Competitions seem "broken" - only single races...

Hi!

sorry for asking a question here, but I literally spent hours on google and other searches and I seem to be unable to find an answer. Problem is that I cannot enter championships properly anymore. That is I can enter a single race, but it just gets counted as single and even if I select all races individually and finish them, the competition isn't won. (i.e. no car reward etc.)

This happens with two memory cards, I have no idea what I did wrong.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Tom

Hiya Tom:
"If" I understand your question properly, it sounds like you need to enter the "Championship", NOT run the races separately. Try clicking on the Shield [I think it's blue & white] to the left of the first circuit listed. If you score enough points you'll be rewarded w/Bonus credits & a prize car....O.G.

You have to enter the race as an whole championship, by clicking on the big GT logo on the far left. Finishing them individually as single races won't get you a prize.

Thanks guys, will try that asap, right now the tv is blocked by some flatmates. I guessed it was something as simple as that but I just couldnt figure it out...

Which events are you entering? There's a limited number of events in GT4 that're considered "Championship Events" rather than "Single Race" events.

There are none in Beginner Hall.

In Professional Hall there's:
Tuning Car Grand Prix (5 Races)
World Classic Car Series (5 Races)
World Compact Car Race (5 Races)
Gran Turismo World Championship (10 Races)

In Extreme Hall there's:
Gran Turismo All Stars (10 Races)
Dream Car Championship (10 Races)
Polyphony Digital Cup (10 Races)
Formula GT World Championship (15 Races)

In Japanese Hall there's:
Japan Championship (5 Races)
All Japan GT Championship (10 Races)
Japanese Compact Cup (5 Races)

In American Hall there's:
All American Championship (5 Races)

In European Hall there's:
Pan Euro Championship (5 Races)
British GT Series (5 Races)
Deutsche Touring Car Meisterschaft (5 Races)
Tous France Championnat (5 Races)
Europe Classic Car League (5 Races)
Euro Hot Hatch League (5 Races)
1000 Miles! (4 Races)

In Manufacturers Events there's:
UK, Lotus Elise Trophy (5 Races)
UK, Lotus Lotus Classics (5 Races)

France, Alpine Renault Alpine Cup (5 Races)
France, Citröen 2HP-2CV Classics (5 Races)
France, Renault Clio Trophy (5 Races)
France, Renault Megane Cup (5 Races)

Germany, Audi Tourist Trophy (3 Races)
Germany, BMW Club 'M' (5 Races)
Germany, Volkswagen Beetle Cup (5 Races)
Germany, Volkswagen Lupo Cup (5 Races)

Japan, Mazda NR-A Roadster Cup (5 Races)
Japan, Mazda NR-A RX-8 Cup (5 Races)
Japan, Mitsubishi Mirage Cup (5 Races)
Japan, Subaru Stars of Pleiades (5 Races)

In each of these championship events you can click on the races individually or in the "championship" event (which is the first circle you come to with a "GT" logo in a shield flanked by chequered flags). If you've entered a championship rather than a single race, then you will see it will say "_____________ Championship: Race 1" etc. and you'll also get the icons at the bottom of the screen for "Practice" and "Abandon All Championship Events". If you're not getting these, you're not entering the championship properly, and thus won't get the Championship prize money & prizecar.

Also you can tell if you've entered a championship if you use the green icon to "exit race". If you're in a championship it'll ask if you want to return to the home screen (where you'll see flashing orange text in the top-right corner of the screen telling you which Championship you're competing in, and it gives you to opportunity to go into "Home" and save your progress, but it won't let you enter other events without giving you a warning.) If you've only entered a Single Race, you'll just exit, without warning back to the race list for the event you've entered.

(Edit: Tree'd by shorter and simpler answers while I was composing this essay!!! :ouch:)

Okay, now I'm confused because I hoped I'd just missed something, but I can't manage to get to a point where I see a championship icon. All I see are single races. And even where I know (because I already played it before on another system) that there has to be a championship.

And in Beginners Hall, the Sunday Cup is supposed to give you a car, isn't it?

I don't know what could be wrong here; it can't be the memory card since the problem is persisting on a new game started on a new memory card.

Thanks for your help so far though!!

Tom

See the list above.
This is not a problem with the game or your memory cards, but a "Biological interface error". ;)
They're the only "Championship" events in the game.
As it mentions, there are no Championship events in Beginner Hall, only single race events.
If you've completed all 5 single race events and won a prizecar, you can only win another prizecar if you enter and win all 5 events again and you answer the question that it asks you about clearing the records for the event in order to win another prizecar before you start. (Don't worry about clearing the event, it doesn't affect the game completion percentage, that gets counted the first time you complete the event and you won't get any additional percentage for completing the same event again.)

As we're not able to see what you're doing exactly, can you give us some detailed information on what event you're trying to enter and what car you're trying to use? That'll help us help you. If you could post some screenshots, that'd be even more helpful.

I'd also suggest taking a look at this post. Ignore most of it, but download the GT4 Guide.pdf file at the bottom as it lists every event in GT4 and states if they're "Single Race" or "Championship" type events. 👍

WOW, I feel rather stupid right now. You guys were right, I just didn't get it.

Thanks so much for taking the time and keeping this friendly about it despite my utter cluelessness - you guys rock!

Best - Tom

Glad to hear it, that's what we're here for!
Have fun re-winning your prizecars, welcome to :gtplanet:, have fun settling in here too, and maybe if you're looking for things to do to keep you occupied join in with one of the racing events such as JGTC or Weekly Time Trial Challenge that're going on.
