Yes, you should say "that team up north". Sorry to see your cougars go down, I actually got to watch a bit of that game. Great day for the buckeyes as we won definitively and it looks like we're going to get both Baylor and Oregon off our backs, plus a loss from that team up north. Braxton is really looking like he should be a heisman candidate, especially after Johnny Football's poor performance in Baton Rouge and Petty's eminent loss. In regards to GSU vs FLA, I can't imagine how those Florida fans must be feeling. All I can say is "ouch". And no, you can't have Urban back ;)

Meanwhile Kansas is embarrassing themselves against a 1-9 (soon to be 2-9) Cyclone team in Ames. 8 degrees up there at kickoff. Thank god it's basketball season

DOWN GOES BAYLOR!

Down goes #4 Baylor... in flames. Baylor should have brought that Baylor Bears team from 1939 that beat Oklahoma State at OK State. This was just a bona fide beat down as the Baylor Bears got cooked well done by the Oklahoma State Cowboys. These ferocious Bears were more like teddy bears to Oklahoma State. It just felt like things got bad, and then they just get progressively worse. Baylor could do very little to suppress the Cowboys' offense as they fell hard.

In fact, this was about as bad of a beating as when Miami played at Florida State earlier this year. Man. Sad night if you're a Baylor fan.

Oh man! Well, now the IRON BOWL*said in masculine voice* will most likely be between two top 5 teams. Oooooo, that also puts pressure on Ohio State. Will the computers like Ohio State or Auburn more. Also, You know what it is:ROOOLLL TIIIIDDDEEE ROOOOLLL! 49-0 our third shut out of the season.

Bragging about shutting out a division II opponent is like Kyle Busch bragging about winning a truck race.

The Houston Cougars hosted a very good 8-2 Cincinnati Bearcats team today. End result? We failed. It was 24-17 in favor of Cincinnati. So it's going to be either UCF or Louisville to represent the American Athletic Conference in the BCS Bowl action. I think our final match of the season is at home against SMU.

Tough one @JohnBM01 . Look at it this way, it's your first year in a new division and you did quite well. You've still 1 more to go your sitting in good shape. Your Bowl Eligible as well. :cheers:

Up next for the Buckeyes... at Michigan. Or should I say... that school up north. Two teams that likely won't be singing songs and exchanging gifts with each other will clash next week in Ann Arbor.

Yup, it's rivalry week here in Ohio, and for that state up North of us. We are not exactly on each others Christmas Card lists. There is no love lost between these two teams. This week is what O.S.U. fans wait for all year. This week is what That Northern School waits for all year as well. The only thing that matters for these two arch enemies are the bragging rights and the chance to play spoiler.

This clock runs 24/7 - 365. It's located in the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. It's the official countdown clock for O.S.U. -vs- That Team From Up North. (older pic, but you get the idea of how serious this game is for O.S.U.) Rumor is that The Team From Up North has one too ... IDK.

Well, now the IRON BOWL

People are already getting ready for this one.

Oooooo, that also puts pressure on Ohio State.

The pressure is on 'Bama and FSU. They both need to win if they want to go to the big dance in January. O.S.U. will thump "that team from up North". Combine that with a miscue by 'Bama or FSU ... O.S.U. slips in and takes the spot away.

Yes, you should say "that team up north".

It's that time of the year when one cannot say that forbidden name.

it looks like we're going to get both Baylor and Oregon off our backs

breathing a little easier now.

And no, you can't have Urban back

Amen brother :bowdown:

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Rivalry week --- it's here. Let's have some fun.

Now it's bash That Team From Up North week. (It's all in jest ..... just having fun)

Question : What do you do when a Team From Up North person shows up at your door step ?
Answer : You pay him for the pizza.

Question : How do you make Team From Up North cookies ?
Answer : You put them in a bowl and beat them around for 3 hours.

Have you heard the news ? Brady Hoke is only going to dress 22 players for the game against Ohio State. The rest of the players have to dress themselves.

GO BUCKS !!!

WAR EAGLE! Iron bowl week! SEC championship berth on the line! Jordan-Hare stadium will be electric.

So Oregon and Baylor lost big this week. That makes the natl championship race down to 3 horses (iron bowl winner, FSU, OSU)

Hahaha @Nicksfix I laughed out loud several times. And nice picture. Can't wait for this stomping to commence.

Also what if Mizzou wins the SEC championship??? Eh? Ehh?

There isn't anything to far fetched in the world of College Football. The possibility lingers. These final weeks of the '13 season is going to be so drama filled that it's actually kind of scary. Nothing will be sacred until the fat lady sings. The list of scenarios that "could still possibly" unfold is staggering. These last few weeks are going to be real interesting, to say the least.

Here are the latest BCS standings by the way. LINK

One of the reasons why I love college sports more than I do pro sports is because of weeks like this. Sports rivalries are nothing new. Rivalries are just more fun in the collegiate ranks than in pro ranks to me. Rivalries such as Ohio State vs. Michigan and Duke vs. North Carolina surpass or meet the intensity of pro rivalries like the New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox. If ever there is a time to care about college football in the regular season, this is the week.

Here is a look at some of the many games coming up this weekend:

TUESDAY:
* Western Michigan at #14 Northern Illinois

THURSDAY:
* Texas Tech at Texas
* Mississippi at Mississippi State (Egg Bowl)
* Stillman at Alabama State (NCAA FBS game)

FRIDAY:
* SMU at Houston
* East Carolina at Marshall
* Arkansas at #17 LSU
* Florida International at Florida Atlantic
* Washington State at Washington
* #16 Fresno State at San Jose State
* Oregon State at #13 Oregon
* South Florida at #19 UCF

SATURDAY:
* #24 Duke at North Carolina
* #2 Florida State at Florida
* Rutgers at Connecticut
* Kansas State at Kansas
* Ohio State at Michigan (Nicksflix/DegenThought vs. Joey D Special!)
* Southern vs. Grambling State ("Bayou Classic" - NCAA FCS game in New Orleans)
* Tulane at Rice
* Northwestern at Illinois
* Purdue at Indiana
* Georgia at Georgia Tech
* #1 Alabama at #4 Auburn (Iron Bowl)
* Iowa State at West Virginia
* #6 Clemson at #10 South Carolina
* Louisiana-Monroe at Louisiana-Lafayette
* #25 Notre Dame at #8 Stanford
* #21 Texas A&M at #5 Missouri
* #22 UCLA at #23 USCal

These are among countless other games this weekend. Playoffs are underway in NCAA Division 3 and NCAA Division 2. The playoffs in NCAA FCS will start up this Saturday. If you are interested in this season's FCS playoffs, here is a look at the qualifiers:

http://www.ncaa.com/news/football/a...ta-state-begin-fcs-title-defense-no-1-overall

Teams like North Dakota State, Fordham, Sam Houston State, Coastal Carolina, and countless others will be competing for the 2013 National Championship in NCAA FCS. No- Georgia Southern (who beat Florida this past weekend) is not in this season's FCS championship.

Good luck to all of your teams this Thanksgiving weekend. Yes- even your rivals; I'm all about being a good sport.

Couldn't agree more. There's just something about the collegiate rivalries that is so intense, a feeling that is completely lacking at the professional level. They aren't paid, they don't have millions of dollars of endorsements, these kids play their hearts out for games like this. This week is what matters.

May the best teams win

I am looking forward to the Iron Bowl this weekend but I am not as hyped for Mich v. OSU. I am hoping Michigan can keep it within two touchdowns.

At least they can spell in Ann Arbor.

So, the funniest thing about the gators getting whooped by that small school is that they had to pay them $50 million too.

You mean this wasn't the funniest part?

It has to be hands down the dumbest play I have seen. Heck the buttfumble is bad but its different. I think one can only hope that these two players are colorblind.

Last night, #14 Northern Illinois won 33-14 to remain unbeaten. I believe all that's left for NIU is to win the MAC Championship game. We'll see by then what Bowl NIU will end up win. If the NIU Huskies don't win the MAC Championship Game, they may end up in a very good non-BCS Bowl. Just because you run over everybody else doesn't mean you're a lock to go to a major Bowl if you're from a non-BCS conference. Take Ball State once. They had an undefeated season but end up getting blown out by Buffalo in the MAC Championship Game. Or (sadly)... look at my Houston Cougars a few years ago with Case Keenum as our QB. We could have had a Rose Bowl berth or something... until Southern Mississippi embarrassed us on National TV (typical for Houston sports) and ended up winning the Conference USA title back when UH was in C-USA. All Northern Illinois can do is just win all the rest of their games and maybe get some help from those ahead of NIU in the BCS rankings. The BCS won't be a factor any longer starting next season once the College Football Playoff system is implemented.

Anything can happen. All I do know is that we got a lot of good football coming up this weekend. As for Florida's woes... I still think it is depressing to lose to Georgia Southern (and at home) for it to mark a losing season. If you're going to fail, you'd rather it be against a powerful and talented team- NOT a team you could have easily run over. I would hate to imagine that team be another FCS Georgia team- Savannah State- that beats Florida in their house. No matter how you look at it, epic fail for the University of Florida this past weekend.

Nothing beats the butt fumble, but that's pretty bad

I disagree. We have seen plenty of times where a player gets knocked down by his own player inadvertently. In the above example, its pretty hard for it not to be inadvertent unless the two Florida players have a combined IQ of a thimble.

Gotta remember, that play still gained the Gators some positive yardage. The butt fumble was a broken play that ended in disaster. Also, the butt fumble involved NFL players although Sanchez isn't exactly an NFL caliber quarterback lol. Both are awful and Florida is a mess this season. They have a lot of injuries which hasn't helped them any. The SEC east is down this season aside from Mizzou and USC. Georgia and Florida have had off years due to injury, and Vandy, Tenessee, and Kentucky aren't doing that great. IMO and this is very biased with me being an Auburn fan but the iron bowl is the SEC championship game this season.

Nothing like Thanksgiving and football- even college football. If you only care about one week of college football, let it be this one. A lot of big matches are on the card for this weekend.

Good luck to all of your teams this weekend.

Yes, happy thanksgiving to all and best of luck to all your teams...that is unless your team is blue and yellow and located in a state north of Indiana and Ohio and east of Wisconsin

Last night's Egg Bowl finish was insane! It was a 17-10 victory in Overtime as Mississippi State beat Mississippi. The game was at Mississippi State. Mississippi was going to tie the game until the Rebels fumbled the ball into the end zone. The Bulldogs of Mississippi State ended up beating their rivals.

Couple of games going on right now as of this post- SMU at Houston (24-0, Houston at the half) and Iowa at Nebraska. Enjoy some college football today and tomorrow.

DOWN GOES FRESNO STATE!

The Spartans of San Jose State hosted unbeaten Fresno State and handed them a 62-52 whooping. Now, the only non-BCS hope lies in Northern Illinois. The Bulldogs of Fresno State are no longer unbeaten thanks to SJSU.

My Houston Cougars snapped their 3-game losing streak with authority. A 34-0 shutout of the SMU Mustangs ended up snapping the Coogs' losing ways to end this season. So our losses: vs. BYU, at Central Florida, at Louisville, and vs. Cincinnati. So we're 8-4 and probably heading to (according to a prediction) the Liberty Bowl.

Elsewhere...
* Iowa went into Nebraska and kept that crowd silent with a 38-17 win.

* My heart goes out to our CAM, whose East Carolina Pirates got thrashed at Marshall. ECU's trip to Huntington, West Virginia didn't go so well- a 59-28 beat down courtesy of the Thundering Herd.

* Florida International at Florida Atlantic. Omnis is an FAU guy, so did the Owls of Boca Raton take down the Golden Panthers from Miami? You bet. 21-6 was the score as FAU beat FIU.

* The Arkansas Razorbacks headed down to the LSU Tigers for a good old rivalry game. Baton Rouge, Louisiana saw the Bayou Bengals win 31-2?. The win was bittersweet, though- as LSU's QB left the game injured.

* The Steel City Kitties hosted 'dem boys from "The U." Must-win for Miami if they are to have any ACC title game hopes. Lot of offense early on- especially by Miami. Miami was already up 14-0 after only about three and a half minutes into the game. The Hurricanes went on to win 41-31.

* The Apple Cup was on the line in Seattle. Crash's Washington Huskies tamed the Washington State Cougars 27-17.

Congratulations to all other winners from today's games and tonight's games up to and beyond the time of this post.

The Texas A&M at Missouri game is a game the Aggies can win. My confidence, however, is very shaky that TAMU will actually pull it off. It is going to be a good match regardless.

It's go time! A Saturday of rivalries (and other big matches) are on tap today. NCAA FCS starts up postseason play. Take it all in- it's going to be a great day. That is... as long as your team(s) win.

Good luck to all of your teams today and tonight.
