I crashed out on the first stage. There's nothing worse than rocks on one side of the road and cliffs on the other.

Was doing so well, looking after the car before the long final six stages, then crashed on the final km of stage 4. Lost a tyre, probably my exhaust amongst other damage.managed a decent fix at the cost of 1min 40 service penalty. Onwards we go for now

Well, I just experienced Deja-Vu, and not in a good way. After an uncomfortable first stage navigating the gorge and a spin on stage 2 I decided to take it a bit easier and just make sure of completing the event, resulting in stage 3:

This actually infuriates the hell out of me. Sure, it was a screw up on my end for not taking more of an angle over the preceding crest/jump, but this shouldn't be an instant DNF.

Corsica unrecoverable.jpg

The road is right there. Sure, it's a bit of an incline at the point closest to the bridge but it's not even close to being a dead-drop like the gorge from stage 1... if it actually let me land/roll down the hill I'm fairly sure I'd be able to drive it back up.

It was bad enough that I got a puncture and massive damage to the internals, that plus a reset penalty would be more than sufficient. Getting slammed with terminal damage i.e "Unrecoverable" is a massive slap in the face, especially as you're booted out of the rest of the rally.

I really do look forward to running these but that's the second time out of 4 this has happened and it's genuinely killing my motivation.

I was doing a moment in the Audi Quattro on Corsica and I had a similar one of these where I locked my brakes and slid over a bank and slightly down stopping in what would easily be a recoverable position but got DNF'd. Its overly harsh on these. Why is it even a thing? I understand maybe doing a fullspeed yeeting into the gorge at corsica or off the side of the mountain on Monte but wouldn't a hefty penalty just suffice?

I think its just a brutally harsh game when on hardcore damage, I like it being so punishing to be fair. Keeps you on your toes and teaches you not to be a lemming. Saying that, I too have failed In my attempt to make it to the end on all but the Sweden rally. Frustrating yes, but a good learning curve.

That's it though, Some of the DNF's due to Unrecoverable Positions aren't fair and don't make sense. @Dreadmed 's Galant above for example

A permacrash option like WRC Generations had would be good. That way we can choose whether it happened or not.

Crashed out right at the end of SS6 😢. Was doing well until then, looking after the car and tyres, enjoying the stages. Then slid off the road in the village right near the end of that stage and that was that.

Well my Rally at Corsica lasted 40 seconds before falling off a cliff. I just hope I have a good run at New Zealand
I think New Zealand is possibly the most forgiving rally in the game (famous last words I know). hoping to have a lot more finishers for that one. Corsica is pretty brutal, even when driving carefully.

It's also one that I just really enjoy driving. I'm looking forward to the rest of the calendar anyway

I'm still going technically. I started well completing the first 4 stages in decent times I was happy with, But The last few days I've been unable to play due to pains in my chest and upper back. I can't sit comfortably at my desk for longer than a couple of minutes, Let alone the hour I'd need to finish my run.

I'm not really sure how I managed to get to the end of this one, I tried to keep the pace steady but had a few heart in mouth moments along the way. At the very beginning of SS3, I got stuck on a series of rocks and was reluctant to reset, makes for some amusing viewing in Racenet anyway. Lost a good chunk of time there though.

Later in the rally, not sure which stage, I somehow survived a close encounter with the 'drop of death' as I exchanged a glancing blow with a cliff-face...and was subsequently held on the road by a small rock. Had a definite Roman Cresta 2002 vibe to it. Needless to say I took it much, much, steadier from then on 😂

Glad I made it to then end though, felt like (on the whole) a more promising performance compared to Portugal. Hopefully a good opportunity to pick up some points too.

Hope that you feel better soon @RYAN, I was trailing you by about a minute heading into SS5 so hope you can make it to the end 👍

I managed to finish. One trip onto the roof and the usual deafening whistle from the damaged turbo being the only main hindrances.
Commanding lead as well.

5 finishers currently, all of them are Fords. 23 started stage 1.

Nightmare...just finished stage 6 at oceania and clicked suggested repairs by accident. Fixed my steering, lights and suspension, while my exhaust and radiator are in the red, and my engine and turbo are orange.
"Great job team of engineers, thanks👍", fortunately they 2 short stages before a long service.

My main objective for the current event is to complete every stage, by any means necessary. I've completed 5 so far in the Galant but things aren't looking good for stage 6, and I honestly think the engine is just going to pack up and die on me. I'm walking wounded. Why does this championship have to be soo hard? Crap weather conditions, no restarts and elevated roads with little to no fencing. Still, I'm doing much better compared to the previous event where I only lasted a minute. I can usually last a lot longer than that.

Write up will be up later today 😊.

There’s limited option for club creators with regards to difficulty, I’d like an option to disable unrecoverable terminal situations personally, and I think for my next championship in this club I will disable hardcore damage as it can be overly sensitive sometimes.

Restarts should be an option, but I wouldn’t enable it even if they were, part of the challenge and jeopardy is only getting one run. There is possibility and opportunity to practice the stages outside the club. And weather wise I try and match it to the real event, which has meant a fair bit of bad weather on some of these rallies, spoiler, it doesn’t get better 😉.

Nooo, please leave hardcore damage. Or do a vote atleast. I for one am one of those that doesn't finish a rally many times(finished twice). But being a sucker for punishment I enjoy the challenge.

I could put it to a vote, trouble is a majority of the near 100 members in the club don’t use GTP or Discord. Whilst I too am a sucker for punishment, 5 finishers at Corsica isn’t ideal 😅.

Speaking of punishment, I think there's a Service missing before S5 in Oceania... No service between S3 and S7, and S6 is 18km.

I didn't check beforehand so I started this leg on worn SS tires...

And then 7 is a medium service period. My Ford was knackered is S7 and 8; smoke billowing from under the bonnet, misfiring and barely able to get over 120kph.

That said, this one was brilliant, despite the engine trouble.

The Tour de Corse is over and the French rally has been beyond challenging. From 24 starters, just 5 finished, the ravines and rocks proving lethal to all but the the 5 Fords that made the finish.

Naturally, for all but Ford it was a rally to forget, that left @RYAN and @Speedster502 free to fight out for the win, and steal a march in the championship. In the end it was @RYAN who took the top honours, with a comfortable victory. Still a handy points haul for @Speedster502 who loses the championship lead but stays within 5 points.

In the manufacturers, naturally it is all in the favour of Ford, with the top 3 cars all scoring valuable points. Extending their lead to a massive 67 points at the halfway point.

In the real 1995 Tour de Corse, it was Bruno Thiry's Ford that would suffer heartbreak, having led for 20 stages, a wheel bearing failed. Despite the service team being in attendance with all the parts needed to repair (a single nut), they couldn't touch the car under the new rules in the refuel station.
This left Didier Auriol to take victory, uncontested after Francois Delecour hit a bridge and damaged the suspension on his Ford and had to settle for 2nd place. Andrea Aghini took 3rd, repeating his 1994 result on this event, but this time at the wheel of the all new Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 3 that debuted this weekend.
Championship leader Carlos Sainz took P4 to hold on to the top spot in the championship, and leading the trio of Subaru's home with McRae P5 and Liatti P6 after they switched positions. Corsican native Bernardini came home 7th and Tommi Makinen, on his Corsica debut, took P8.

Welcome to round 5 of the 1995 World Rally Championship and the 25th Smokefree New Zealand Rally.
In the absence of the 1000 lakes rally in Finland, this will be the fastest rally we come to this season, so expect thrills, and some spills, in the Oceanic countryside. Farmland, valleys and twisty sections riddled with bridges, New Zealand has it all.
The weather forecast shows a wet start to the rally, but should dry out by day 3.

Turns out I did make it to the service area after stage 6, and I was able to make it through stage 7 and 8 without too much trouble. Unfortunately I punctured both rear tyres in stage 9, and because I didn't have any spares, I had to crawl thought the rest of the event. I need to be more careful and perhaps use a different car because the Galant doesn't handle that well in tight situations. At least I made it to the finish and that's all I care about.

Praying for a better round this time. I can't for the life of me do tarmac on this game :ouch:

I prefer the heavy damage too. Anyone can make a mistake and it makes a more level playing field. Those who are fastest can always slip up. Those who are slower can still rally through with optimism no matter where they are on the field because if they're cautious, it could be a tortoise and hare. I know that if people could restart and there's no terminal damage etc then if I was 30 positions down I'd be thinking "what's the point". This way, there's always a reason to keep going because anything can happen!

I agree on retaining the hardcore damage, it's certainly played against me a few times during this championship but the risk versus reward is what makes it so appealing. I like the fact that I have to balance when to push and when to back off, it's more realistic to real rallying.

Agreed on terminal situations though, I feel like if you have a terminal there should be some option to jump to the next service with a penalty applied or something similar to real super rally rules. Would make for some entertaining fight backs.

NZ isn't going great for me, I'm rushing to get it in before a long work trip, so not sure my head is quite in the right place for it! I'll be happy to get a handful of points here. I'm not hugely confident with how the Escort feels on gravel, tarmac it's clearly the car to have but feels very understeer prone on gravel.
