Colonel Gadaffi Killed

Always sad when a person dies!

Happy not see this one in charge of country though.

It was inevitable. Hopefully now the tribes can figure out how to get along without disenfranchising one another.

The fact that the Libyan people were able to get this far without UN/NATO or US troops on the ground gives me the sense of a job well done. Now remains the wait to see if the country can avoid splinters and further civil war.

Fair play our troops (and America's troops for the other necessary killing haha)

Surprised of the photos...but being proof it's proving to people it's done, something America's government should have thought of.

So I decided that I prefer conspiracy bozos to seeing proof on the news. I'd rather roll my eyes at a dozen people who don't believe anything from the news than to have to see footage of a dead, naked, and bloody dictator's body getting rolled around and prodded in the middle of a street.

Thanks for ruining my breakfast, cable news. 👎

Saw those rather graphic pictures of him on Sky and BBC News a few hours ago which took me by surprise. I guess NATO will wind down their involvement from here on in, and hopefully the country will remain stable as the new government is brought in as well.

Does it sightly annoy anyone else that by getting killed these guys are getting away scot free? They really should be made to face justice in a lengthy court procedure and face the stuff they have done over a lifetime.

Robin.

Well I'm sure being killed wasnt what Gadaffi wanted, so you cant say they got off scot free, as they are dead.

Personally, I agree with this attitude in all situations (hence my opposition to the death penalty). I'd much rather have guilty people be forced to live and deal with their sins for the rest of their life. It's a utopian sentiment, though.

Different cultures and different sets of beliefs, I guess. I'm no expert on Islam but I'd imagine that those who killed him believe that Qaddafi will face some sort of eternal judgement in the afterlife. /shrug

Here the image appeared at 5 pm when children watch TV. Without warning they showed the pic/ video. I didn't like that either. Bad journalism. At least they could have hold a minute to send the kids out 👎

Also agree with your post above. But these are not real soldiers, those where the people who suffered under him. So I can understand but would have prefered too that he got a trial

Pictures and video are a bit rough.

That's true. And as they started with the "Allahu Akbar" chorus I thought the next what I would see is his rolling head. But no, he got apparently beaten & then shot before. :boggled:

Sad thing, but it looks like he deserved it. Else he wouldn't had such trouble with his "fellows". :sly:

Sometimes it comes back & then it could be...

R.I.P.

As we say in my country (and similarly in many others I'm sure), "those who kill with iron, with iron die". I'm unable to feel pity because the man was a vicious murderer himself, but - and I'm sorry Villain but this isn't taking a "moral high ground", it's just how it is - I can't also rejoice with seeing anyone dying.

And make no mistake, under the right (wrong) circumstances, I'm entirely capable of killing another man. But I'm very sure I wouldn't rejoice from it.

He would have gotten the death penalty anyway, if he would have had a trial in Libya.
Everybody in that country who would have had the chance would probably have pulled the trigger. He called it all upon himself, 42 years of dictatorial abuse does strange things to a human being, one would think.

He didn't need a trial, he was guilty, and now Libya can start to rebuild their country, if the tribes can work together.

This.

Now that the man is already gone, I wonder which direction will the country follow. I really hope there is at least a new dominant political party in order to organize things and write a constitution, necessary to build the political foundation on which the country will grow upon and crucially, not turn into a political mosaic like Iraq.

That is a bit hard to believe when people celebrate the dawn of a new era by firing up rifles on the streets, presumably that's a cultural trace but still show how much oriented to war people are.

Seems there will already be problems. Some rebels already said they won't give back the weapons as weapons means power.
Not a good start by some people.
Hope for Lybia it will sort out though

Very well said.👍👍

It's great they could end the tyranny they had been living under for so long and hopefully they can establish the kind of government that suits them best. But there will never be peace in that region, there is too much friction and war is just a way of life for them. And with all the instability over there it's like a puddle of gasoline waiting for a spark.
