Hm.. I guess it would be best for me to ignorethat unintelligent comment and ignore the temptation to go off topic. Maybe its worth reporting?.

Guys, quit biting at each others' throats. For corn's sake…

[edit]: Jeebus, Kent, must you always be so darn quick? ;)

So...if they are REALLY "that concerned" with what is going on in their country, rather than ours, do you think they would have put a delay on it to give us the extra features.

I'm not sure if im the only one who notices this but I think almost if not every japaneese game comes to america later than it is released in japan, and why am I an idiot for thinking that 50 skylines is too much? I'm sorry that i think that about 10-15% of the cars in a given video game are all the same car. I mean christ if disk space was an issue dump 5-10 skylines and put in 5-10 OTHER cars. I dont care if they would be Japanese, euro, or USA. As long as they werent another 10 versions of the exact same model. Put in another supra or 3000gt, just something other than a friggin skyline. I think its safe to say that even if I loved skylines, I would rather have 10 less in favor of other DIFFERENT cars.

So it's unacceptable for a company not to travel thousands of miles, and spend a month studying and taking pictures/recording other cars, when they can turn out twice as many cars, with half the cost, in their homeland?

Face it, While they are all the same Line of car, they ARE different skylines. I guaruntee you if you were to look at the properties for each different model, they are not identicle.

I mean jeebus, they have made sacrifices for this game, that would have otherwise resulted in PROFITS. Yet people are still upset about delays etc?

I for one am pleased that the game isn't merely being pushed out in order to make a quick buck on the name, that the time was taken to turn out a quality product...but maybe that's just me as a pleased and educated consumer.

But are the specs different then the one in the states or in europe?
Upon further research, it was the Zetec engine that was produced in Brazil starting in 2000, not the Focus (although, as you know, the Zetec is still found in North American Focuses) ...

The Focus is made in one of several factories across the world (USA, Mexico, Argentina, South Africa, Spain, Germany, and Russia) ...

I'll agree with some of that, mainly about the sacrifices and such (although they are going to make a killing anyway), but i doubt the skylines are so varied that from model to model that it merits for each to be in the game. I'm sure some of them maybe most of them are different from eachother, but i still won't accept that it is needed for their to be 50 of them. Partially because im not a big fan of them in the games, but mainly becuase 50 is an absurd amount of the same car.

Its not like... the corvette where the models included in GT4 are drastically different in spec and appearance.(i hate to beat the dead horse with a stick but its a good example.)

I guess me continuing to complain is kind of fruitless and we should just agree to disagree on this one. I guess if it helps the series make money which hopefully (still doubtful) will allow them to put more time+money into future games I'm okay with it, but you have to agree that it would be better to have a few less of the same car to include different cars currently not in the game.

i'd have to say 50 skyline is a bit too much....
heck, i'm a huge mercedes fan and i still think putting all of SL500,55,600, and 65 is a bit excessive....

i guess they just do it to pump up the numbers... w/ a new tag some tweak in numbers, you get a new car... why wouldn't they do it?

Man, wouldn't it be fascinating to find out if Kaz has owned any Benzes (or Bimmers, which are also pretty well represented)?

rant, rant, rant, words, words, words...

the Vette's over priced for THE TECHNOLOGY IT HAS

rant, rant, rant, words, words, words...

And if you were paying attention instead of defending a giant corporation

Glad to be your buddy!

These things jumped right out at me. I don't even like Vettes that much; I'm just pointing out how ignorant you sound ranting about "inferior technology" on the Vette. People are on here comparing the Z06 to a Ferrari. Sure, it's no Ferrari, but pointing out a few features on a $30K Evo doesn't make the Vette inferior. Someone could just as easily rant about the Evo not having a titanium exhaust and valves. Does that make it inferior?

Also, I'm really impressed that you think pointing out the strong points of a Vette makes someone the "defender of a giant corporation." I hope you don't have any Microsoft products, or I'll expect you to consequently admit your desire to fellate Bill Gates. Besides, YOU'RE the one talking about a Mitsubishi Evo. MITSUBISHI! Do you know what a zaibatsu is? Mitsubishi is so much of a monopoly that they were dismantled during the US occupation of Japan, and they still have several individual companies that would be considered monopolies. They own Japan's largest bank, Nippon Oil, Nikon, Mitsubishi Chemical, paper mills, and massive pharmaceutical, steel, glass, electronics, insurance, real estate and nuclear power companies.

I have to say this...I just can't resist...

Everyone who has ever complained about there being 50 skylines = Stupid.

...

Point blank, different country's have different needs and different grounds in which to produce their cars.

You're missing the point. Nobody is saying simply that there are too many Skylines and the game should have fewer cars. Having 50 Skylines is a real letdown for all but the hardest of hardcore Skyline fanboys. Everybody hears that the game has 700 cars and they're excited, and then they realize the truth that there is much less variety than the number implies.

As for the 2nd statement... huh?

I agree. When they say there are going to be over 400+ cars, i'm excited. Then i look at the list of cars, and my heart drops.

400- 25skylines - 20 rx7s- 25 civics - 10 NSX's - so on and so on, until really, there are actually only about 200 chasis in the game.................................BOOOOO!!!!!

I don't like Vettes, true, but I was using the springing example so show that the Vette's over priced for THE TECHNOLOGY IT HAS, not in relation to its competitors!

Here's a game for you. It's called "Find the Leaf Springs".

*glances at watch*

Come on folks, time's almost up!

For the record, the Los Angeles Times, in its review of the standard C6, called it "an embarrassment to European GTs costing three times as much".

No, it's not a let down. For "the hardest of hardcore" or anyone else.

50 Skylines, they are all different, and while you may not notice it, I promise others can. So you're telling me that, the 500 other cars (assuming there's roughly around 100 skylines, lancers, and NSX's together) is still not enough variety for you? Come on now, who are you REALLY kidding?

My point is, and I'm not missing it, is that no matter what is in the game, if ONE car that YOU or ANYONE else wants, is NOT in it, then you will automatically resort to complain about another car that has more models, period. It has nothing to do with how many of THOSE cars are in, it's because somehow you feel that THOSE cars are what PREVENTED you from seeing what you wanted to see in the game. Period.

As for my second statement, it refers to people comparing Japense and AMerican cars. It's stupid. The japanese market is extremely different, and they have no need for highpowered cars like we have Vets, Camaros, Mustangs, etc. Sure they build cars with that potential, but rarely do they come out of the factory like that. In japan you don't go down huge straightaways at highspeeds a lot, people are more concerned with fuel efficiency, hence their car production usually yeilds low power efficient cars.

They dont have the real IS300, The IS300 wagon is the only real one. The real IS300 has a 3 litre I6. There is about a 7 horse power and 75 lb-ft of torque differnece between the Altezza and the IS300.

the lexus lineup was intended for the euro release hence the IS200

All those Skylines, but only room for two Mustangs?

All those JGTC cars, but not even one Trans-Am race car?

All those NSX race variants, but only one racing Corvette, and that's a GT3 holdover?

We could go on and on, couldn't we? The cars that are left off this list is as amazing as the sheer, overwhelming number that is on it.

Yeah, yeah, all us fanboys should be oh, so grateful that the PD guys have been so gracious as to give us all these cars. Yeah, yeah: Japanese cars are great. Yadda, yadda, yadda.

Fact is. This is a self-indulgent list. The developers put in the cars they grew up with, see every day, own, drive, and know very well. They packed the list with the cars they love. They're self-indulgent to the point of it being bad for their business. More U.S. cars would help sales in this market, but even that is not motivation enough for them to throw a few more in.

Oh, well, I guess we North Americans should be grateful for whatever crumbs they throw us, and keep our fanboy mouths shut, shouldn't we?

exactly lol
I'm even amazed to see there are European (crappy cars) like the Citroens and such... must be because of their presence in rallying maybe...

don't forget this is a Japanese game and 1st of all they make games for themselves not the rest of the world....as an European I am already happy enough witht he few american cars they listed because most of them I have never seen in real :( so I'm happy to finallly be able to drive Mustangs and such :)

If you don't know the Japanese show Best Motoring International maybe you should try watch some of them because Gran Turismo is definitely a video game version of it actually most of the tuner cars and real tracks in GT series are constantly featured in this show Tsukuba,Fuji and the Spoon FIT,MIne's skyline,etc...

I talk about best motoring because it's one of the reasons GT exists...
at least one show each month in Japan not talking about all the others about tuning and drifting most of the Japanese car owners who live close to a track go on it, their suspension set-up is stiffer than the exported models because more Japanese than other customers use their cars on tracks all of this make them love THEIR cars and know them better than anyone and just my guess better than most US or Europeans know their own cars actually...

I would suggest not to complain because they could well reduce the car numbers in GT5 I think they alrady did int between the 1 and 2 ..or am I mistaken ?

edit:
oh and BTW I'm REALLY happy they didn't trash the Ford Focus RS which I own, it was in GT conept tokyo-geneva because the car was a limited production, is not sold anymore and well isn't quite up to other cars performance in GT4.

I think the fact it was imported in Japan and someone having a Ford GT ;) must have helped lol

Good point man... it was late and i was cranky... Just FYI... I don't use MS products. I prefer virus-free computing. (no i do noy fellate Linus nor Jobs, either. swine) I was never comparing the Vette to a ferrari. And I know 'bout Mitsu... it all sounded so cogent when i wrote it. I was referring to Porsche then, but my writing was clearly not on point, and it came off as a pro mitsu jam.

I think the Vette and the Evo are a little too plasticky. That's all. Last words from me. Make mine a Volvo or a BMW or a Porsche. Sorry for being a codescending prick or whatever, lets bring this back to what's in the NA release, not whats out?

Only one spring runs under both lower control arms and across the transaxle. You can't see it in the picture but it's there.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but can anyone confirm that all the speculation of the US version having the same updates as the PAL version is true? I'd search, but I've gotta do my homework.

Yes! First post!

Why no Lamborghinis? There were about 10 on a list I saw a while back? Why can't they release the same cars in the US that they can in Japan?

That list was fake I believe. To answer your next question PD doesn't like the US. :nervous:

Doesn't look much different than this:

But somehow the suspension pictured immediately above is state-of-the-art, and the Corvette's is "ancient"... ;)
