Bill Belicheck has interviewed twice with UNC. It was very surprising and they say his interest is real. Supposedly he wants his son Steve to be named the coach in waiting. He wants to coach next year and we have to see what happens. At 1st I thought was a publicity stunt to draw more interest to the job but if INC was able to pull this off that would be quite the coup for the school and the ACC. This may not happen but we have to wait and see

Some musings coming up.

* Congratulations to the 10th-ranked Boise State Broncos on winning the Mountain West Championship! They won 21-7 against 20th-ranked UNLV Rebels at home.

* Congratulations to the 24th-ranked Army Black Knights on winning the American Athletic Conference Championship! In their first year in the American, Army continued their lovely season by smashing the Tulane Green Wave 35-14.

* Georgia and Texas went at it again. This time, for the SEC Championship. Georgia won the last time these two met. And... they won again over the Longhorns. Regulation solved nothing, though. So it was 19-16 in Overtime, Georgia over Texas.

* Jmup_ace's Oregon Ducks remain undefeated by defeating CommanderBond's Penn State Nittany Lions 45-37 for the Big Ten Championship.

* SMU had an excellent regular season campaign in the ACC. Unfortunately, it was the Clemson Tigers that bested the SMU Mustangs 34-31 on a game-winning field goal for the ACC Championship.

* Easy money for Arizona State. The Sun Devils smashed the Iowa State Cyclones 45-19 in the Big XII Championship.

* Easy money also for Jacksonville State for the Conference USA Championship. The Gamecocks easily toppled the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky 52-12.

* An all-Ohio affair for the MAC Championship came down to the Ohio Bobcats and the Miami University (or Miami-OH) Redhawks. Not even Ben Roethlisberger could save Miami-OH on this day. Ohio won 38-3 in Detroit.

* The Sun Belt Championship goes to the Marshall Thundering Herd over the Louisiana-Lafayette (or just Louisiana) Ragin' Cajuns 31-3.

The final College Football Playoff rankings will be revealed on Sunday. Get ready for that!

That was a fantastic game tonight. Penn State earns that #3 rank for sure.

Respond, react, discuss... whatever you wish.

I am glad Bama didn't make it. Get they beat Georgia but they had a bad loss to Oklahoma and SMU deserved to make it. I don't feel bad for Miami either. They have to look at their coach. They had a chance at the end of the Syracuse game to win it. On 4 & 15 and time winding down they could have went for it but decided to kick the FG and trust a defense that up to this point in the season hasn't proven they can stop anybody. Glad to see Boise St got a bye they deserved it. The only team they lost to was No.1 Oregon and it was a close game. Anyway this will be interesting

I don't think Alabama got screwed out of a National Championship opportunity. This was not one of the dominating or empowering seasons of Crimson Tide football. I do feel a bit surprised SMU got in and not Alabama. The only way you feel Alabama got screwed is if you have a mentality like it's your birthright to make the postseason. It would be like if people complained that Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, Michigan State, Indiana, UCLA, or Gonzaga fail to make March Madness despite having crap seasons.

The First Round matches I am rather interested in are Clemson at Texas and Indiana at Penn State. I don't see Tennessee knocking off Ohio State or SMU downing Penn State. I COULD see Indiana possibly upsetting Notre Dame. Clemson at Texas could be decided by no more than 9 points. However, I think Texas will hold serve in that game. At least schools like Clemson, Texas, Indiana, and Notre Dame can play to their temperatures and climates without much issues.

I'm happy for Boise State to be a National Championship contender. Boise State in football is usually seen like Gonzaga in basketball. It is that little school capable of doing some big damage in football. It would be the ultimate underdog story if Boise State somehow won it all. That is... if Oregon, Georgia, and/or Arizona State have anything to say about it.

This first-ever 12-team playoff should be fun and interesting. I sure want to see how this goes.

So UNC hired Belicheck. It was really big news in here the Triangle. The Tarheels swung for the fences and hit a home run. I think Belicheck has something to prove and I think the UNC football will benefit from it. Or it may be a disaster who knows. One of the jokes that has been floating around is Eli Manning needs to get some eligibility and come play with NC State. If he is successful it will raise the profile of the ACC where is it still considered a basketball power conference but not so much whne it comes to football. Again we will have to wait and see what happens
