Because I haven't gotten a chance to file an official report, I'm going to make my Sunday report a quick one. This will be somewhat a sad one for me because it was around this time last year that I had to deal with Hurricane Ike. I was away for 12 days, missing all the action and keeping my college football viewers concerned. This time, all is well.

So here now is a quick report on all of Sunday's action.

Division FBS Scores
Source: http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaaf/scoreboard?w=1&c=all&y=2009

--- RAPID FIRE ---
* #8 Mississippi at Memphis (45-14; #8 Mississippi)
* Colorado State vs. Colorado (23-17; Colorado State)

Division FCS Scores
Source: http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaaf/scoreboard?w=1&c=iaa_all&y=2009

* #16 South Carolina State vs. #25 Grambling State (34-31; #16 South Carolina State)

Division 2 Scores
http://www.d2football.com/scores/2009-09-06

* Virginia Union at Central State (45-0; Virginia Union)
* #14 Tuskegee at Miles (23-16; MILES)

(Division 3 begins Thursday this week)

That's all. People are still buzzing on YouTube on the BYU/Oklahoma pick I made. Have a happy Labor Day! But be sure to come back later tonight to see results of the two Labor Day matches.

Just because it's Labor Day doesn't mean I don't have to do any work. So it's time to see who all won from the two Labor Day matches. It's FBS only here.

Division FBS Scores

Piscataway, New Jersey - The Birthplace of College Football Meets a Former National Champion
* Cincinnati {Bearcats} at Rutgers {Scarlet Knights}
Let's face it. New York City = BIG! The Tri-State region- BIG! Since there isn't a Big East football school in New York City that can lay claim as New York City's team, it's the State University of New Jersey who play the role of New York City's team. Rutgers just didn't know what hit them. The Scarlet Knights fell victim to some good old-fashioned Bearcat whoop-ass. (45-17; Cincinnati)

Tallahassee, Florida - The Best Sunshine State Team That Isn't the Florida Gators is...
* Miami {Hurricanes} at #16(?) Florida State {Seminoles}
It's the University of Miami and Florida State University about to play for bragging rights. These are two of the most storied programs in all of college football. Can the Hurricanes blow away a ranked Florida State? The boys from Coral Gables pulled off a nice win at Doak Campbell Stadium, stunning the Seminole Nation in the process. (38-34; Miami)

That's it for this report. No more action until Thursday. I'm going to name the USCal at Ohio State game as my GAME OF THE WEEK for this week.

#8 OSU -vs- #3 ranked USC this weekend in Columbus.

A true test of what both teams could possibly have this year for an early on battle in the NCAA.

#8 OSU -vs- #3 ranked USC this weekend in Columbus.

I can't wait. I ended up getting tickets for it. 50 yard line b deck. Should be great seats.
GO BUCKS!!!

Another fan of the Scarlett and Grey.........👍

I'll be a Notre Dame fan this weekend as well - beat "M"

Notre Dame is favoured to win against Michigan this weekend, which history tells us, spells bad news for the Irish. I expect a close game and this will truly show whether or not Michigan have start to dig themselves out of the hole they dug themselves last year. Beating Western out of the gate by as much as they did was good, but now we are going on to a Big 10 matching. I didn't get a chance to watch the fighting Irish on Saturday but they have to be feel good coming off a shut out...even if it was only against Nevada.

It's going to be a good game no matter what, I'll be in Grand Rapids so I'll have to find a bar somewhere and knock back some brews while watching the game...although that's Grand Valley and Western Michigan territory so I don't know how easy it'll be to find a game...and even harder to find a non-sour Western fan.

As a little bonus, here's something I posted on another message board:

The first football game in over 69 years for Old Dominion University (Norfolk, Virginia) ended up as a victory against Division 2's Chowan. The Monarch of ODU beat the Hawks of Chowan University (Murfreesboro, North Carolina) 36-21. Old Dominion is among a number of universities and colleges that have reinstated or starting football. Such other schools include Campbell (Buies Creek, South Carolina), North Carolina-Charlotte, North Carolina-Pembroke, Texas-San Antonio, and Lamar University (Beaumont, Texas) among others.

Congratulations, ODU! By the way... ODU plays at S.B. Ballard Stadium at Foreman Field. They play football in the CAA. Here's the rest of their 2009 schedule:

* 9/12 - Virginia Union
* 9/19 - at Jacksonville
* 9/26 - Monmouth
* 10/3 - at Fordham
* 10/10 - Presbyterian
* 10/17 - Campbell
* 10/24 - at Savannah State
* 10/31 - Georgetown
* 11/7 - North Carolina Central
* 11/21 - at Virginia Military Institute

Good luck to the Monarchs' football team.

ODU is a team I like in basketball, especially women's basketball. But it's good to see ODU return to football. Last year was the return of football to Campbell University. Now it's on to Old Dominion.

Hope you all get to enjoy whatever kind of games you're looking forward to this weekend.

A few Mississippi players had the flu, many of which recovering from the flu. I heard as many as 26 players had flu-like symptoms for the Ole Miss Rebels. Always remember that my thread is your thread. So go ahead and chat about upcoming matches this weekend. And don't forget, make your picks for biggest win and biggest loser each week. I'll offer some suggestions, but it's up to you to name your biggest winners and losers each week.

Coming up in tonight's games, ESPN has some action in the ATL as Clemson meets Georgia Tech. Then on ESPNU, it's Florida A&M at Winston-Salem State. There should be a good Division 2 game on CBS College Sports. I'll have results of this game and any other random nonsense in my Thursday report. Enjoy tonight's games!

This weekend is the anniversary of two terrible incidents. Remembering September 11th is for Friday, and remembering one year since Hurricane Ike impacted my sector of the United States. Hopefully, I can make you happy with college football chatter.

Atlanta, Georgia - Yellow Jackets Ready to Sting Clemson
* Clemson {Tigers} at #15 Georgia Tech {Yellow Jackets}
It's Atlanta. It's the ATL. It's Hotlanta. Call it what you want, but we're talking about the capital of the Peachtree State. It's home to universities like Georgia Tech, Georgia State (starting football soon), Clark Atlanta University, and Morehouse College among many others. Tonight, we're talking about the Yellow Jackets. These boys are about to meet some boys in purple and orange. The Clemson Tigers are looking to insecticide the Yellow Jackets. For most of the first half, Georgia Tech was well ahead. In the second half, Georgia Tech fell asleep. But thanks to a late field goal followed by an interception, Georgia Tech avoided being embarassed. (30-27; #15 GEORGIA TECH)

Division FCS Scores
Source: http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaaf/scoreboard?w=2&c=iaa_all&y=2009

Because of some bad weather that came my way, I'll be brief here.

* Florida A&M at Winston-Salem State (34-10; Florida A&M)
* Pikeville College at Tennessee Tech (51-10; TENNESSEE TECH)
* Union College at Southeastern Louisiana (69-20; SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA)

Division 2 Scores
Source: http://www.d2football.com/scores/2009-09-10

My apologies. There was no action from Divison 2 covered on TV. So here's the two games:

* Campbellsville at Carson-Newman (38-10; CARSON-NEWMAN)
* Arkansas Tech at West Alabama (35-30; WEST ALABAMA)

Division 3 Scores
Source: http://www.d3football.com/schedule/2009/2.html

* Wagner {from FCS} at SUNY-Maritime (41-10; Wagner)

John's Student Lounge
I was watching the Georgia Tech vs. Clemson match with some Papa John's pizza. In addition to that, I tried out that new Cinnapie. Cinnapies are essentially these cinnamon sticks that are rounded like a pizza and sliced up. They were pretty good and a nice bit of dessert to go with your pizza.

Whether or not I can supplement scores for Friday and Saturday depends on the weather. I am unable to give you these scores in time, be sure to check my sources to see who won what games. For now, this report is over.

Tonight's ESPN match is Colorado at Toledo. It's Big XII vs. MAC. Be sure to check in for the results of this game and a few Division 2 and Division 3 matches as well. Also since it's September 11th, I will take a look at how most of our military schools are doing this season in college football.

This and more in my next report!

I extend my deepest thoughts and prayers to all the victims from the tragedy 9/11 brought. Everyone has a story, all sad. So I just want to extend those dedications to everyone whom have been affected in some such way.

I wanted to take a look at the military schools as I usually do on September 11th, but I've canceled that.

Toledo, Ohio - Rockets Look to Tame Some Buffaloes Without T-Mac or Yao Ming
* Colorado {Buffaloes} at Toledo {Rockets}
Both teams wear gold, but neither team has been golden lately. Colorado used to be a fairly good contender. Now, they're crap. Toledo was a pretty potent MAC school. Now, they are... mediocre at best. Colorado is the new Duke (as far as lethargically bad teams go). The Buffaloes can right the ship if they get by the boys from Toledo. The Rockets of Toledo are ready to blast off over Colorado's offense. Colorado is still winless as they've lost to two non-BCS schools. (54-38; TOLEDO)

FCS Resumes Saturday

People, go out to a game or go see some games on TV! Maybe listen on radio or something. Just get out and enjoy this Saturday! I don't think I will, with the chance of heavy rain here in Houston this weekend. It may hamper my ability to give you scores. But always remember... even if I haven't completed my full report, you may always chime in here with scores. Don't just wait on my report. You're free to chat college football even when I'm not here. Since I'll be home this Saturday, what I may start doing is preparing mini-reports of games that have been completed. Then in my final report, I'll just make mention of those that I already briefly covered.

So go see/listen a game!

Hello, everyone! Here are a few headlines, as promised:

Current FBS Headlines
* Michigan State defeats themselves late as Central Michigan defeats themselves
* Wisconsin holds on against Fresno State
* Nebraska's 2-0 in hammering Arkansas State. Up next, AT Virginia Tech!
* #19 North Carolina survives in Connecticut
* Duke hammers Army.
* Wake Forest hangs on against a scrappy Stanford team.
* Cy-Hawk Trophy belongs to Iowa with a 35-3 victory for the Hawkeyes.

That's your quick look. Full report to come when it's done.

I am floored MSU lost their game against Central today, I guess anything can happen in football. Hopefully Michigan pulls out a win against the Irish, the game is pretty good right now.

Oh man! The Michigan game was exciting although I'm a bit miffed at Michigan for letting it get to that point. They should have never threw that interception. Oh well a win is a win.

Some great NCAA football today :

Congrats - Michigan,beating #18 Notre Dame.I am still on the fence concerning big blue,great offense,defense is very suspect though.I am really liking the "true freshman" quarterback,Tate Forcier,congrats on a well played game young man.Welcome to the Big 10.

#8 O.S.U. -vs- #3 USC - Awesome game,not the best result :indiff:,but it truly was an awesome game.Both teams played great,but at the end,it was USC who put on a great drive,also led by a "true freshman" quarterback Matt Barkley - welcome to the PAC 10 Matt,you showed a lot of promise.

John - you have to be one of the happiest guys in Texas right now.:)

Houston upsets #5 Oklahoma State 45 - 35
#2 Texas destroys Wyoming 41 - 10
#16 TCU beats Virginia 30 - 14

A good day for Texas football fans.

I had to avoid Hurricane Ike on this day last year. I was away for over 12 days. No Ike this year. So here now is what I was unable to do on this weekend last year.

Now with each GAME OF THE WEEK, I'll display scores much like I do for Bowl Games.

Division FBS Scores
Source:

Columbus, Ohio - "Collision in Columbus" (GAME OF THE WEEK)
* #3 USCal {Trojans} at #8 Ohio State {Buckeyes}
"You are looking live at Buckeye Stadium in Columbus, Ohio!" It's being billed as the "Collision in Columbus." Two multiple-time national champions are ready to clash at the Horseshoe. Ohio State has seven National Championships while USCal has 11. The Trojans will look to Matt Barkley to be the man under center while T. Pryor will try to get his Buckeyes to take down USCal at their house. Let the "can't win the big one" chants continue as Ohio State fails to foil USCal. The Trojans managed to make a great comeback to take down the Buckeyes.

FINAL:
#3 Southern California - 18
#8 Ohio State - 15

Let's go elsewhere around the nation!

Madison, Wisconsin - Canines and Rodents Play on the Grass
* Fresno State {Bulldogs} at Wisconsin {Badgers}
Staying in the Big Ten, let's go to Wisconsin's only Divison 1 football school- the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The badgers of America's Dairy Land will host some boys who'd rather drink fine wine than milk. No, I'm not promoting underage drinking... I'm talking about maybe the only American university where you can learn how to make wine. Fresno State whines about nothing because the Bulldogs are hungry. So are Wisconsin's Badgers. While it took overtime, Wisconsin tamed the boys from Fresno with a great win (34-31, 2OT; WISCONSIN)

East Lansing, Michigan - In-State Foes Collide
* Central Michigan {Chippewas} at Michigan State {Spartans}
East Lansing, Michigan-based Michigan State University has been around for more than 150 years. People and times change within a century and a half. Cultures change, developing better minds changes, but one thing remains the same- nothing like college football! That's what the Spartans are ready to do. They'll need to take down Michigan's best non-BCS school. The Chippewas of Central Michigan University are a scrappy bunch. Michigan State defeated themselves in the dying moments of the game as Central Michigan pulled an epic stunner. (29-27; Central Michigan)

Hartford, Connecticut - A Final Four-Style Match Between Two Impressive Basketball Schools
* #19 North Carolina {Tar Heels} at Connecticut {Huskies}
This city draws better crowds for UConn's basketball programs. Ditto for North Carolina. This is a football match with an improving UConn and a pretty good North Carolina. The Tar Heels hope to make footprints all over UConn. However, the Huskies are battle-tested and well-groomed to sink their teeth into some UNC booty. North Carolina wins a defensive struggle, narrowly surviving getting upset. (12-10; #19 North Carolina)

West Point, New York - The Lesser of Two Awful Football Teams is...
* Duke {Blue Devils} at Army {Black Knights}
From one basketball school to former football National Champions... the Duke Blue Devils can't find the winning touch on the football field. Maybe a trip to West Point, New York will help. I'm sure the Black Knights will gather 'round and slay the Blue Demons that threatens Army's football field. Army could beat the Blue Devils of Central Connecticut State, but not Duke's Blue Devils. (35-19; Duke)

Ann Arbor, Michigan - Someone Will Remain Unbeaten After These Two Old Foes Collide
* #19 Notre Dame {Fighting Irish} at Michigan {Wolverines}
The Big House. You fear getting locked up in the pokey for any reason. You fear having to be thrown into the Lion's Den for your crimes. You more than likely fear playing against Michigan. The Fighting Irish are ready to fight UFC-style in the ultimate of cages- the Big House. It's where the Michigan Wolverines can make ANY team submit. Who taps out in this one? Find out! Fellow Texan, Stonum (Michigan) had an awesome coast-to-coast kickoff return for a touchdown with 34 seconds left in the first quarter. Michigan wanted a maize-out. What they got was a blue and maize knockout of Notre Dame. The Wolverines go to 2-0. Forcier forced the issue and lead his team to victory[/I]. (38-34; MICHIGAN)

Houston vs. the Big XII South Pack
Houston's two FBS teams go on the road against two powerful Big XII South teams. How did both do?

Lubbock, Texas - Owls Ready to Square Off Against Some Boys in Red and Black
* Rice {Owls} at Texas Tech {Red Raiders}
First, Rice. The boys from Houston represent the private university in the shadow of the Texas Medical Center. They play in the football field that used to be the home of Houston Cougars' football. The Owls will try to prove they are wiser than the Red Raiders of Texas Tech. The Red Raiders weren't impressed one bit against Rice. The Lubbock boys (and girls) dined on Owl meat. (55-10; TEXAS TECH)

Stillwater, Oklahoma - Cougars' Toughest Test This Season Awaits Them
* Houston {Cougars} at #5 Oklahoma State {Cowboys}
Houston and Oklahoma State were rivals when both played in the Missouri Valley Conference in the 1950s. These two are playing each other yet again. The Cougars came off of thrashing Northwestern State, now head into this tough upcoming game at Oklahoma State. Houston will face Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, and go to Mississippi State as far as BCS teams go. For now, the Cougars will try to take down Pistol Pete's boys. The Cowboys (or Pokes) are poised to slap around the Houston Cougars. Houston shocked the Cowboys on the road despite not playing great defense{/B] (45-35; Houston)

DID YOU KNOW...
...that this is Houston's first win on the road against at Top 10 team since beating Texas in November 1984? And also that this is Houston's first-ever win against any Top 10 team since beating Wyoming in 1988? Another fact- NONE of the players on Houston's roster were born when Houston beat Texas on the road in 1984. This was also back in the Southwest Conference days.

Houston gets Texas Tech in two weeks, and Oklahoma State hosts Rice next week.

-end "Houston vs. the Big XII South"

Knoxville, Tennessee - The Blue Tick Hound Wants to Bite Into Some Sky Blue boys
* UCLA at Tennessee (19-15; California-Los Angeles)
Behind Ohio Statium, Neyland Stadium seats LOTS of people. About maybe 103K people. This stadium is the heartbeat of Volunteer nation as they host some boys from L.A. Non-football school, Belmont University, aren't the only Bruins in Tennessee because the UCLA Bruins are looking to rip into the Tennessee Volunteers for lunch. The Bruins tamed the Volunteers proper. (19-15; California-Los Angeles)

New Orleans, Louisiana - The Big Easy Welcomes a Team That is Anything But Easy to Beat
* #9 BYU {Cougars} at Tulane {Green Wave}
It's back to the Louisiana Superdome with the Tulane Green Wave. They'll be hosting the BYU Cougars, still riding high after stunning Oklahoma last week (and saving my ass on YouTube in the process). BYU were probably looking ahead to Florida State next week, but they'll take a beatdown win in New Orleans. (54-3; #9 Brigham Young)

Charlottesville, Virginia - These Cavaliers Might Need LeBron James...
* #16 TCU at Virginia {Cavaliers}
The University of Virginia remains star-crossed on the football field. The Cavaliers just want to win a game for once. Hosting Texas Christian University probably won't help much. The Horned Frogs are no cupcake in this match. It isn't like TCU is Sam Houston State or William and Mary. Virginia's fail-tastic ways continue. (30-14; #16 Texas Christian)

Laramie, Wyoming - Longhorns Take a Field Trip to Wyoming
* #2 Texas {Longhorns} at Wyoming {Cowboys}
I know hardly anything about Wyoming. I know more of the other boxy state, Colorado, more than Wyoming. I do know that Wyoming (at least the city of Laramie) loves their Cowboys. They love Cowboys and hate Longhorns, especially of the University of Texas variety. There might have been a Mountain West upset of a Big XII team last week, but not this week. Texas branded and hogtied the Cowboys. (41-10; #2 Texas)

Ames, Iowa - Hawkeye State Pride on the Line
* Iowa at Iowa State
Iowa Hawkeyes. Iowa State Cyclones. Who's the best FBS team in Iowa? Iowa, without a doubt. (35-3; Iowa)

Athens, Georgia - Bulldogs Hungry for Gamecock Meat
* South Carolina at #21 Georgia
Time to meet northern Georgia's other team- the University of Georgia. These boys are jacked and ready to bite into their competition. That includes some Bulldogs wanting to eat some fresh poultry. South Carolina came to town looking to shock the Bulldogs. Didn't happen. The Bulldogs finally woke up later in the game and took care of business. (41-37; #21 GEORGIA)

Baton Rouge, Louisiana - The Best College Football Team in Louisiana Has Everybody Saying "Geaux Tigers!"
* Vanderbilt {Commodores} at #11 LSU {Tigers}
Shaquille O' Neal was in the house in Baton Rouge's version of Death Valley. The Tigers of LSU and Commodores of Vanderbilt wear gold, but only one team can be golden. Maybe Shaq being in attendenace was fitting because they just slam dunked Vandy's offense. Now if only LSU's men's basketball team can have the same amount of success LSU's football team has... (23-9; #11 LOUISIANA STATE)

El Paso, Texas - Men's Basketball National Champions Collide on the Football Field
* #24 Kansas {Jayhawks} at UTEP {Miners}
Mining for gold? UTEP's Miners aren't getting any gold. Kansas' Jayhawks only compounded UTEP's woes. (34-7; #24 Kansas)

Auburn, Alabama - Cats or Dogs? The Debate Continues...
* Mississippi State {Bulldogs} at Auburn {Tigers}
Jordan-Hare Stadium shown the Bulldogs that Tigers are better than doggies, especially Auburn's Tigers. (49-24; AUBURN)

Murfreesboro, Tennessee - Blue Raiders Host a Potent Bunch of Boys Who Also Wear Blue
* Memphis {Tigers} at Middle Tennessee State {Blue Raiders}
The Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee aren't sorry, but Memphis played like an FCS team on this day in Murfreesboro.

Finally, one more mention:
Minneapolis, Minnesota - Golden Gophers Christen New Stadium
*
Finally, I'd like to welcome a baby stadium to the world- TCF Bank Stadium. Minneapolis will have a new stadium as the Golden Gophers will do their battle at their new home. Now the wait is for the Minnesota Twins to get out of their nice football field (made boring by making it a baseball park) to their new stadium. For now, the Golden Gophers defended home ground from the Air Force Falcons (20-13; MINNESOTA)

Other random scores:
* James Madison at Maryland (38-35, OT; MARYLAND)
* Weber State at Colorado State (24-23; COLORADO STATE)
* Jacksonville State at Florida State (19-9; FLORIDA STATE)
* Murray State at North Carolina State (65-7; NORTH CAROLINA STATE)
* Ohio at North Texas (31-30, OT; Ohio)
* Idaho State at #13 Oklahoma (64-0; #13 OKLAHOMA)
* Illinois State at Illinois (45-17; ILLINOIS)
* Pittsburgh at Buffalo (54-27; Pittsburgh)
* Idaho at Washington (42-23; WASHINGTON)
* Marshall at #14 Virginia Tech
* New Hampshire at Ball State (23-16; New Hampshire)
* Southeast Missouri State at #23 Cincinnati (70-3; #23 CINCINNATI)

Okay! Here are some of the notable games I've selected for "Winners and Losers." You are free to name your own, but here are my games of mention:

Notable Games for "Winners and Losers"
This is to help you to name your winners and losers from this week of college football. I want you to name YOUR biggest winners and losers of these, or of any other game played this calendar week.

* Colorado losing to Colorado State, then get hammered at Toledo.
* Central Michigan beating Michigan State.
* Miami finishing off Florida State.
* Rutgers failing to show up at home against Cincinnati.
* Ohio State losing to USCal.
* Northern Colorado beating San Diego at home.
* Davidson losing to Division 2's Lenoir-Rhyne 42-0 at home.
* Maryland winning in OVERTIME against James Madison.
* UCLA going to Tennessee and beating the Volunteers.
* Michigan coming of age in beating Notre Dame in come-from-behind fashion. Forcier is the truth!

Now while you make your own picks for Winners and Losers, here are my Upset and Ownage winners.

My UPSET OF THE WEEK is...
...unranked Houston beats #6 Oklahoma State
!

I know #4 Hardin-Simmons lost at Linfield in Division 3, but I think Houston's win at Oklahoma State was a great victory. Houston's defense was abysmal at Oklahoma State, but despite this, special teams and the offense picked up the slack. Being a homer did not play a role in this. Maybe, but I'm not picking this one just to be a homer.

My OWNAGE OF THE WEEK is...
...Central State OWNED 68-0 by Southern!

Baton Rouge's other favorite cats won this match in amazing fashion. Second place goes to Cincinnati hammering the Redhawks of Southeast Missouri State 70-3.

That concludes another week. Time to conclude with a music video. The theme I've thought of for this report is somewhere along the lines of sneaking up on you and being there at the end. That's why I came along with this song:

^ "I Will Be Here"
by DJ Tiesto and the Sneaky Sound System

Next week's report will be the 2009 debut of NFL Focus, whereas I will make a focus on how NFL teams did. This time, I may even include results of Monday Night Football and maybe other days that the NFL plays. But you come for college football. So you may still see me do the NFL Focus only on Sundays. Saturday night means electronic dance music, so expect nothing less from me. Take care, everyone!
