Could my DFGT be dying?

They're for idiots.
Playing GT5P this afternoon after work, I was struggling-the wheel seemed to 'lag' in it's inputs. I then tried it on rFactor, and it had the exact same issue-maybe a 200 millisecond gap between movement of the wheel and ingame registration of the movement.

What defeated me, was that the buttons all worked as normal-instant registration.

So...

Time to upgrade?

PS. Have reinstalled drivers etc. but no good. Can't be a computer problem, as it afflicts the PS3 too.

The pedals too or only turning the wheel? If you turn the wheel a lot quickly is it still a problem or is only if you turn it a little bit?

Is it still under warranty?

Only the wheel turning.

It's any motion-the game will register motion about .2 seconds after I've moved the wheel.

No, no more warranty unfortunately-that went out the window three weeks ago.

If you can then you should at least try and call them to see what they can do.

If they want a ridiculous amount or don't want to fix it then I think it may not be easily fixable but could be worth trying.

Anyways, my initial thought was that there might be something wrong with the ADC (analog-digital converter). The thing that throws me off though is that your pedals are fine, which leads me to think that the ADC (analog-digital converter) is not what's causing the problems. It would be hell to replace though.

You could try taking it apart to see if maybe there's some play in the gears, another mechanical fault or just something is loose or not gripping properly. If not and it is something electrical then I guess you could try to track it down further with a multimeter.

BTW if there's anyone reading this thread that has had a similar issue please post details whether you fixed it or not (even if it was on a different wheel). Even if you threw the wheel out you might still be able to help.

Ugh, it's getting even laggier. Tried calling Logitech, but they wanted 120, which is more than I paid for the wheel (100 brand new).

Seriously considering upgrading now.

I had the same issue; pedal and buttons worked fine but wheel turning was delayed. Bought my used DFP on ebay about 3 years ago. There was about 0.5 sec delay. I contacted Logitech; they told me nothing was wrong with the wheel. Since there was no warranty I got stuck with the wheel and basically I had to turn earlier when playing.
Weird thing, when I got the GT3RS I had to relearn when to turn, as the fanatec worked perfect and I was used to the DFP.

Alright, it's getting worse. All inputs are now delayed, but it's also now intermittent-on rFactor tonight, it was working fine at the Valencia, Hungary and Malaysian circuits, but at Spa, it was laggy between Eau Rouge and the corner after Rivage. At Melbourne, it's laggy turn 3 to turn 5.

When I get the chance, I'll probably end up buying that G27. If anyone in Australia or close by has one to sell, do let me know.

Yeah I'm fairly certain it's going to be a pain to fix. Weird that the issue isn't consistent.

If anything you might be able to tinker with it when you get your G27 or you could just sell it to someone who needs parts I guess.
