Hey everybody,
First off, welcome to the new site! It's a very long time in the making, and Jordan has really outdone himself on the new design. You'll notice a lot more functionality is built into it now (like buttons, @ references just like most social media, and other things). For the full list of new features - and if you haven't already - check out the announcement at the top of your page, or just click right here! If you have a question, ask here, and if you've discovered a bug with the new site in general, report it here.
Jordan introducing the new platform today was sort of fortuitous for us in the Photomode section; you'll see why if you go to view any of our poll threads. This is the big difference with GTP12; no URL or IMG tags are allowed in polls anymore.
A moment of silence for our fallen pretty, pretty picture polls
However, Nato and I have a new solution, and while it's not as pretty as before, it does solve a problem we had for the past few years. You will see new polls within a day or so, and in the main section of the first post, between the rules and the deadline, you'll see this new image:
(2.0's shown)
And under it, the judge's selections for the week. They will follow the following format:
Poll Entry #01
Poll Entry #02
And so on and so forth (images care of @nato777 and @zzz_pt ). Users will now have to read through the main text of a poll thread (or at least scroll by it ), and then cast their vote in the poll up at the top of the page. For the time being, the poll options will simply be the same text that is found under their respective images; we explored short descriptions, but that could prove dicey with things like scenery shots or CCCL.
Other than that small hiccup, polls will act the same as before; users will not be allowed to vote for their own entries, and the polls will be public, allowing all users to see who voted on what. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to voice them in here!
But wait, there's more! You may have also noticed GTPlanet now hosts user images! Just drag and drop a file from your hard drive into a post, and the Attached Files section of the new post should provide you with the necessary info. For the time being, however, the thumbnail option doesn't quite line up with our preferred sizes in the comps, but that will be changing shortly. For example, here is the 2.0 banner with the thumbnail option:
And with all that, welcome again to GTP12. We've got a lot of exciting things cooking behind the curtain that you'll see shortly
