tiers as the moment (and with Warhawk due in the next couple of days I have a busy time ahead).

Well... so which one?

And I was wondering if the difficulty level on Pro-Am and Pro was gonna ramp up significantly. Kinda good to know. Right now I'm on Tier 5 and apart from the AI 🤬'ers bumpin' ya all over the place from the start line on rallycross and CORR events I've still found the upper levels not as quite as challenging as I intially expected.

Is there any major flaws with this game which is worth pointing out before I ask for it for my birthday? I must say on the demo I had great fun is the game as much fun?

Sorry for the delay man... to answer, no I've have not experienced any major flaws that would keep me from recommending this game. If you've read my other posts you'll see I've noted some admittedly picky niggles and what not, but assuming none of those observations bothered you much than you should receive a very desirable present come your next birthday :)

There's a rumor on another forum that Codemasters is considering releasing a DiRT Revision 2 (as opposed to DiRT 2 mind you) that will address many of the 360 and ps3 fan suggestions. Sounds kinda unbelievable to me, but that has been put out there at least.

Found ya straight off. So cool, it does look like the leaderboards are compiled from racers around the whole world (well at least the US and UK ;)). For my little anal retentive self, that's nice to be able to personally verify a little. I will comment that part of this course's genius is how challenging it is to get a faster time on. The more you push, the more likely the hidden bits just off the trails edge will bite ya :scared:. More than the other rally courses I've raced to this point trying to go fast here has really help me appreciate the other worldly scalpel like piloting precision that the real pros seem to innately possess. Not to mention the massive brass ones  Which begs the question, who is most crazy in rallying; the driver, the navigator or the fans?

Just bought it and i LOVE IT!!! Its so much fun... my favorite camera is the in car helmet cam! I love how you can see your feet move around... the clutch foot doesn't do much but its still cool to look down and see them there!

and i think the fans are the craziest! Sure the driver and navigator are mobbin down a one lane dirt road with trees on each side going 100 mph, but at least they have the car between them and the trees... if the driver makes a rare mistake, the fans are the ones who have the gigantic mass of metal being hurled at them at high velocities!! I still want to go to a rally race... that'd be so rad!

Does anyone know if it's possible to play DiRT with a multi screen setup, like GT4? <== EDIT

Given that it is effectively impossible (or at least very, very difficult) to track the fast times of other's I was thinking of adding to the beginning of this thread a "National Rally Championship" fast times tracking table. However I want to see how many GTP'ers are interested first.

Basically what I am envisioning is simply recording the top 3 to 5 GTP drivers fastest times for each of the National Full Rally Events (Great Britain, Italy, Spain, Australia, Japan and Germany) in each vehicle class (FWD, AWD, RWD & Classic). Assuming anyone is interested I'm thinking we should limit tracking to these specific multi-stage (7 for each country) events as attempting to track times for every single stage and track would just be too much work. Also I am guessing that most of us GT enthusiasts enjoy the rally stages most and there's also a fair bit of strategy built into the rally events with the ability to repair damage limited to the end of the 2nd, 4th and 6th stages only. Oh yeah, almost forgot, to keep things even I propose that the difficulty setting MUST BE set at Pro. Thoughts?

Anyone playing this game with logitech Driving Force Pro?
Not the DFP but the G25. I don't want to play with the controller. I never did. I gave up MotorStorm because it's not compatible with a wheel. :(

Took a little while longer than I intended but I've finally added the full Track/Course List to the 1st post, for those that are curious.

This game is simply amazing with the G25. You have to be soo damn fast with the wheel. Once you get the feel of the car and know what surface you're on you can throw it around and catch the slides. You have to catch the slides before they're a problem... It's alot of fun.

anyone else having problems getting their g25 to work with this? any settings that need to be changed?

Found this suggestion on gamefaqs but as I don't have a g25 (of DFP) I have no idea if it will help you:

If you have a driving force pro, first I push select + r3 + right bumper to change the wheel to 900 mode.

Then do the same button combo only with left bumper to lower the force feedback.

Set the gas and brake strength to around 80 and the steering linearity to - 20.

This should take you from uncontrolable to good enough.

I'm loving this game! I got it for my Birthday and it's great! My favourite event so far are the Rally Raid's and the Hill Climb's!

It takes a while to get used to using the Driving force Pro. It seems the designers went controller first wheel second when making the game.

Just driven the Pikes Peak Course AB in the FTO Unlimited. I cannot express how much fun I had doing it, it was the most fun I have had on any game ever. I am truly in love with this game.

Wait until you get to drive the full Pikes Peak course, truly amazing moment that one.

Glad to hear you like DiRT 👍

I'm now on Tier 8 with every event downwards completed in Pro Am, I'm quite pleased with my self. Now to make onto Tier 10 :D

Oh yes, Pikes Peak and Rally X is good for me, I changed
A perfectly good Escort into a Smart Car at Croft!

I've finished the game on inter but I can't stop playing Pikes Peak (on pro) and car settings etc to start the game again on pro.

I had a few beers on my birthday on Friday with my mates, took it turns on Rally X and couldn't stop laughing at the replays/damage great game.
