One of many games coming up this weekend is North Carolina at Miami, which is tonight. Enjoy this weekend's action, regardless of what games interest you this weekend.

Enjoy today's/tonight's games! The big one tonight is #4 Ohio State at #9 Penn State. I wonder how much calamity will ensue this weekend after some of the crazy upsets and big wins last week.

A number of games coming up this week. The biggest of them may be the Red River Rivalry (Texas vs. Oklahoma). Here are some other games this week:

* #1 Alabama at Arkansas
* #4 Clemson at Wake Forest
* #5 LSU at #22 Florida
* Arizona State at #21 Colorado <<< COL is 4-0
* Indiana at #3 Ohio State
* #13 Kentucky at Texas A&M
* #10 Washington at UCLA
* #6 Wake Forest at #24 Virginia Tech
* Stephen F. Austin State vs. Sam Houston State <<< NCAA FCS; in Houston, TX; "Battle of the Piney Woods" rivalry

Go enjoy some college football this week!

Week 6 of NCAA Football kicks off tonight with a couple of games. Check it:

* Tulsa at Houston (ESPN)
* Georgia State at Troy

Remember that since we are deeper into the season, a lot more conference play will be coming up, as opposed to the various non-conference games. I hope your favorite team(s) are doing well so far this season. Enjoy this weekend!

Enjoy your college football today and tonight, folks! Games coming up at 12:00 PM Eastern Time (rankings not listed)...

* Texas vs. Oklahoma
* Maryland at Michigan
* Alabama at Arkansas
* Kansas at West Virginia
* Boston College at North Carolina State
* Syracuse at Pittsburgh

These games and more are on tap for today. I may pop into this thread to share a few musings.

This was a big win for Texas earlier today. While I am normally a University of Houston fan (we beat Tulsa back on Thursday), I have great respect for Texas Longhorns' football. This win more than makes up for when Texas lost to Maryland to start the 2018 season.

More musings...

* #15 Michigan did good against Maryland. Like, 42-21 good. I still think Michigan can be a Playoff team if they can win out.

* Michigan won, but how did the other B1G Michigan school do? Well, they failed- Northwestern winning on the road at Michigan State 29-19.

* Don't look now, but wvumidget's West Virginia Mountaineers are now 5-0! Okay, so they beat the Kansas Jayhawks at home 38-22, but a win is a win. WVU is still undefeated.

* Another underrated team this season is former Big XII school Colorado, who defeated Arizona State 28-21 at beautiful Folsom Field in Boulder, CO. Colorado is also undefeated.

* I see where Tennessee is currently 2-3 overall and 0-2 in the SEC East. Tennessee is ahead in conference of Vanderbilt and Missouri, though both Vandy and Mizzou are 3-2.

* I can't believe UCLA is winless! UCLA is not known as a football power, but they are 0-4 and about to host Crash's #10 Washington Huskies.

* The big match to come is #6 Notre Dame at #24 Virginia Tech. Many believe if Notre Dame wins this game, they may have inside track to the College Football Playoff with hardly any remaining competition ahead of the Fighting Irish.

* As I type, I learned #22 Florida upset #5 LSU in The Swamp. HUGE win for the Florida Gators!

Congratulations to all other winners up to and beyond the time of this post.

[Currently] Tropical Storm Michael may likely impact a number of games in the Southeast, as it is heading towards the Gulf of Mexico part of Florida. This could even impact Alabama games, and not just the University of South Alabama. So you all please be careful if in the path of Michael.

Still a long season to go. So keep playing hard if your team(s) is/are doing well. Time to improve if your favorite team(s) is/are down. Well... thanks for reading this post!

Good luck to all of your favorite teams.

Time to amuse you with some college football musings. See what I did there? Anyhow, let's rock it...

* Usually on Petit Le Mans weekend, this was the week I'd have a motorsports-themed look at college football. I even touched up on universities that do Formula SAE, Formula Student, and stuff like that.

* Time to do this big. Real B1G. I still believe in Michigan to make the College Football Playoff. Though, I think Michigan will have to win out to solidify their playoff entry. Win out and maybe win the B1G championship. Meanwhile... Wolverines Nation, enjoy your 38-13 evisceration of Wisconsin.

* From one proud program in the B1G to another... for the first time in over 129 seasons of football, Nebraska starts the season 0-6. They lost in Overtime at Northwestern 34-31. So Scott Frost is STILL seeking his first win as coach for one of college football's proudest programs.

More importantly... sing along, GTPlanet!

* DOWN GOES GEORGIA! DOWN GOES WEST VIRGINIA! DOWN GOES WASHINGTON! DOWN GOES PENN STATE! How the mighty have fallen. Georgia suffered their first loss in a 36-16 beat down at LSU. West Virginia is bested for the first time this season at Iowa State (and those rather sweet looking black uniforms from Iowa State) winning 30-14 at Iowa State. Oregon needed Overtime to sink Washington 30-27, basically ending Washington's College Football Playoff hopes (sorry, Crash...). Michigan State stuns Penn State 21-17 on the road. Chaos in the Top 10.

* Houston teams talk. I learned my Houston Cougars took down the East Carolina Pirates 42-20 at East Carolina. Rice (Houston's rival) got destroyed 42-0 at home against UAB. Texas Southern got smacked at home against Grambling State in this "Tiger Bowl" 34-21. And finally, Houston Baptist lost a basketball-on-grass game at Southeastern Louisiana 62-52. So... my Cougars are the only winners from H-Town this week. Methinks me happy.

Congratulations to all other winners from this week's games, even including the other Top 25 upsets in NCAA FBS.

After the chaos of last week, here is only the Top 10 of the NCAA FBS heading into this week's games:

! = currently undefeated

01: Alabama!
02: Ohio State
03: Clemson! <<< CLEM had a Bye week
04: Notre Dame!
05: LSU
06: Michigan
07: Texas
08: Georgia
09: Oklahoma
10: UCF!

Top 10 chaos happened this past weekend with teams like Georgia and West Virginia (among others) fell. It is not time to think College Football Playoff right now, but these losses could definitely plays into which four will play for a National Championship. The general consensus will believe that Alabama and Notre Dame are currently in. What the other two best will be remains to seen.

Here are some of the Top 25 matches this week:

* #20 Cincinnati at Temple
* #6 Michigan at #24 Michigan State
* #9 Oklahoma at TCU
* #16 North Carolina State at #3 Clemson
* Colorado at #15 Washington
* #1 Alabama at Tennessee
* #22 Mississippi State at #5 LSU
* #2 Ohio State at Purdue

Lot of action to come. These are only a few of many matches to come this week.

Care to chime in on the state of college football right now? Do so now! Go!

Tonight, we got two games... at least on the NCAA FBS level. It will be these two games played tonight:

* Georgia State at Arkansas State
* Stanford at Arizona State

I hope you get to enjoy this week of college football action. Good luck to all of your favorite teams.

I hope you enjoy this week of college football no matter what game(s) interest you. It is possible I offer some musings on completed games. There has to be some kind of entertainment to provide right? So go enjoy some college football!

I still believe in Michigan. And of course, nothing like taking down a rival. So congrats to Michigan Wolverines Nation! More thoughts now...

* So Michigan won. How did Michigan's best friends... uh, bitter rivals, Ohio State do? Well good news, Wolverines fans- they FAILED... HARD! That's right- DOWN GOES OHIO STATE! No. 2 Ohio State were bested by Purdue in a rout- a 49-20 rout.

* Winning feels good, doesn't it, Nebraska? Nebraska FINALLY figured it out and got themselves a win. They smashed Minnesota 53-28 in Lincoln, Nebraska.

* Staying in the B1G, Blitz24's Rutgers Scarlet Knights played in a low-scoring match at home to the Northwestern Wildcats. Not a good afternoon in Piscataway, New Jersey as the Scarlet Knights fell 18-15.

* DOWN GOES CINCINNATI! Regulation solved nothing in Philadelphia, so let's go to Overtime! Undefeated no more is Cincinnati after falling 24-17 to Temple in Overtime.

* Another one takes a trip to the woodshed. That team? Tennessee. Even the 100K+ fans in attendance at Rocky Top weren't enough to will the Volunteers to defeat Alabama. 'Bama rolls 58-21 over the Vols.

* Crash's Washington Huskies did good today. The Colorado Buffaloes lost in Seattle 27-13.

* Some people will think basketball schools don't have great football teams. Well right now, the University of Kentucky is doing great. They defeated the visiting Vanderbilt Commodores 14-7 tonight.

* On the FCS side, Blitz24's Fordham Rams fell 42-41 hosting the Bulldogs of Bryant University.

* Some people think Georgetown is a basketball school. Well, the Georgetown Hoyas have a football team, and their football team won 22-16 in Double Overtime at home to the Lehigh Mountain Hawks.

* You probably know of NCAA FCS upsets over NCAA FBS teams. Well, what about NCAA FCS teams losing to teams NOT in FBS? That's what happened to Jackson State in hosting the lions of NCAA Division 2's University of North Alabama. And they lost bad- 24-7.

* Two schools I cheer on in NCAA FCS took each other on. It was the Cardinals of Lamar University who won at home 41-23 over the visiting Sam Houston State Bearkats.

* Finally, the school you REALLY care about- my University of Houston Cougars! Worry not, Cougar Nation... we did good! Coogs handled business in Annapolis, MD against the Navy Midshipmen 49-36. Houston's only loss so far this season was at Texas Tech.

Congratulations to all other winners from this week's games.

This coming Tuesday will be the first College Football Playoff rankings. Almost everyone thinks the Top 3 are Alabama, Notre Dame, and Clemson in that order. Some others are in disagreement with who is 4th. Some say LSU. Some say Michigan. We'll see how the first official rankings come out.

After their fail earlier tonight on the road, #6 Texas may have had their biggest stumble when they were at Oklahoma State and lost 38-35. Texas was down by a big amount early.

One other musing to share is that the University of Houston upset #21 South Florida with a 57-36 victory. South Florida was undefeated heading into today's game here in Houston. We are the only team in the American Athletic Conference's West division with a winning record.

Hopefully your favorite team(s) won this week also. Congratulations to all winners from this week's games.

After handing the South Florida Bulls their first loss of the season, my Houston Cougars are ranked No. 17 in the nation. However, AP polls don't mean too much at this point because the first of the College Football Playoff rankings for this season are set to be unveiled tonight.

Tonight is huge because we will learn the first of the College Football Playoff rankings. The CFP committee will announce the first of the rankings of what the top four teams in NCAA FBS college football are. We also will know what the "First Two Out" are among the four best. Many people are in agreement with the order of Alabama, Notre Dame, and Clemson as the Top 3. Some others question who is No. 4. Two different predictions have LSU at No. 4, and some others think Michigan could be No. 4. Regardless, we will have a great idea as to who the better teams really are after tonight.

Don't wait on me to post the first College Football Playoff rankings- just check into here and discuss the top 6 teams.

After their fail earlier tonight on the road, #6 Texas may have had their biggest stumble when they were at Oklahoma State and lost 38-35. Texas was down by a big amount early.

Under-reported on this game was that OSU put up almost half of their points in the first quarter (17 out of 38 total) while Texas was holding out three starters (two on defense) for being late to team meetings. The backups at those positions on defense played poorly. This was a head coach trying to maintain order on a team that over the years has been known for discipline issues. I don't think it's surprising that it's seniors who were the problem.

Let me ask you one important question- who's in? Let's talk College Football Playoff! Here are the first rankings of the CFP for 2018:

--- Playoff Four; Oct. 30, 2018 ---
01 - Alabama
02 - Clemson
03 - LSU
04 - Notre Dame
--- First Two Out; Oct. 30, 2018 ---
05 - Michigan
06 - Georgia

You cool with these rankings?

Hey! Any of you watching the Temple at UCF game right now? I think those space-themed uniforms on Central Florida look very cool! There are these little star accents as well as a nice looking blue stripe down the center of the UCF helmets. The theme for UCF for this game and those uniforms is "UCF in Space," or the hashtag #UCFinSpace . Temple is sort of giving No. 12 UCF all they can handle. Good game so far.

It's 42-34, UCF with about 3:40 left in the 3rd Quarter.

Top 5 SEC match- #1 Alabama at #3 LSU. Top 10 SEC match- #6 Georgia at #9 Kentucky. Notre Dame is undefeated as they pay a visit to Northwestern. Whatever college football you're interested in this weekend, enjoy the action!

I may check in as usual an offer some musings. Until then, good luck to all of your favorite teams.

Hey there! :) What's good, folks?

* It's time to go B1G or go home. Michigan ain't scared of no Nittany Lions. No. 14 Penn State fell at Michigan 42-7.

* Time to Boiler Up! Dolph Drago's Purdue Boilermakers did REAL good in a down-to-the-wire thriller. It was a 38-36 victory for Purdue at home against #16 Iowa.

* Another thriller was in Austin in the Big XII. Texas seemed prime to knock off West Virginia, but No. 17 Texas fell to wvumidget's No. 13 West Virginia Mountaineers. 42-41 was the score as Texas now has back-to-back losses.

* Syracuse has a 7-2 record now, their best since 2001 after smashing Wake Forest 41-24 at Wake Forest.

* Unbeaten talk. Alabama remains undefeated with a 29-0 hammering of LSU at LSU. Notre Dame escapes Northwestern with a 31-21 victory in Evanston, IL. Clemson had NO problem with Louisville- a 77-16 exorcism at home.

* The winner of Georgia at Kentucky clinches the SEC East. And by a score of 34-17... it's Georgia. So we basically have our SEC Championship game- Alabama vs. Georgia.

* My Houston Cougars were bested, sadly. Houston lost 45-31 at SMU. This is even though Ed Oliver played for Houston's defense against the SMU Mustangs. Houston now has only lost to Texas Tech and SMU.

* What is it like to be 1-7? Just ask Connecticut and Tulsa. So when two sorry schools compete against each other, does it really matter who wins? Tulsa won 49-19 over Connecticut. The game was at Tulsa.

* Navy usually is great in football. Not so much this year. Cincinnati was pretty baller in their 42-0 blanking of Navy in Cincy.

Plenty of other games around the United States, so congratulations to all of this week's winners. Better luck next time to all losers from this week.

[UPDATE] Forgot to post score of Penn State at Michigan.

Tonight is the next round of College Football Playoff rankings. The only change I can see right now is how far LSU will drop after losing bad to Alabama. The general consensus still has Alabama, Clemson, and Notre Dame. Maybe this is where Michigan will slot in among the playoff four? The updated rankings will appear tonight during halftime or so of college basketball tonight. So if you don't mind watching a little college hoops outside of college football, be sure to check out the latest rankings.

And as a segway, be sure to check out the college basketball thread for college hoops discussion!

Time for the latest College Football Playoff rankings.

--- College Football Playoff: Top 4 (Nov. 6, 2018) ---
1: Alabama
2: Clemson
3: Notre Dame
4: Michigan
--- College Football Playoff: First Two Out (Nov. 6, 2018) ---
5: Georgia
6: Oklahoma

And there you go. So my thoughts of Michigan slotting into the Playoff Four are confirmed. The CFP matches would go like this:

* Alabama vs. Michigan
* Clemson vs. Notre Dame

Share your thoughts on these latest rankings or get ready for this week's action.

There was already one bit of chaos this week, as Wake Forest stunned #14(?) North Carolina State on the road. Will more follow? I hope you're enjoying this week of college football!

I knew Temple wasn't a gimme, and I was right. My Houston Cougars failed tonight 59-49 at home. This is now back-to-back losses for the Coogs.

Elsewhere...

* ...Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame, and UCF all remain undefeated after all have played today. It was bitter sweet for Alabama, though, as Tua T. left the game injured.

* Northwestern won the West Division of the Big Ten with a win at Iowa. The Wildcats will meet the winner of the B1G's East Division in the B1G Championship game.

* So Michigan and Rutgers hooked up again in the shadow of New York City. This game taking place in the home of the first ever college football game- Piscataway, New Jersey. Good news for Rutgers- you scored on Michigan (unlike the 77-0 annihilation from last season)! Bad news for Rutgers- you still still lost. Like, 42-7 lost.

* Oklahoma survives Bedlam with an offensive shootout. The Sooners won 48-47 at home against the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

Congratulations to all other winners from this week.

Tua won't finish the season, his knee won't hold up. He probably won't play against The Citadel next week. If he has to play a lot against Auburn he probably won't be able to go against Georgia. It's a shame considering he hurt it in a slide against Missouri.

First few minutes of the Michigan/Rutgers game were ugly. Glad to see they played better after that.

Michigan State absolutely imploded in the 4th. The were in that game until then when they made mistake after mistake and pretty much gifted the W to Ohio State.

Things probably won't change too much, but don't forget that tonight is another night of College Football Playoff rankings. So be sure to check out what the latest rankings will be later tonight.

Meanwhile, do you need some MACtion in your life? Well, you're in luck! We got Western Michigan at Ball State later tonight. Then tomorrow night, MORE MAC football with games like Buffalo at Ohio, Miami University (Miami of Ohio, of course) at Northern Illinois, and Toledo at Kent State.

That's all. Go enjoy this new week of college football! Also, don't wait on me to post the latest CFP rankings. Just check in and discuss if you like about the latest Playoff rankings.

I must apologize- I did not even see the latest rankings live tonight. Therefore, I had to look online for the latest rankings. So I hit up Twitter for the latest rankings. Here are the latest College Football Playoff rankings...

(! = currently unbeaten)

--- College Football Playoff: Top 4 (Nov. 13, 2018) ---
01 - Alabama!
02 - Clemson!
03 - Notre Dame!
04 - Michigan
--- College Football Playoff: First 2 Out (Nov. 13, 2018) ---
05 - Georgia
06 - Oklahoma

So the six teams from last week remain unchanged. If any of these 6 are bested this weekend, you can be sure we will have a different Top 6 come next Tuesday.
