As you can see from @Jordan's messages earlier in the thread, no, that was not the intention:Okay, you win, I'm paying to get rid of the ads.
In all honesty, I kinda hope this wasn't your intention.
I'm sorry you guys are having trouble with them; we are using a new ad provider and I'm working with them to figure out how to prevent these banners from being displayed when you're signed in to your account.
Unfortunately these things happen from time to time, especially with new advertisers. We do have preset ad areas on the site templates that adverts are not supposed to break out of - precisely because we want GTP to be as nice as it possibly can be. Some advertisers take the piss, and we do our best not to work with advertisers like that. We're getting closer to a solution with the ad provider to disable these; it could be implemented as soon as today or tomorrow, so hang tight.
So you have been on this site for 3 years and you want to say the owner is trying to take advantage it's members? There is no intention at all. This website is great and yeah occasionally problems happen with ads. It happens it gets fixed and boom the site is still great. I haven't been premium except for one year and the last couple months. I have never had a problem with ads being a major problem and if they were they were fixed. I've been here for 6 and shall years.Okay, you win, I'm paying to get rid of the ads.
In all honesty, I kinda hope this wasn't your intention. The site ran so smooth for so long... And then last month everything just got commercial. I'm paying money because I want to communicate with my friends without this huge lag all the time. Espe........cial.........ly wh........en........... I'm ty...p...ing. Pretty bummed out that we got slammed by commercialism.
Eight minutes later and I still can't buy the Premium membership.... because these ads are bogging my laptop down so much that I can't find the screen. Dude, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from business school. You're website is in a bad way. You don't want this kind of frustration with all the new traffic you're going to be seeing in the next couple months. I hate to sound cocky, or arrogant, but I'm not wrong here. I'm trying to help you. If you don't do it right, somebody else will.
There have also never been ads that have been this obtrusive for the whole amount of time I've been here either. What is going on here is that you have an inability to notice how bad these actually are, because you're actually a premium user. This site is becoming difficult to use on mobile, so much so that I try to avoid actually using it if I'm not on my desktop. I know that @Jordan is working on it, but you're commenting on something while having no idea how it's affecting people. It's all out of frustration, I assure you, and some people are just more patient than others. So you have been on this site for 3 years and you want to say the owner is trying to take advantage it's members? Just give it time, it will be back soon. It’s still there for me. I don’t mind ads but I can’t type a post up on mobile, takes ages because of them and also pages seem to crash more frequently now. Never had that before.Just noticed, i'm not receiving them anymore on my iPod Touch! Anyone else no longer seeing them on mobile?
Jordan already answered that:is this a conscious GTPlanet design change or are the ad providers overstepping literal and figurative boundaries?
With Jordan being out of the country for the GT Sport launch, he hasn't exactly had a lot of time to work on this. I'm sure once he's back home, it will all be taken care of.we are using a new ad provider and I'm working with them to figure out how to prevent these banners from being displayed when you're signed in to your account.
Jordan already answered that:
According to the data, you are wrong. Average session length has increased 28%, average pages viewed per visit has increased 33%, and the bounce rate (the percentage of users who view only one page) has decreased 8% since September 1. These are industry standard metrics for user experience, and I would expect all to be negatively impacted if the experience was so poor. I also use the site with the same ads a regular visitor would see, and have not experienced these problems.Dude, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from business school. You're website is in a bad way. Perhaps they will, but other sites in this space have not been doing so well, shutting down or selling off, and the second-largest racing game forum has over seven ads per page (we have five). Of course, if a Summa Cum Laude business student laments paying $1 per month to support this type of community, it raises the question of whether or not it is economically viable at all.If you don't do it right, somebody else will.
From the time you posted this to Jordan's latest post here, I never got them again. Not sure why you still did when I didn't, and I don't even use adblock on mobile.Just give it time, it will be back soon. It’s still there for me.
That's how it did for me as well, be thankful it ain't like those Wikia sites, they're far worse! At least it's resolved now! 👍I don’t mind ads but I can’t type a post up on mobile, takes ages because of them and also pages seem to crash more frequently now.
