Complex

This game is so complex it's not even funny. Seems like that's all I do is mess with the settings. Is there a happy medium here? I dont like a lot of assists. But hey looks like I'm gonna have to throw caution to the wind.

Not 100% sure what you're finding complex, or if you are asking a specific question, or more of a statement... And yes, I see your question up there.

Is there a happy medium here?

If you are talking about the choices in Assists the game has for each car, just put it on Realistic, or Actual... whatever it's called and forget it. That way if you're running a car with TC, SC... then you have it, and the option of turning one, or both, off.
That's how I typically run PCars 2. I don't generally like TC with the GT3/GTE cars, but if it starts to rain I would like to pop it back on if I'm struggling.

If you're not talking about that, then I'm not real sure what you are wondering about.
Are you on a wheel or a controller??

Well I'm just new. The more I play the better it gets so. What I really meant in my original thread is I'm just gonna bite the bullet and play and not worry too much on the settings. Thanks for your input. :-)

Gotcha. I wasn't trying to be snarky or anything. It's just that if you are using a wheel (or heck, even a controller) there ARE a lot of settings that are very subjective - and depending on "how" you drive can make a world of difference. 👍 I thought that was maybe what you were wondering. . .

As far as Assists and things like that, specific to the car - I say use it if it has it. And you can always turn it off. I usually try and lay down some laps with it both ways. Traction control on, then off. Have fun with it though, it is a game and not perfect, but man, running a Day-Night-Day cycle at Daytona or LeMans - MM, Mm, MMMmm, there's nothin' funner.

I hear ya. If it was perfect and easy. I wouldn't want to play it. I like the challenge, but sometimes I forget that it's just a game. I love the realness of it. But at the same time I get frustrated lol. It's getting better all the time.:gtpflag::gtpflag:

Are you on PS4?? If so, you oughta join a league to run in. All different levels in them, and you'll get better and have a laugh or two at the same time. We try and race clean but there are bumps here and there... nothing intentional.

Check out the Project Cars 2 Online leagues section. Holler if you have a question - this game will come alive when you race with other "people". Promise you. :D

I'd love to. Only one problem. I'm on a satelite connection. So I dont wanna ruin it for others. I'm told that they are gonna run a wire to my house this year. I live in the country. Before I moved here. I was in a few racing leagues in the old pc nascar game. I loved it. I'm not a superstar but I can hold my own.

Anyway I kinda went on hiatus from sim racing online. But I would love to start up again. Unfortunately i can't at the moment.:banghead:

Keep at it is what I would also say. I have typically just messed around with the game the entire time I have had it. Fiddle with settings from time to time. Play for a little for a few weeks and then might not play for awhile. Then mess with settings some more, rince n repeat.

Now though think at a point where can start to enjoy the game the way it was intended.

FOV however is priority for me that settings need to be good for most cars. Do not remember the default out of the box settings, but world moment and sense of speed moment, helmet lean etc might need adjusted or turned off for your own personal enjoyment.

Also to anyone that thinks thet have to have a high dollar wheel to enjoy the game - that's a big NO on that one. T-150 is what I use and for me it is just fine, plenty of force feedback.

Also giving AC (orginal) another chance.

Basically PC2 has enough setting options that you can enjoy the game how you please. Hope they never change that, but would be nice to have some quick settings or much better instructions for what everything does.

Also for me, I just typically stick to a few tracks and several cars that know can drive decently.
Will try and keep progressing and branch out with different tracks and cars.

FYI - Ferrari pack, Porch pack, Lemans pack are must haves.

Starting to have some good races now.
Just completed 15 quick race at Bruno, which by the way is current favorite track. Using class C cars started from P26 and ended up at P2. Pretty sure that had tire wear on at highest level. Tires seem to last long time, imagine could of gone 20 or 25 laps.

I think some of the biggest challenges are learning the physics of the cars, how they behave under braking, throttle control etc in turns. Staying close to the car in front of you without running into them when braking. Staying on the course is obvisouly very important, never going to win if drive off the track.

Much better than GTS, where you really have to focus, maintain your pace and try to improve lap time. The laps and real time just melt away as you strive to run a clean race, but at same time need to push to pass the next car. Its rewarding knowing that it may take half lap, full lap or several laps just to pass a car or a few cars. Watching, waiting and looking for the opportunity to pass without being overally aggressive and running of the track or crashing. aka...pretty much like a real race.

Well I ordered me a G29 coming Tuesday. So I'm gonna wait till I get my wheel and tear it up. Cant wait. Just hope it isn't another let down. I ordered a t80 earlier but sent it back. Everybody I've asked says the g29 is a good wheel for the price, so hey. Almost 300 bucks. That's pretty high for a normal player. We'll see. :gtpflag:Comments welcome....

It sure is, I've got one. I've used Logitech wheels for ages, never let me down. The G29 with its force feed back is a few steps ahead of the 80. Any wheel, especially with FFB, will take some time to get used to though if you've been using a controller. So take a little time to adjust and you'll probably not want to go back. :)

There's already a few threads with peoples settings but ask away again if you have problems someone will help.

Oh us sim racers aren't normal. :P

G29/G920 is only £200 with the shifter here in the UK (even cheaper during sales)

$300 seems high.

Could've got a TX/T3O0 & T3PA's for that price.

I pay under £300 for my T300 & wheel stand , I needed the wheel stand because I drive from a sofa not a good option because you can never get the same position each time ..lol
FOV is important but from a sofa over a 1m from the TV you cannot use the calculator.
I hope the next version let you set each car view up independently I hate having to change my settings with each car.

It would be fantastic if in next game you were able to set the FOV up in real time with the car your currently in prior to starting a race etc. Some type of preview that gives you a good idea of what the settings would look like.

You could just set up a 5 minute practice session before the race for this.

to set the FOV up in real time
You can't do it in real time - while driving - but it can be adjusted via the pause menu with the results shown on screen. Turn off the speed sensitive option first though.

If you have the buttons mapped you can adjust the seat position on the fly though. So you can get a better view out of the window, which might actually be nearer to what you require. FOV would normally stay the same between cars.
