You probably have a PlayStation 3 and have downloaded "Gran Turismo 5: Prologue." You can't wait to play it at long last. Hopefully, you want to hope your favorite college football is as amazing today (or tonight) as "GT5: Prologue." It's October 20th. Make ready for some college football action. And if the past few weeks have been any indication, upsets are TRULY bound to happen. So make ready for some college football from all over America. So let's get it on!

SATURDAY SYNOPSIS: Week 8
FBS saw a number of road teams win. One team was denied the upset on a HUGE game-winning touchdown by the team that was trailing. It was good to be an away team in FCS including a big win over an FBS team. A few big winners took place including one in Overtime in FCS. The key win for an FCS road team came in the Southern Conference (SOCON). A huge beatdown ensued in Texas in Division 2 against another Texas team. The Top 10 in Division 3 won their games. One game ended up in a massive blowout in Division 3, but nothing like the Division 2 dominating win.

--- Division 1: Bowl Subdivision Scores ---
You know, I had a tough time picking out a game to be my "GAME OF THE WEEK." So I went ahead and focused on the SEC. Kentucky's trying to show they are TRULY for real. I have this report along with many others. I figured I'll highlight a few good SEC matches to start this one off. Then, I'll highlight on other SEC games. I actually have two GAMES OF THE WEEK, but we start in Lexington, Kentucky. Wildcat nation is alive and well as Florida comes to town.

Tennessee May Want to Check Their Mirrors for Kentucky... (GAME OF THE WEEK - 1)
* #14 Florida {Gators} at #8 Kentucky {Wildcats}
The way I'm opening this report will make some people feel strange. In terms of rankings, Florida is ready to upset Kentucky on the road. This week's Game of the Week features one of last week's GAME OF THE WEEK teams. Kentucky played at home to a #1 LSU squad, and LSU's breed of feline couldn't tame Kentucky's cats in Triple Overtime. More and more, Kentucky's cats are the finest cats in the SEC. But wait until they meet some reptiles from Gainesville. Welcome to the SEC's jungle!
Kentucky trailed only 31-24 inside of three minutes left in the Third Quarter. Remember that Kentucky trailed in their LSU game until they knocked off the LSU boys. As Kentucky picked up another TD by way of Dicky Lyons for the 'Cats, Commonwealth Stadium was like a home game at nearby Rupp Arena- LOUD! It's how the 3rd Quarter ended. It's 31-24 as Kentucky continues their comeback. The wind was out of Kentucky's sails with 11:57 left in the game as Florida punished Kentucky a little more by picking up another touchdown. The complimentary PAT made it 38-24. So Kentucky's back down to a two-score game. At about 8:44 left in the game, Andre' Woodson was sacked for the sixth time after getting sacked zero times last week. Rich Brooks was irate at the 3:40. Screaming at the refs like a baseball coach mouthing off at an umpire. Well... not THAT bad. At 3:35, salvation came for the Wildcats as the hookup of Andre' Woodson and Dicky Lyons resulted in a touchdown. Now it's 38-31 as Kentucky continues to claw their way through Florida with 3:55 to go in the game. At 1:33 left in the game, Kentucky's misery looked to be absolutely complete. The 6+1 makes it 45-31. And Kentucky may have to think about Mississippi State next weekend while Florida looks to go to Jacksonville for the Georgia/Florida rivalry. They still played strong despite the 14-point deficit inside of 1:45 left in the game. They got a touchdown late, but it was already over as Kentucky fell to the Gators. They beat LSU last week, but couldn't put away Florida. Kentucky scored first, and never (from what I've heard) led since Florida got hot. Kentucky tried to reel in Florida as best as they could, but it wasn't to be. Since it was over already, they didn't even kick the PAT. I would have kicked it even if it was too late. (45-37; #16 Florida) *** (by ranking) upset! and big win ***

OFF-TOPIC
The CBS cameras shown off an aerial view of Lexington, Kentucky. The sunset coupled with some of the high-rises and stuff... very quiet, yet beautiful city. I'll need to read more about the city of Lexington and maybe even find some more pictures.

Texas A&M and Nebraska Require New Coaches, But a New Game (GAME OF THE WEEK - 2
* Texas A&M {Aggies} at Baylor {Bears}
Texas A&M and Nebraska are going through some changes. One for the better, one for not-so-better. The Texas A&M Aggies blown the crap out of Nebraska's Cornhuskers. (36-14; Texas A&M)

I mentioned Tennessee in the Florida/Kentucky report you just read. Alabama will be without the services of five different members of the Crimson Tide. Tennessee is told to be the best in the SEC East. Let's see if Tennessee is really as good as advertised with Alabama's five players suspended.

Is Tennessee REALLY the Best in the SEC East?
* Tennessee {Volunteers} at Alabama {Crimson Tide}
Sweet home Alabama! I'm comin' home to ya! I don't know if Lynryd Skynard was talking about the University of Alabama because Alabama is quite a sweet home for college football. The Crimson Tide will be ready to tidal wave their counterparts from Knoxville. Better bring some surf boards because the Volunteers will try to surf the waves of the Crimson Tide. Tennessee is supposed to be the best SEC East team this season? Yeah. Some "best team," especially after THIS performances. (41-17; ALABAMA) *** disappointing loss and upset! ***

SIDE NOTE
I highly respect Tennessee, but this was a pathetic performance.

It's Dessert Time Already as South Carolina is Hungry for Some Vanderbilt Cupcake
* Vanderbilt {Commodores} at #6 South Carolina {Gamecocks}
This one is going out to TwinTurbos94 and studentdriver- proud South Carolina fans. I hope to deliver some good news if they won this match. Vanderbilt University is in Nashville, Tennesseee. The Commodores are looking to mess up South Carolina so bad. They want to return to Nashville with a Gamecock dinner. The South Carolina Gamecocks, however, want some desert after beating teams like Kentucky. In fact, they want cupcake. They think Vandy is sorry. South Carolina wanted to take a bite out of a cupcake, but it was South Carolina that got eaten alive by Vanderbilt. (17-6; Vanderbilt) *** upset! ***

LSU Lost at Kentucky Last Week... Now They Meet Some More Felines in the "Tiger Bowl"
* #17 Auburn {Tigers} at #4 LSU {Tigers}
Saturday is only seven days away. Last Saturday, the Bayou Bengals got upset by another school of cats in Triple Overtime. Now, LSU wants to show America that they won't let the loss to Kentucky ruin their season. The Baton Rouge, LA school only lost three spots in the Top 25 because they played hard in a losing effort at Kentucky. LSU can most likely rise up as South Florida lost last night. Auburn's Tigers want to be another bunch of upset-happy cats. It's the Tiger Bowl! Who'll win? The game ended on a miraculous long pass by Matt Flynn that will EASILY win "Pontiac Game Changing Performance" honors. LSU could have kicked a field goal in the closing moments, but they had some character and threw one down field for an outstanding catch to beat Auburn. (30-24; #4 LOUISIANA STATE) *** big win ***

Get ready for Big Ten action! We start in Minneapolis.

Losers 10-9 Last Season... What About This Season?
* North Dakota State {Bison} at Minnesota {Golden Gophers}
High-Test loves his NDSU boys, so let's see what NDSU can do in Minneapolis. Surprisingly enough, this was on the Big Ten Network. I usually think of college hockey when it comes down to a Dakota school up against Minnesota. I believe the University of North Dakota is still #1 in Division 1 hockey. We got college FOOTBALL here, and I'm not even sure North Dakota State either has So let's check out this match. We meet North Dakota State first. NDSU is unbeaten. Every team they met so far, they won. Sometimes winning BIG. It may not be a significant accomplishment
North Dakota State led 17-14 at thehalf as High-Test and all the NDSU faithful were ready to celebrate their great first half. Before the half ended, NDSU ripped an amazing run to about the opposing 25-yard line. What the hell has happened to Minnesota as of late? Maybe Tubby Smith should coach the Minnesota football team before making ready for men's basketball there. North Dakota State lost last year's game 10-9. They get retribution with a nice win in Minneapolis. You loving life, High-Test? (27-21; North Dakota State) *** big win, dissappointing loss ***

One of the Most Unusual Rivalries Takes Form
* Notre Dame {Fighting Irish} at #14 Southern California {Trojans} --- RIVALRY GAME: Battle for the Jewelled Schillelagh ---
How can a school in Indiana hate a team from Los Angeles? It would sound completely odd. Thing is, the University of Southern California and Notre Dame seriously dislike each other. They fight for something called the Jewelled Schillelagh. Not the schillelagh the WWE's Finlay uses, but a schillelagh studded in ruby jewels (Southern California) and emerald jewels (Notre Dame). One team will sparkle beautifully. Could it be the USCal Trojans that rule Los Angeles? Or will it be the Fighting Irish that... haven't put up much of a fight all season? Notre Dame got beat by a score they remembered before. Remember the game at Michigan in Week 3? (38-0; #14 SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA)

DID YOU KNOW...
(1) ...that this was the first shutout victory in this rivalry series since 1966? In 1966, Notre Dame smashed the Trojans 51-0. USCal's last shutout over Notre Dame was back in 1962.
(2) ...that the only two times in history that this game wasn't in South Bend nor Los Angeles was in 1927 and 1929? In 1927 and 1929 of this rivalry, both games were played in Chicago. Notre Dame won both meetings in Chicago in these two seasons. And coincidentally, both were decided by one point.

Now let's step down to some non-BCS schools, starting in my hometown of Houston with a BEAUTIFUL Saturday morning.

<- Houston Two-Step ->
One game is in Houston. The other is out of Houston. So welcome to my hometown!

Owls Are Usually Wise... Not Rice's Owls...
* Memphis {Tigers} at Rice {Owls}
Houston saw sunny skies and beautiful weather. Not a single cloud in the sky. One team has yet to acheive sunshine- Rice. They aren't the only ones because Memphis is seeing partly cloudy conditions with their season. The Memphis Tigers seemed to have found their way as this point. The Rice Owls can't believe how awesome the weather is (except for the extra warmth). It was great weather for Memphis at this game's end because the Owls took the long road back home under pouring rain. (38-35; Memphis)

Houston Hopes to Keep Soldiering On
* Houston {Cougars} at UAB {Blazers}
Too bad Houston couldn't get to enjoy the sunny skies of Houston in Houston. So it's Houston on the road against an uncharacteristic fledgling UAB team. Yes, the Blazers aren't doing very well. The Cougars improve to 4-3 on the season as they handled UAB properly. Can't take the heat? Stay away from Houston. (49-10; Houston)

-end "Houston Two-Step"

Rival States Collide as Michigan Meets Ohio
* Michigan State {Spartans} at #1 Ohio State {Buckeyes}
Relax. It's not the big one yet (U of Mich. and Ohio State). We do have THE Ohio State University ready to hit it off against Michigan State. I'm sure Ohio State can't wait to greet Michigan with Ohio State colors (and maybe a few Appalachian State and Oregon jerseys). But, the Buckeyes have to take care of some business in Ohio's capital city of Columbus. East Lansing presents Michigan State and the Spartans set to Trojan Horse Ohio State's hard drive. The Spartans never led Ohio State at ANY moment of the game. Ohio State pulled away to a win, but the margin was only seven points.

Now let's see how Michigan did.

Michigan Regained Their Stride and Have Yet to Lose Since Week 3
* #25 Michigan {Wolverines} at Illinois {Fighting Illini}
This Saturday night ABC match is a match of Ann Arbor at Champaign. This one is for Joey D who would love nothing more but to see Michigan keep beating teams left and right. It's a crazy season. The Wolverines are a mangy bunch of animals, but they got it done over the Fighting Illini. After being unbeaten, Illinois now lost two straight. Looks like Joey D is smiling from ear to ear when Michigan wins. Michigan hosts Minnesota next Saturday in the battle of one of college football's most popular rivalry trophies- the Little Brown Jug. I wonder if some Michigan fans will be wearing North Dakota State jerseys when Minnesota comes to Ann Arbor... (27-17; Michigan)

Fading Fast... is California Done?
* #10 California {Golden Bears} at UCLA {Bruins}
California's Golden Bears now lost two straight as UCLA's Bruins bruised the Golden Bears in the Rose Bowl. (30-21; CALIFORNIA-LOS ANGELES)[/B] *** upset! ***

I been caught up in a number of stuff besides making reports. I don't want to waste a lot of time. So I'll go with RAPID FIRE and randomly pick scores.

--- Division 1: Championship Subdivision Scores ---
North Dakota State won on the road at Minnesota of FBS. Let's see how other FCS teams fared, starting in Texas. I don't have rankings for FCS schools, so upsets are likely in blue.

San Marcos Anticipates a Wicked Match
* Stephen F. Austin State {Lumberjacks} at Texas State {Bobcats}
Texas State University was once known as Southwest Texas State University. The Bobcats rule San Marcos like Stephen F. Austin State University rules Nacodoches(?), Texas. The Lumberjacks were ripped apart like plywood when they stepped into San Marcos. Ouch! (52-29; TEXAS STATE)

Let's look at two Louisiana schools. One has a tough match against a potent newcomer while the other is trying to remain unbeaten. while the other Both are Southland Conference schools.

Second Place in the Southland Meets Next-to-Last in the Southland Conference

JOHN'S WINNERS AND LOSERS
Let's see who made the cut.

BIGGEST WIN(S) OF THE WEEK
LSU Makes a Gutsy Call to Win a Tight Game
- The Tigers of LSU were glad Matt Flynn's arm and his wide-out connected in the end zone for a killer play. The ESPN crew were stunned as were the faithful at LSU's Death Valley.

SIDE NOTE I also want to nominate for big win- North Dakota State beating Minnesota

MOST DISAPPOINTING LOSS(ES) OF THE WEEK
Tennessee's Volunteers Didn't Volunteer Enough to Prevent Alabama Rout
- Tennessee played horribly. Alabama basically beat Tennessee even with five suspended Crimson Tide not playing. Sad stuff for Tennessee, especially since the Vols were hailed as the team that controls its own destiny. You can't control your own destiny very well if you lose 41-17 like Tennessee did.

UPSET(S) OF THE WEEK (if any)
Georgia Southern Hands #1 Appalachian State an Upset Loss
- Appalachian State has a great program. So does Georgia Southern. This was a big win for a powerful team like the Georgia Southern Eagles.

OWNAGE(S) OF THE WEEK
Everything's Bigger in Texas... Even 73-6 Beatdowns
- #22 Midwestern State clobbered Texas A&M-Kingsville. The Javelinas of TAMU-Kingsville were dethroned by the Midwestern State Mustangs of Wichita Falls, TX. So...

Texas A&M-Kingsville = OWNED by #22 Midwestern State 73-6!

I have no extras. Hope you enjoyed Week 8. Week 9 will be entitled "Love and Happiness." See you then!

North Dakota State lost last year's game 10-9. They get retribution with a nice win in Minneapolis. You loving life, High-Test? (27-21; North Dakota State) *** big win, dissappointing loss ***

Basically, If either school lost, it was going to be awkward. My drive on I-94 sucked today.. Ugh.

So, Nownow, I am mildly enjoying life. :)

But Saturday was a blast. I got to meet a bunch of coll U of M kids and saw a sea of green on the top tier of the Metrodome. The Herd was in full force. An estimated 30,000 Bison fans crowded the 'Dome.

There's a part of me that still wants to attend the U. It's a long story that won't be posted as to how I ended up at NDSU. I'll PM it if anyone is that curious.

I will punch out the drunk, bigoted, belligerent a## who sat behind us if I run into him on campus. I'm that Irate with him. I had a three hour headache due to his yelling directly in my ear.

EDIT: Apparently my Chiefs beat the abominable Raiders today. All is well back home in KC. I miss Barbecue...

* #14 Florida {Gators} at #8 Kentucky {Wildcats}

It's 31-24 as Kentucky continues their comeback. The wind was out of Kentucky's sails with 11:57 left in the game as Florida punished Kentucky a little more by picking up another touchdown. Screaming at the refs like a baseball coach mouthing off at an umpire. Well... not THAT bad. At 3:35, salvation came for the Wildcats as the hookup of Andre' Woodson and Dicky Lyons resulted in a touchdown. (45-37; #16 Florida) *** (by ranking) upset! and big win ***[/I]
It was a well-fought game and there is no reason to be upset with our team. Both teams played exceptionally well but Tebow is just too much of a phenom to stop. Maybe if this had been a defense that hadn't just come into their own this game would be different, but you can't what-if and maybe a loss away. There were no "unfair catches" run back to debate and nothing that can be explained away other than Florida just has more talent. Kentucky never gave up and I respect the decision to not go for the PAT. Why risk player injuries when the game is already lost? One point wouldn't have even helped the spread, nor would it make a huge difference in the year-end review for Coach Brooks.

My Cats fought well and are still in their game. My only issue was the CBS announcers. At halftime Kentucky is down by 11 and the announcers say it is going to be a tough recovery. My thought was, weren't you guys here last week? Then in the third quarter Kentucky is down by 14 and suddenly it reminds them of last week against LSU and how the Wildcats still have a great opportunity to improve. Did someone hand them a note reminding them of last week? Why the sudden change from sounding like an impossible 11 point game was a suddenly winnable 14 point game when there was less time?
