Welcome to the new week of college football! Here is where we know a little more as to who is the truth and who isn't. This is a week where non-BCS contenders try to stay unbeaten to crash the BCS party. This is where BCS conference schools try to hang tough to make a possible postseason run. This is where the Heisman race really gets on. Welcome to a new week!

FBS: WED - SAT
FCS: THU and SAT
D2: THU - SAT
D3: SAT only

--- NFL Focus ---
It's time to look at the NFL. Today's college football players could help out NFL teams when they decide to join the NFL Draft.

Cincinnati, Ohio - Are the Bengals the Truth? Hosting Houston May Answer This Question...
* Houston Texans at Cincinnati Bengals
The Houston Texans are playing in a five-game stretch which sees them playing on the road for four of their next five games. This is the second road trip of this stretch of five games. The Texans played a complete game and played hard in taking down the Bengals. (28-17; Houston Texans)

Foxborough, Massachusetts - New England Won't Do Winless Tennessee Any Favors
* Tennessee Titans at New England Patriots
Damn! The Patriots "pwn3d" Tennessee hard. The Titans have put up a Titanic performance in the snow in the Boston area. The Patriots were that iceberg[/I]. (59-0; NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS)

Tampa Bay, Florida - Bucs Ready to Neuter Some Panthers
* Carolina Panthers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Panthers escaped South Florida with a nice win over Tampa Bay's Buccaneers. (28-21; Carolina Panthers)

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - Steelers Drape Steel Curtain Over Some Browns
* Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers won by 13, and luck was not on the Browns' side in this match. (27-14; PITTSBURGH STEELERS)

Landover, Maryland - Jim Zorn's Seat May Get Hotter With a Loss
* Kansas City Chiefs at Washington Redskins
I joked that Jim Zorn's seat is getting as hot as Summer in Malaysia. Well, the "Fire Jim Zorn" cries just got louder as the Redskins failed hosting Kansas City's Chiefs. (14-6; Kansas City Chiefs)

Oakland, California - The Eagles Will Try to Fly Out of the Black Hole With a Win
* Philadelphia Eagles at Oakland Raiders
The Philadelphia Phillies pounded the Los Angeles Dodgers 11-0 in their latest NLCS match. Can the Philadelphia Eagles keep the love flowing in the city of Brotherly Love? Nope. The Oakland Raiders won a close one against the Eagles. (13-9; OAKLAND RAIDERS)

Jacksonville, Florida - St. Louis Can Get Win #1 if They Can Put Down Some Jaguars
* St. Louis Rams at Jacksonville Jaguars
The ancient Aztecs felt that the world will end in either one of two ways- high water or jaguars. If you believe in this, then the Rams got taken over by the Jaguars in Overtime. St. Louis is STILL winless. (23-20, OT; JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS)

Minneapolis, Minnesota - Ravens Try to Bounce Back by Taking On Brett Favre's Vikings
* Baltimore Ravens at Minnesota Vikings
The Ravens took another tough loss as the Minnesota Vikings took the win in this match. (33-31; MINNESOTA VIKINGS)

New Orleans, Louisiana - The Saints Go Marching In to Beat Unbeaten Giants
* New York Giants at New Orleans Saints
A "New" team will win. But which? The New Orleans Saints handed the Giants their first loss in beat down fashion. (48-27; NEW ORLEANS SAINTS)

East Rutherford, New Jersey - Giants Lost, So What About the Other "New York" Team?
* Buffalo Bills at New York Jets
The Jets couldn't restore order for the New York City area market as they fell in Overtime to Buffalo's Bills (16-13, OT; Buffalo Bills)

Atlanta, Georgia - Falcons Play With Some Bears
* Chicago Bears at Atlanta Falcons --- SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL ---
This is a big NFC match. The Bears are ready to take on a very game Atlanta Falcons squad. The Falcons pulled the victory off here with a sweet win over the Bears of Chi-Town.

That's all. Welcome to the new week. Take care, everyone!

I haven't reported on this, but here are the first BCS rankings as of 10/18/2008:

link: http://www.ncaa.com/sports/m-footbl/division_i_a5.html

! = unbeaten

Top 5 (in order from #1 to #5): Florida! (6-0), Alabama! (7-0), Texas! (6-0), Boise State! (6-0), Cincinnati! (6-0).

Rest of the order (#6 - #25):
#6 Iowa! (7-0)
#7 USCal (5-1)
#8 TCU! (6-0)
#9 LSU (5-1)
#10 Miami (5-1)
#11 Oregon (5-1)
#12 Georgia Tech (6-1)
#13 Pennsylvania State (6-1)
#14 Virginia Tech (5-2)
#15 Oklahoma State (5-1)
#16 BYU (6-1)
#17 Houston (5-1)
#18 Utah (5-1)
#19 Ohio State (5-2)
#20 Pittsburgh (6-1)
#21 Wisconsin (5-2)
#22 Arizona (4-2)
#23 West Virginia (5-1)
#24 South Carolina (5-2)
#25 and Kansas (5-1)

These are the 25 best teams in the nation (rankings wise). The first BCS rankings of the season.

Tonight on ESPN, it's Tulsa at UTEP. This will help set the stage for this week of college football, which... as I hear, involves only one game featuring ranked teams- TCU at BYU this Saturday. Enjoy your college football!

It's another Hump Day, but it's a good Hump Day for college football. Time to see who won tonight's match.

--- Division FBS Scores ---

El Paso, Texas - UTEP = Where Good Teams Go to Die?
* Tulsa {Golden Hurricane} at UTEP {Miners}
There's some irony to this match. Hurricane Rick's remnants are supposed to find his way into Southeast Texas along with some more rainy, messy weather. The Golden Hurricane of Tulsa is ready to try to sweep its way through UTEP. The Miners will try to weather this storm as best they can. They weathered it quite well. Maybe UTEP has found its way, finally. Yet... they had to beat my f:censored:ing Cougars to find their way. (28-24; TEXAS-EL PASO)

FCS begins Thursday and continues on Saturday; Division 2 begins Thursday and goes into Saturday; Division 3 is only on Saturday

Tomorrow night on ESPN is Florida State at North Carolina. It's a good college basketball match, but these two teams will lace up and pad up for some hard-hitting football action. Take care, everyone!

One week and change before Halloween comes. Decided what YOU want to be for Halloween next week? I'm going as... myself. Let's see who all won from action tonight.

--- Division FBS Scores ---

Chapel Hill, North Carolina - One Team Will Log Their First ACC Win of the Season...
* Florida State {Seminoles} at North Carolina {Tar Heels}
Normally, Florida State would mop the gridiron with UNC on to being in the Top 20 or even Top 10. Key word = NORMALLY. Florida State's Seminoles need some kind of spark even with all the deals surrounding Bobby Bowden's future at Florida State. North Carolina is in need of a win themselves, but the Tar Heels are nowhere near what FlSU is dealing with. North Carolina was going to win until Florida State rallied to beat the tar out of the Tar Heels (30-27; Florida State)

--- Division FCS Scores ---

Baton Rouge, Louisiana - The Other Cats from Baton Rouge Ready to Pounce
* Prairie View A&M {Panthers} at Southern {Jaguars}
My sister-in-law is a Southern graduate, so I have to pay some respect to the Jaguars. Prairie View A&M came into Southern looking for a win and a chance to keep the Panthers afloat in the SWAC ranks. Prairie View A&M picked up the win in a close fight. (16-14; Prairie View A&M)

--- Division 2 Scores ---
Two close games so far. How will these two games one end up?

* #1 North Alabama at Valdosta State (62-27; #1 North Alabama)
* Cheyney at West Chester (59-0; WEST CHESTER)

Division 3 begins Saturday

The only Home victor was West Chester. Tomorrow night, it's Rutgers at Army as the Friday Night match! Take care, everyone!

Time for some Friday Night football. You know that's how you like it! ;) I'll just breeze through these in preparation for Saturday.

--- Division FBS SCores ---
* Rutgers at Army (27-10; Rutgers)

FCS Resumes Saturday

--- Division 2 Scores ---
Lane at Stillman... probably cancelled?

Division 3 Begins Saturday

That's all for this brief report. My GAME OF THE WEEK is something I am not sure of. But if there's an intriguing match, it's TCU trying to stay unbeaten when they go into BYU. Go see a game this weekend or go out to a game! See you Saturday with Saturday scores, winners and loesrs, and maybe some music!

Hello, everyone! Hope you're enjoying college football. Here are a few highlights:

* Georgia Tech takes down
* Ohio State hammers Minnesota at home (sorry, Justin...)
* an emotional game saw UConn lose at West Virginia close
* Mississippi wins hosting Arkansas

Currently:
* #25 Kansas getting overrated by Oklahoma
* Alabama is defending home well against Tennessee in a low-scoring match

A full report will come when it's done.

It doesn't have to be Halloween for people to get tricked or treated. You all know I'll treat you all well with no tricks. An entire nation of college football is ready to want your undivivded attention. So let's see this Saturday's teams go to work!

--- Division FBS Scores ---
http://www.ncaa.com/teams/m-footbl/scoreboards/top25/top25-d-fbs-scoreboard-week-main.html

Provo, Utah - "Like, OMG... BYU n TCU FTW!"
* #8 TCU {Horned Frogs} at #16 BYU {Cougars} --- GAME OF THE WEEK --
Epic win for the non-BCS conferences! You know it's a win when the non-BCS conferences have a marquee matchup, and it's the only matchup involving two highly-ranked teams this Saturday. ESPN College Gameday was in Provo to see if BYU's Cougars are ready to have the TCU Horned Frogs for lunch. Versus had the game and the call. TCU did more than survive- they dominated! (38-7; #10 Texas Christian)

~~~ Top 5 Pack ~~~
Tuscaloosa, Alabama - Crimson or Orange? Take Your Pick!
* Tennessee {Volunteers} at #1 Alabama {Crimson Tide}
In a thrilling finish, Alabama blocked a would-be upset-making field goal to stay alive by the skin of their teeth. The Crimson Tide would have surely went down hard had the Tennessee Volunteers stun Alabama. (12-10; #1 ALABAMA)
Starksville, Mississippi - Florida Stepped Into the Dog Pound... Can They Leave With a Win?
* #2 Florida {Gators} at Mississippi State {Bulldogs}
It was a close game, until the Florida Gators pulled ahead and won on a holeshot against the Bulldogs. (29-19; #2 Florida)
Columbia, Missouri - Mizzou Plans to Shut Down the Texas Longhorns
* #3 Texas {Longhorns} at Missouri {Tigers}
Time to go to Columbia, Missouri. The Tigers want to upset the Texas Longhorns out of their burnt orange and white uniforms. Texas covered Missouri like a blanket. Get some body bags... this was an ugly beating. (41-7; #3 Texas)
Los Angeles, California - The Men of Troy Seek to Defend Home from Beavers
* Oregon State {Beavers} at #4 USCal {Trojans}
I hear rumors of the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars moving to Los Angeles to become the Los Angeles Jaguars. But for now, if you want great football in Los Angeles, USCal is Los Angeles' team. The Trojans are ready to wear their cardinal and gold with pride and honor. The Beavers look to stun USCal. Didn't happen. USCal had to fight for this one. (42-36; #4 SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA)
Cincinnati, Ohio - The Keg of Nails Goes to the Winner, While the Losers Will Get Nailed
* Louisville {Cardinals} at #5 Cincinnati {Bearcats}
When a car needs to be serviced to function like new again, you have to put the car in the shop to be serviced. Well, Louisville needs to be serviced a whole lot. The Cardinals are nowhere near where they've been for most of the early-mid 2000s. Not terrible, but not good either. The Bearcats are trying to push for a BCS Bowl. The (41-10; )
-end "Top 5 Pack"
Lawrence, Kansas - Jayhawks
* Oklahoma {Sooners} at #25 Kansas {Jayhawks}
The University of Kansas is a beautiful university. Almost any angle from some of the on-TV camera shots show you just how lovely that university is. Being #25 in the nation is also beautiful. Football is NEVER a beauty contest, and Oklahoma's an ugly bunch ready to make Kansas ugly. Oklahoma overrated Kansas like it was nothing[/I]. (35-13; Oklahoma)
Miami, Florida - Hurricanes Seek Victory Against Somewhat Overrated Clemson
* Clemson {Tigers} at #10 Miami {Hurricanes}
Party time, players. It's the "U" taking on Clemson U. The Hurricanes were rocking their orange while the Clemson boys came in with the whites. Speaking of rocked, the Tigers rocked Miami, shaking their ranking of #10 to the point of falling off the top of the world. (40-37, OT; Clemson)
Houston, Texas - Keenum for Heisman? Houstonians Think So!
* SMU {Mustangs} at Houston {Cougars}
Houston is Cougar Town, and the UH Coogs are ready to pounce against a bunch of horses. A beautiful evening gave way to a beautiful night. But it won't be so beautiful if the SMU Mustangs can't do anything to halt the advances of the Cougars. They didn't do much of anything, really. The Cougars now will take on a potentially dangerous Southern Mississippi team next. (38-15; #17 HOUSTON)
Manhattan, Kansas - Wildcats are Quietly Doing Great in the Big XII North
* Colorado {Buffaloes} at Kansas State {Wildcats}
You saw that the Jayhawks fell hard hosting Oklahoma. How will the Kansas State Wildcats do against Colorado's Buffaloes? The Wildcats of Kansas State did what their rivals failed to do on this weekend- win at home (granted Kansas got Oklahoma). (16-; KANSAS STATE)
Lincoln, Nebraska - Cornhuskers Try to Get Their Heads Back Into the Game After Last Week's Embarassment
* Iowa State {Cyclones} at Nebraska {Cornhuskers}
Iowa State has never beaten Nebraska since the 1970s. The Cyclones rewrote history with a win at the struggling Nebraska Cornhuskers. (9-7; Iowa State)
Ann Arbor, Michigan - Michigan Looks to be the Kiss of Death to Penn State
* #1# Penn State {Nittany Lions} at Michigan {Wolverines}
If you felt that you'd be scarred for life if you were kissed by someone ugly, then you know the feeling that can happen when Michigan takes down Penn State. The Wolverines of the Big House will see to it that the Nittany Lions won't leave Ann Arbor with a win. It didn't work. No... it REALLY didn't work. (35-10; #13 Penn State)
Columbus, Ohio - Golden Gophers Try to Bounce Back After Getting Blanked Last Weekend
* Minnesota {Golden Gophers} at #18 Ohio State {Buckeyes}
Minnesota got themselves a touchdown to save face, but it was already too late for the Golden Gophers to do any further damage against Ohio State. (38-7; #18 OHIO STATE)
South Bend, Indiana - Fighting Irish Seek Huge Win Over Boston College
* Boston College {Eagles} at Notre Dame {Fighting Irish}
This crucial tilt was decided by Notre Dame as the Fighting Irish defended home turf against the Eagles. (20-16; NOTRE DAME)
Seattle, Washington - Huskies Hungry for Duck Meat
* Oregon {Ducks} at Washington {Huskies}
The only remaining unbeaten in the Pac-10 heads up to Seattle to meet the Washington Huskies. The Oregon Ducks are a great football team, unless their uniform choices make you think otherwise. The Huskies got their tails handed to by the Ducks. (43-19; Oregon)
Ypsilanti, Michigan - Two Winless Teams Look to Win for the First Time This Season
* Ball State {Cardinals} at Eastern Michigan {Eagles} (29-27; Ball State)
Honolulu, Hawaii - Paradise for Hawaii Can be Purgatory for Boise State
* #6 Boise State at Hawaii (54-9; #6 Boise State)
Now on for Winners and Losers.
Notable wins and losses:
(Because I haven't completed this soon enough, I'm disregarding this.)
My UPSET OF THE WEEK is...
...(tie) #3 Bloomsburg loses to Shippensburg and #3 Wheaton loses at #12 North Central!
These are a stereo pair of upsets in Divisions 2 and 3. #3 was NOT the lucky number in Divisions 2 or 3.
My OWNAGE OF THE WEEK is...
...Brevard OWNED 77-7 at #20 Carson Newman!
This was a big time beat down for Carson Newman.
This week's song is a soft number with a sweet beat. Check it out, it's "Beautiful Burnout" by Underworld:
Take care, everyone! And I'm sorry I didn't get this in sooner enough.
This weeks Big 10 action.
#6 Iowa remains unbeaten (barely). The Hawkeyes of Iowa won on the very last play of the game on a 4th and goal play with 2 seconds left on the clock.Iowa escapes out of East Lansing Michigan by a slim margin.Iowa has a firm grasp on that Big 10 titlle,can they be beat ? The first time in school history that the Hawkeyes have ever been 8-0. Iowa Hawkeyes 15 - Michigan State Spartans 13
Columbus Ohio,the O.S.U. Buckeyes rebounded nicely following last weeks loss to Purdue.Terrelle Pryor got back on his game and that tough Buckeye defense was on cue,holding Minnesota to just 7 points. Ohio State Buckeyes 38 - Minnesota Golden Gophers 7
Penn State goes into Ann Arbor and dismantles the hosting Wolverines.(No big surprise),would have been nice to see Michigan show up and give some effort in helping their own cause and to help others in the Big 10 by knocking off P.S.U.,just wasn't meant to be.Michigan pretty much writes off their hopes of a Big 10 title with this loss.
Penn State Nittany Lions 35 - Michigan Wolverines 10
Evanston Illinois,saw the home team Wildcats come from 25 points behind to take a win over Indiana.This is the largest ever comeback in school history.Northwestern Wildcats 29 - Indiana Hoosiers 28
West Lafayette,Indiana saw it's home team Purdue win it's second game in a row.The Boilermakers handed Illinois yet another loss to their already woefull season.Purdue Boilermakers 24 - Illinois Fighting Illini 14
