I enjoyed that, while it lasted :( I retired on lap 8 after I taking an early pit stop. I made a great start but got caught out a few laps later by a car slow on the apex. I spun out, and then made another mistake or two so I decided to fuel up and go for fresh rubber. However.. When I rejoined the track my car felt like a totally different machine. I don't know what happened in the stop but I couldn't drive it when I came back out. It may have been user error as I haven't raced all that much and the pit stops confuse the hell out of me, i just hope it's not another bug. :( I spectated the rest of the race where there was another horrible bug in the sound department. All the cars sounded like what I expect an atari or an amiga car noise would sound like. I had flashbacks!

Managed to run a 1.51.138 while I was on track though, I was getting quicker lap by lap was a shame to have to retire. Oh well, better luck next time as they say.

You could play and nod every so often as she speaks, I do it all the time when watching F1 if the wife starts. :)

Women are generally happier once they have spoken 3000 words in a day. Men are happy to not get moaned at by pretending to listen.

Check tyre pressures. A lot of us had the same thing on Monday. Tyres on my car were at 1.4. When pitting the default pressures were at 2.0. Once you've learned how to use the pitstop setup it get's easier. Setting up a few possible strategies before the race does save time faffing around too much in the race.

Ah ok.. I tried not to jump to the bug conclusion straight away put past records haven't been good! Sounds like I need to rule everything else out first and learn a bit more about the pit system. Whatever it was it completely changed how the car felt, even drove! Before I pit I was steering normally nice and smooth, after pit I was having to turn the wheels over past understeer point just to get round the corner. Was weird! I'll investigate more tomorrow.

Glad to be back anyway I had fun tonight. Not just racing but I like to do video and picture work too. I made this short vid from a capture on the playstation, theres a lot more that can be done with the replays now I like it. Will make for some great edits of CRAP moments I bet. You can manipulate the camera a lot better for pictures as well. Anyway here's what I got from last nights race, hope you like :)

Sorry I left during practice last night. I tried without ABS but I was 8 seconds off. It's just not fun in a DS4 :indiff:

What settings do you have for your controller? I normally use the wheel but for short bursts use the DS4 controller too. I've found a setup which allows me to use even the f1 cars fairly well. If you're locking up brakes a lot then you can do two things

1 lower the brake strength in the car setup

2 Brake hard initially and ease off gradually. This may be made easier with the right controller setup.

I do the second one but I still find it difficult. With enough practice I'm sure I could get a reasonable pace but over the course of an hour and when under pressure it would all go out the window! :irked:

Hi guys

Thinking tonight around 7.30pm BST we will launch a ZIC or Sakitto I with 2 random weather slots, 15 minute practice, 15 minute qualifying and 1 hour race. Either in GT4 Or Lotus 78 Cosworth? Or we could do a Snetterton 300 in the touring cars? What are people thinking?

A little while ago @JohnScoonsBeard suggested in the endurance thread the possibility of doing a full length Formula A race. It's a great idea and something we can all discuss and organise together and now pit stops seem to be better we will have a better chance of pulling it off.

Things to work out -

1. How close to a real F1 race do we want it to be? For example, using 2 different tyre compounds during the race. This (obviously) can't be enforced and would rely completely on trust. Qualifying, do we just use one qualifying session or try and work in knock out sessions? Refuel or no refuel? Any other rules/regs.

2.Room settings - ABS, TC, damage level etc.

3.Best time/day to race.

4.Track - suitable/unsuitable tracks, current/old tracks.

And absolutely anything else people can add.
If you are interested, get involved, voice your opinion and don't be afraid to disagree with something if you think another way of doing it is better.

Also @JohnsBeard - do you think this needs a separate thread?

That sounds like a great idea! SPA would be a blast to go with the race next weeked!

I would suggest that one week to get the details ironed out would not be long enough. However the idea has piqued my interest so I'll throw in my two scents for what it's worth.

I wouldn't choose Spa, if we're aiming to be authentic then F1 cars (presumably) are hard enough to drive anyway, that's before you throw in Belgiums unpredictable weather. Instead I would choose somewhere conditions are always constant, but spice it up with a day to night transition. Dubai springing to mind, but maybe there are more night race circuits (floodlit) in Pcars ive yet to come across.

I also think splitting the event over two or three weeks would be a good Idea. Not strictly in keeping with the real life counterpart but better accessible for everyone. As an example:

Practice 1, 2 and 3 to be held on weekend one. An hour or two's session on Friday Saturday and Sunday night. Most people should be able to make at least one if not all.

Qualifying to be held week two. To make an occasion of the event contenders could first race a support class similar to a real F1 weekend. Porsche Cup or lower formula for example. Half hour race, followed by two half hour Quali sessions and a final 15 minute quali session in knockout format. Comfort breaks in the appropriate places bringing the session to around two hours.

Weekend three. Main event. You'd have to figure out how to get the grid correctly formed up but a 20 minute warmup/form up should be good before the race. Accurate lap count of course.

Just suggestions. Would appreciate a link to said endurance thread too @Spooky Wooky
