Coming from GT Sport, having trouble enjoying PC2

Had a bit more time on this now and @Scaff settings with a slight tweak seem to be working quite well, starting to understand the settings a little more now which helps.

I tried reducing the tone for more slip but I think it makes the car feel more floaty so put that back up, the slip is there it’s just subtle.

I’ve tried the Porsche GT3 R and the Ferrari 488 GTE at Spa, Ferrari definitely feels lighter but still getting a good amount of feedback I think.

Certainly enjoying it more now, can push the cars better. Never really driven spa too much and never the 488 gte but like it, only had time for a few laps in it but did a low 2.18 no idea what lap time I should be aiming for in this.
Good to hear and happy they helped out as a base point.

Finally starting to get some decent racing in. I have decided to turn off all aids - even the stock aids that the car has equipped.
For the road cars - I think it makes them easier to drive especially fast. Will see how things go today.
Enjoying the Bruno track - I like media length tracks that are relative smooth flowing and allow for good racing.
I could see Silverstone classic being a good learner track for someone that wants to drive the really fast cars.

I only have the plain PS4, so do wish that the graphics were a bit better. Just takes time to get used to.

The Ferrari pack, porches pack, lemans pack are defiantly worth the cost even if you only enjoy one or two cars from each pack. Several from each are quite good though and perhaps collectively as good or better then the stock content.

Any one new to PC2 would recommend turning down or off some of the camera settings, speed sensitivity, high speed shake, helmet lean etc at least on PS4. I believe this will make the motion more like GT of what you visually see.

Not sure if others would agree, but that was one of my struggles in the beginning when first getting the game and took me awhile to realize that.
I might try these settings in limited capacity as I play more often.

I do miss the in car cockpit motion blur from PC1 as in from my point of view that was fantastic. Maybe some time this year I will see about trying VR at a computer gaming center as I am sure that would take everything to the next level.

As far as I can recall the depth of field blue is still present, certainly a setting for it exists.

Personally I don't use it, but I'm sure it's still in.

The blur is only available when using helmet cam (not in cockpit view). It might need switching on via the view options.

I completely agree with you here. I'm not saying to not use it, but to have all of those features set to being on for a person just getting into the game may be a bit too overwhelming at first. Especially, for someone coming from GTS as you can't adjust any FOV and are extremely limited in being able to maneuver in the cockpit... I just LOVE the feel of sitting in the back seat of a Supra GT3 squinting out of the tiny window :grumpy:. Not.

I'd say, 90% of the time that I'm on pCARS 2, I use the regular-standard cockpit view. In this view you're able to adjust everything that you'd be able to adjust if you were in the Drivers Eye Cockpit view except the Motion Settings, Look to Apex, World Movement, Min-Max Speed Sensitivity, G-Force Effect etc.

10% of the time I find myself using the Drivers Eye Cockpit View. I use this view if I'm in certain cars on certain tracks. For example, just this past week in my Wednesday night league we had our last race with the Porsche 919 LMP1 Car at Algarve. Being that Algarve is made up of very sharp-blind corners, and massive hills I found having the Look to Apex and a few of those other settings I mentioned earlier to help be able to see.

So yeah, I'd definitely break myself easy into all of the great Cockpit View features that are at our disposal on pCARS 2.

Experiment and see what works for you and just take 1 step at a time.

Pretty much convinced that removing all the aids is the key.

Just got done doing a variety of more car testing on Bruno. I have driven several of the very fast porsche cars including the Cam Am car and I can say all are manageable now. Also just got done taking current Indy Car for a few laps and actually that felt the best out of the ones that I tested today.
Soon can start focusing on really learn the tracks and cars capabilities along with getting good racing in. Could kick myself for wasting so much time on GT Sport, but man it is a beautiful and the interface is high class and love the car history and history in general screens. If they could only get a fraction of that captured what those images and videos display...aww nevermind I think PC is doing some of that.

I think that I see some motion blur but it is minimal compared to PC1. Break time Indy at Long Beach...is on.

I would say if there was any one thing I miss in PC2 as compared to GTS it would be the livery editor in GTS as that works very well and makes custom paint schemes and decals easy to make and obtain and all handled within the game itself. The replays both graphically and presentation in GTS is first class as well.

Physics and driving though I will have to agree that that PC2 is head and shoulders better and above GTS though. I am currently playing PC2 on PS4 but plan to buy it and start playing it on the PC as I want to stick my toe into VR and need the horsepower of the PC for that.

I will buy the dlc contact packs after I make the switch to PC.

Agree with your statements. I tried making some liveries from time to time, but not that great at it. However it is fairly easy to make some two or three tone liveries "simplistic". Photo mode is excellent and will confess that spent quite a bit of time in photo mode over the last few weeks. I do think that PC perhaps has the best chance to kind of blend some of what they have without loosing any current features. I think PC need more lower power cars to go with all the short tracks it has or short track versions.

Anyways will look forward to comments from your progress to PC.

Day 3 of my new beginning with PC2.

Really starting to like PC2 now. I am not sure if it is turning off all the aids, or adjusting the brake settings for the wheel (most likely combination of several things). It is however almost night and day compared to my experiences in the past. I can say that just running laps, while only doing this for a very short time is comparable enjoyment to months of GTS. Now going off the track is from pushing to hard, being offline (not set-up for the corner), or just a few split seconds from getting slowed down enough etc. I am not experiencing any of the weird sudden loss of control. Now even driving on the edge or just slightly off track have a good chance of saving it instead of instant spin etc.

So yeah stick with it and if does not seem right then most likely it is game setting/wheel setting adjustments that need made. I could be optimistic, but do not see myself playing to much of GTS anytime soon. Maybe just to get the daily on the weekends, not sure.

Same here but just on ps4 demo for now.i didn't like the feel until i off manually each aid and adjusted the forcefeedback again.
Honestly i feel the same too about Gtsport.i wish i could get credit from sony store even 25% to put on pc2.
Pc2 demo and assetto corsa spoiled Gtsport for me now.it feels lifeless.
I'm dissapointed because there is many cars I'd love to try in gtsport if it felt real and mechanical.

Glad you "new guys" are enjoying PC2. As it's been said, it takes a little while to get to grip with it but when it all clicks into place you don't want to let it go. :)

@Jtheripper. The demo is from November 2017 and it's never been updated. If/when you do buy the full version you'll find there's been various improvements and fixes from the updates that have been released since then. Plus the extra content of coarse.

Yes thanks. I knew and wondered how much better it will be when i get the full current release.
I'll be glad to try more than what's on the demo for sure.
But i did finally find a good feel even just in the demo.

If you can afford it go for the deluxe version. It includes access to all the extra DLC, it's well worth it. I'd wait for it to be in a Playstore sale though - which it often is.

Yeah i will thanks. The dlcs are worth getting for sure since the base game's cars are mostly a repeat of the 1st game and the dlc gives us new tempting cars to try.
Unless the base game only is on a great discount sooner and then i could wait for the season pass to be on sale.

Edit:and the dlc ferraris are mostly not in assetto corsa. All the better if they complement each other's car list.

I have it on PS4 but want to switch back to PC gaming, does steam ever run good sale prices on the PC version that you know of?

Yes, could well be 50% or 60% off in the Spring sale (if it ever comes; it's late this year!).

Right now it looks like Green Man Gaming are cheapest - the Deluxe Ed. is just over £20, bargain! (GMG are an official reseller, not one of the shadier key sites).

A useful general PC game buying guide I happened to find just now: https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/where-to-buy-pc-games/

Was not aware of this site and I did not know whether buying on the other side of the pond would cause any issues or not. Definitely a great price on PC2.
Thanks for the advice as I have already bought PC2 for my PC and it is downloading on steam now!

I would not recommend turning them off at all.

In both AC and PC2 (and unlike GTS) the bumps and surface can have an impact on the car, and the cam movement is often the only way you know you have gone over a bump.
Don't notice and you try breaking as you go over a bump and you run the risk of loss of control.

Little things that are not even a factor in GTS become far more significant in PC2 and AC.

Yeah, I've never seen it that cheap even on the seedier cd key sites, so you picked a good time to ask!!

Steam keys are basically all region-free, AFAIK, so it doesn't matter where you buy.

I think the Japanese Cars Bonus pack is the only content not included in Deluxe, don't tend to see that outside Steam. Looking back I bought it full price, don't know if it ever goes on sale or not.

Happy driving!

I m on ps4. Couple of years ago, i bought pcars 1 goty digital version (with all dlc’s). Then I bougth pcars 2 and the first version had been deleted from my console. During past year, I been playing gt sport, pcars2, assetto... but yesterday I installed pcars 1 again and ran some laps on Spa. Is it me or this 1 version is better than 2? - On terms of graphics, feelings, IA. I play the game on a logitech g29.

Now, wait a minute here! This is something i never gave thought to.

Please, for those of you who have the original project cars game on ps4, answer this question for this man!

If the original is better, I'm going to buy it the second I get home because I'm having great enjoyment from Project Cars 2

Really? Are you playing on ps4? Wheel or DS?

I have both PC1 and PC2 on the PS4 platform and personally I prefer 2 better than 1. To me 2 just seems a lot more polished or something.

I am playing with a wheel.

Thanks for your reply... What do you think about:
- Graphics - Do you consider PC2 better on this aspect? I note that PC1 has better texture details (trees, track, car details).
- FFB - I´m using a g29, and sometimes I feel that the car doesn´t respond to my wheel...
- Speed feelings - I think that PC1 wins on this aspect, when I´m using the cockpit view seems that on PC2 all moove more "slowly" than PC1.

Hehe well i only have the demo of pc2 for now but for a long time i felt the same from trying the demo on ps4 with a g29 too. But last time i tried it i changed a couple of settings in ffb and i off manually all aids and it finally felt better. But some cars for me in pc1 feel good like the old fastback mustang but i cant compare it sadly for now. The resolution of textures are lower for sure in pc1 but it still looks good to me. The replays look and sound better to me on standard ps4 with a cleaner smoother image except for some stuttering. In gameplay from the cockpit pc2 looks better i think. The ffb in pc1 i don't know maybe i need to try fix it more but its much less detailed for sure and the sliding feels not so good in many cars, like arcade.
Like i said, some cars feel great to me, the old mustang feels natural. The sound is good too.
I don't particularly like that much the cars and track in pc2 demo from what i tried. I'm curious to try other cars and track when i get the full pc2 for sure.
That's my 2 cents, for what it's worth from an old demo.

Edit: also the a.i. is more fun in pc1 compared to the demo of pc2 where they seem more robotic.

PC1 has a much better sound mix with a higher volume level than PC2 as a result I get great effects from my tactile transducer - sadly due to the low volume I don't get enough signal for my transducer in PC2.

I can't say any other differences are particularly noticeable. There are some cars where the default setup is much better in PC2 or PC1 e.g. PC1 Lotus 51 is great, PC2 Merc 300 SL is great.

PC2 has more cars and tracks and overall is the better title.

What's a tactile transducer lol?
It reminds me of when they tried put on the market a smell dispersing hardware hehe. Well to me it was a good idea. You could smell the engine overcooking or the tires burning or the smell of morning air, i imagine. It be very immersive. It was a series of small pouches electronically stimulated under and in back of your seat i think.
The lotus 51 is the indy car right? I remember it was uncontrollable with a gamepad lol, a big difference when with a wheel.

While I feel pCARS2 is the better game all round (tracks and manufacturers certainly fair better) the one thing I miss from pCARS1 is the superior anti-aliasing. They had a temporal filter (?) slider in the options that would adjust motion blur etc. Was nice. The second game is terribly jaggy on my base PS4. My only real gripe.

EDIT:
I almost forgot. One thing that is far superior in the second game is the default car setups actually tend to be decent and driveable. Used to spend weeks in the first to tune a car so I like it. Far more cars in the second game I can jump in, make minor tweaks and then go have some fun. That's something I don't miss from pCARS1.
