If some drivers would PM me a quick overview of their race, their thoughts, etc. I'd appreciate it.

That was utterly gutting... I did everything right this time, had enough pace to cover the whole GTE field and had a nice gap but I was let down by the fuel tank!

Le Mans Race Report.
Qualifying.
Position : 2nd

Happy enough with second as in all my flying laps there was mistakes. If qualy had of last an other 15 secs I could have got to within .2 of Nin but still, it wasn't prefect either. I guess i was pushing too hard but a bit of it was i just wasn't lapping well. If I was driving better it could have been a bit closer.

Race
Position : 2nd

Got away just okay and was able to keep position. Going down into the first chicane , Chozza got the run on me and pulled a long side. When we got to the breaking zone I could not see him in front or in the mirror so I knew he was there beside me loitering with intent. As I broke he didn't appear in front or in rear so I knew I had to leave him survival room on the inside. He was still there in the middle of the corner so again i had to leave him survival space on the exit. This let Nin get a gap and gave Chozza and Glen a great run on me down to the second chicane . I felt like Zonta at Spa 2000, haha . So from second to 4th in a few turns. (No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy)

The plan now was just to try and stay with them on the straight. Which i was doing ok until Glen ran wide coming onto the straight and I got past him. Now with one eye on Glen I set about closing on the front two. This I could not do and could only peg them with me dropping back a second or two by the end of the first stint. I was almost 9sec back when pitting.

After the pit stops I got the gap back to down to 6sec but again my lapping was bad and fell back to almost 9 sec. Then on lap 16 I got damaged from a GTE car, forcing me to pit early. Absolutely disgusted. So I filled her up and started in my head the only song that could help me now.

The song starts 1.10 in but it's all good.

From now on because of being out of sink with the front two, it was just a blur of yellow and blue curbs, breaking boards and glances up at the map every so often to see if slower cars were coming up or not. The times when we did sink up again, i was always just behind Chozza 2 or 3 secs. I was pushing hard just to stay on the same pace as them but then on Lap 45 Chozza imploded and left just me and Nin. Me 20sec ahead after Nin's last pit stop but me with another stop to do, (splash and dash). I pitted and came out 15 sec behind with only a few laps to do. Finally my lapping felt good and I pushed hard knowing that Nin's tyers would be worse than mines at the end. I got the gap down to 8 secs and then the rain came.

I thought that it would be the same as the earlier shower or like in GT5 and slowly get wet but this was more like a thunder storm. Coming into the the first chicane I got a tank slapper and had to point her into the gravel or hit the barrier. (The fight was over and great one it was). I looked up and seen it had changed from 0% to 10% wet in the length of the first straight. I was in unknown territory now as the last time I drove in the wet was two years ago and didn't get to try it on GT6 yet.

All in all a great race and I have to be happy with the result as I didn't loss any places but getting damaged earlier in the race forced me to do an extra pit stop. Which I knew meant the win wasn't on the cards. With count back I finished only 7.5 sec behind Nin, with the extra pit stop and the time lost with damage, I can only lament what could have been.

My result reflected that fact that I had not done any practice due to being out of town. I didn't even tune. Just ran with my Monza tune with just the gears lengthened a bit. Also I have a cold (cough, cough). Cue the violins.

I have to withdraw from this race for personal reasons that will have me away from home in the morning. If anyone is willing to drive the HDR #11 Corvette for me, that would be fantastic. Maybe you can even pull off a better pace than I (I capped out at the high 1:53s for all my practice).

First off, I want to congratulate Plux. That's the hardest and longest i've had to push for a long long time. So good job there, just unfortunate for you about fuel. But I think it evened itself out, the Ford might be better on fuel but the McLaren definitely has a pace advantage here, over 1 second a lap in the hands of some. That extra pace will be roughly the cost of the pitstop, so very evenly matched over the race distance (I think about 5-10 seconds after 3 hours-1).

Coming into the race tonight, I wasn't expecting too much. The track doesn't suit the Ford very much. And thanks to GT Academy, I'd had very little running. I was quite surprised to get 2nd in quali, only .3 down on pole.

The opening lap was quite bad for me, 2 or 3 times I caught the curbs and/or grass coming into a braking zone but luckily I managed to hold onto it. I want to apologise to Niko, I braked at the wrong markerboard for the 2nd chicane, blindsided by Adrian, Sorry if it cost you any positions. I managed to dive up the inside of Adrian at Mulsanne corner, and then caught up with Filo. We had a good scrap for a lap or two, but I eventually got past up the inside on the right kink before Indy.

I then tried to chase down Plux, helped out by a mistake from him at the 1st chicane. I tried for a while to get past, but he had a few mph on me down the straights, and I couldn't manage to get through on the run down to the Porsche Curves. So I decided to stick behind and not fight, hoping that we could both build a gap on the cars behind.

When Plux pitted on lap 11, I looked at the clock, and started doing the maths. I knew from then, that he would have to make an extra pit-stop. However, at each of my stops, I would be taking on more fuel, so would lose time progressively through the stops.

It was pretty much status quo for the next hour and a half, keeping the gap as low as possible. After my final pitstop, I was about 25 seconds behind Plux, but he had to stop again. The fear was, he would then come out, about 10 seconds down, with fresh rubber and low fuel. That final stint woke me up a lot as I suddenly had to push like mad to try and maintain the gap. with 1 lap to go I think the gap was about 6-8 seconds... then the rain came. Litteraly, passed the pit entry as it ticked to 1%, so was too late to do anything about it. Was all good until the 2nd Mulsanne chicane, and then it was pretty much undriveable for me. Had the car slammed to try and gain some speed down the straights, which resulted in a very poor car in the rain.

Either way, I enjoyed the race. Was a great scrap. Should be a good race tonight aswell!

GAPS and times for race 1

Must say that was quite a race. My pace was slower in the race for some reason than I expected. I ran a long stint before qualifying and was in the 19s for a good 5 laps before slipping into the 20s yet in the race I couldn't better a 20.2 though I know I left a little bit on the table. Then I never got in the 20s in the second half of the race for some reason which meant I couldn't do anything about my rivals but with about an hour to go I worked the others will have to pit 1 more time than I do giving me a winning ticket.

Things went smoothly and it started to rain, now I was expecting it to be the same as before (surface water at 0 the whole time). However I only noticed it was increasing when I was on the run to indy so braked earlier and just about slowed it down. Porsche curves however was tricky, I got in fine but a little wide but then I put a little bit of power on and the rear just skid putting me in the wall. Got left rear damage and limped it back home.

I am absolutely gutted at that result, for 2 hours 30 everything was going oh so brilliantly, I was finally having the fight with Nin i'd been waiting all season for, with an epic 3 way scrap for the lead raging with different strategies unfolding, and then fatigue finally set in and a sequence of crashes almost by the lap started to happen. This could have been a fantastic result, but in the end its just the same result as all the other races.

Is there a difference between freerun and race?

I like Nin was able to do 19s and the rest 20s during a tyer stint in freerun but during the race struggled to get anywhere near that pace. I haven't played the game enough yet to tell but it definitely felt a little different. The frame rate was wrong or something like that? Does anyone know anything about this or am I making excuses?

Oh what a fun race! Started with that interesting quali where me plux and memto were fighting for position for most of it.. probably stupid but I thought I could get a slipstream from plux to get a good laptime. The last lap we did felt pretty good but spun out so never got to see the time.

Anyway, got 6th from that and then the fun started. On the formation lap I was listening too much to Matt and chorley and got caught out by the braking in to the first mulsanne chicane, real sorry about that Hansen. The start seemed to surprise most of us since it came so early but I kept my position and had a good fight for a couple of laps. Then everyone started to pull away. Memto and adrian had accidents and I guess FILO pitted early or something so suddenly I was in third. And this is where the fun began. Went too tight in to the first mulsanne chicane and touched the barrier. Apparently it sticks out more than you'd think because I came to a complete stop and had massive engine damage. Lost down to 6th again but wasn't too far off yet. Then next lap after repairing damage ayrtonschumi comes up to lap me, and does it in to arnage, in my attempt to give him room i run out too wide and touch the sand and get a big slide damaging both.

After that it was just about finishing, motivation was really low and kept crashing for no reason. And to add some salt to the wounds the rain came on the last lap and made me lose another 3 minutes on the guys in front.

Yeah sorry about bullying my way through in qually but I wanted the clean air as I hated my car in dirty air through the curves

No problem, I liked having you in front as you had higher speed on the straight, that just helped me. :) Couldn't use it to any good though as I spun out instead. :P
