Should have a near fully operational gallant going into the final 2 stages, despite a front on smash into a tree at start of stage 5, its quite a miracle. Nursed her through stage 6, replaced the engine, radiator and turbo. Then thankfully had two of the best and cleanest stages in this whole championship so far.

Boy am I glad thats over. I tried my best to throw it away at multiple points.

2 massive rolls early on that ruined the performance of the car and a head on smash into the bridge on the penultimate stage that that I was lucky to continue from. Somehow still provisional lead somehow. Others must have had even worse times out there if its possible.

@Speedster502 I take it back, The Cossie is an understeering mess. Oceania isn't much fun 😁
Yeah, I really couldn’t find a rhythm for these stages. I ran out of time before another work trip (joys of being a photographer - albeit off to photograph Formula E), so I’m out of this round with around 4 stages left. I suspect this is my championship hopes over sadly.

I wasn’t having a roaring time anyway, so suspect I would have fallen outside of the points in the end.

Results will take a little longer to come out tomorrow, I’ve had to kick 5 drivers using the Delta, I have to stand firm with that rule now and if they rejoin and continue with the Delta then they will be banned.

I will be adjusting the leaderboard to ensure the disqualified cars aren’t on the board, so take the final results and championship standings with a pinch of salt tomorrow. Going to be a challenging bit of admin for the final few rounds😅.

Cracking run at Oceania @space_wadet Well done. 👍
Thanks! Means a lot coming from you, as you're usually the time I use as a target to improve :D I was lucky that you had issues and that this was the first rally I didn't have any issues or major incidents, otherwise I doubt I could have kept up.

Even without issues I'm not sure I would have bean able to reach you. Fair play👏

first time driving this rally,i went totally blind, had a few scrapes here and there but i lost a lot of time at the last two stages because my Engine was gone 😭 ,it was fun though driving the legacy

Rally Australia is complete, and once again it was Ford vs Subaru at the top of the leader board. This time though, @space_wadet in the Subaru edged out @RYAN in the Ford. Devilsoldier96 completes the podium in a second Ford. BenAFC14 and BelgianWaffle78 ensured Subaru got 3 cars inside the top 5 whilst @GOTMAXPOWER secured Mitsubishi's best result for a few events.

In the constructors, Subaru leapfrog Mitsubishi, overhauling a 19 point deficit into a 4 point lead in P2. But it is Ford who walk away from Australia as constructors champions, reaching an unassailable 112 point lead with 2 rounds to go, congratulations to all the Ford drivers for contributing to this dominant victory.

The real rally Australia was a rollercoaster. On day 1, Juha Kankkunen powered into an early lead in his Toyota, he had won 4 of the previous 6 Australia rally's since its 1989 debut. McRae was P2 and 17 seconds behind, lamenting the lack of pace the Impreza had vs the Celica. Makinen and Eriksson close behind not allowing Subaru to breath in the race for the constructors.
This was made better for Mitsubishi as Possum Bourne crashed out on stage 3, whilst Sainz, championship leader and returning from injury, smashed his radiator on day 1 to put his car out as well.
Eriksson pushed hard on day 2, having found a comfortable suspension setup, and pushed into the lead, whilst Kankkunen went the other way, struggling with the balance of his Celica. McRae took advantage and traded the lead and stage times with Eriksson.
McRae admitted on day 3 he was thinking of the championship and would be happy with P2, a few mistakes early on day 3 confirmed P2 anyway as Eriksson drove flawlessly to win the rally. McRaes result put him in P2, 7 points behind Kankkunen who finished 3rd.

Drivers’ championship points

1 Kankkunen 62

2 McRae 55

3 Auriol 51

4 Sainz 50

5 Eriksson 48

6 Mäkinen 38

We move on now to the penultimate round of the 1995 World Rally Championship, and the 31st running of the Rallye Catalunya - Costa Brava. With dry conditions forecast, we should in for a fast, clean event, with some challenging stages facing the drivers. Tight armco barriers, rock faces, and ultra high speed mountain roads await.

My rallying has stalled a bit due to some home improvements seeing my rig out of service at times.

Hopefully when things are sorted here I’ll get time to jump back in here again.

Spent most my rally limping around in a somewhat wounded car. Got the car into a "good" condition for the final two stages, but I was too far down to make any inroads on the front runners by that point.

A little disappointed as I really enjoy the Spanish tarmac, but after nearly getting terminal damage on the first stage I'm pleased I made it to the end

A puncture on stage 7 that I had to change as it was my rear right tyre ruined my run. Shame as I had some good pace throughout. Looking forward to Chile next, should be really fun in these cars.

Edit: if you get a puncture in one leg the game defaults to you not having any spares of you use it in the previous leg. Don't ask me how I know this.

I'm quite busy at the moment and I have missed the Spanish round. Is the Championship decided? It would help if I could miss Chile to. I don't want to throw all my effort away however if the championship isn't mathematically over

I was trying to figure out if you'd won or not too...I think as we're on a flexible scoring system it really depends on how many people enter. The first round in Monte awarded 46 points to first place.

I think it'll mostly be a battle for 2nd place at this point though

EDIT: Just looked and it's awarded first place the following points...so basically it's not over. In fact anyone from the top 4 could still win.
  1. Monte - 46 points
  2. Sweden - 46 points
  3. Portugal - 50 points
  4. Corsica - 35 points
  5. NZ - 47 points
  6. Indonesia - 48 points
  7. Spain - 30 points

Looks like it was an Impreza sweep of the podium in Spain

My run could've been better if I went with a better tyre choice, used the softer compound too much and should've went with an extra set of hards

I was thinking how nice a rally Chile is, it's very slow but still has a nice rhythm that flows together nicely. As I was distracted with that thought I ploughed head on into one of those temporary chicanes at 90mph doing enough damage to retire from the rally on the spot.

Thanks for the season @MagpieRacer it's been the best part of owning this game 🫡

Sorry for the delay on the results, they'll be up tonight, had a golf club fitting today which was, of course, very important.

Thank you, I'm glad you've enjoyed it 👍.

Cheers, Ok then I'll probably take part then even if I don't have enough time for practice. I'll just try and finish in a somewhat safe manner and hopefully that will be enough.

Ahh, praise the Lord the next rally has started. Been grim waiting for this too come round after nearly killing myself and Co driver in spain😅

The penultimate round is complete, and the title battle goes all the way to Wales. Catalunya proved a tough adversary for the drivers this week, with less than 50% of the starters reaching the finish.
Of those who finished, @space_wadet was the quickest, taking his 2nd win in a row in the Subaru. @galahad took P2 with another strong performance in his Subaru, and BelgianWaffle78 took P3, making it a clean sweep for Subaru on the podium.

In the manufacturers standing, Ford of course are already champions, but Subaru, with a commanding points haul in Spain, leap past Mitsubishi and clear by 25 points, Toyota pick up 12 points and have an outside chance at catching Mitsubishi.

The real 1995 Rally Catalunya was dramatic and controversial. Subaru celebrated their first ever 1-2-3 finish, but it was marred by team orders which infuriated Colin McRae, at the end of the penultimate day, Subaru boss Dave Richards told his star drivers to hold station, with Carlos Sainz 7 seconds clear at the front. Toyota had started strong, with Kankkunen catapulting into a commanding lead of 22 seconds, which rose to around a minute on day 2, but, SS16 saw him go off the road and roll out of the rally. Mitsubishi also struggled with Tommi Makinen hitting an ambulance and retiring, with Andrea Aghini finishing 5th to keep Mitsubishi at the top of the standings.
Colin McRae upped the pace on the final day, seemingly ignoring team orders to hold station, at the final service, Jimmy McRae told Colin he has to do what he's told, Dave is the boss. Dave Richards alleged to have told Colin that if he won the Spain event, he wouldn't have a car in GB. He duly took a deliberate penalty and came home a disgruntled second place, with Sainz taking the max haul, also unhappy at how he had been given the victory.
Post rally, the controversy kept coming, with Toyota management summoned by the stewards to explain a finding from the cars post rally checks, Didier Auriols car was then disqualified from 4th place, the turbo restrictor found to be non conforming.

Drivers’ championship points

1 Sainz
= McRae 70
3 Kankkunen 62
4 Auriol 51
5 Kenneth Eriksson 48
6 Delecour 46

In the wake of the Spanish event, the findings against Toyota mounted regarding the turbo restrictor and the team was disqualfied from the championship, stripped of all points, along with the drivers, and banned for 1 year, therefore missing the final round and almost all of 1996.

Ah maybe I shouldn't have started my run then 😅

It's here, after 70 days of competition, we are into the final event, the 51st Network Q RAC Rally.
The winter cold and classic mud from the greatest rally in the world. Drivers will be battling the elements, rough roads, forests and themselves in one of the toughest events ever to grace the WRC.

I decided at the start of this series that anyone who chose Toyota wouldn't be excluded 😀 . I think had the Toyota Celica been in the game, I may have played that differently but, as it was, it isn't so it's fair game to the end.
