As far as I have been able to tell, the 2 blinks/4 blinks/6 blinks... code rumor is true.  To figure out what each number of blinks stands for, pick up this month's issue of Tips and Tricks magazine.  The prize cars listed in the guide seem to be in the proper order, making it a guide to selecting the proper car.
