CSR Elite Wheel will not go into PC or PS3 mode

All of a sudden my CSR Elite wheel will no longer go into PC nor PS3 mode although it will go into XBox mode.

When I turn the wheel on and after it self calibrates I press the 'back' button to go into PC mode. The "---" marks disappear and a blue dot appears but never goes away. When I press the back button + the connect button nothing happens. The wheel will neither connect with my PS3 nor with my computer.

When the wheel was working properly the blue dot would appear when I pressed the back button to put the wheel in PC mode but it would always disappear after about 1 sec... at which time I would press the back button + the connect button to go into PS3 mode.

Anyone else experiencing this problem?

I've had this happen to me once, my USB cable was not properly inserted into my ps3. Reconnected the USB cable and never had a problem since.

Thanks but I've tried that... plus tried using a different USB cable and a different PS3 as well as two different computers... no go at all, the wheel just sits there with the little blue dot (which should indicate PS3 mode) on, will not respond on computer or PS3.

Try relinking the wheel to the PC. Make sure you have the driver loaded on your pc first though. Maybe this will help reset the wheel. If that works then try it back on your PS3.

Tried this on three different computers, driver is loaded, wheel in bootloader mode but no luck, firmware updater will not let me select firmware for updates, status says NOT READY. I've tried every USB port on all three computers one of which is the computer I initially installed the firmware with.

The wheel will not go into PC mode (and therefore cannot be put in PS3 mode).

Before it stopped working here is the sequence:

Turn wheel on - wheel would self calibrate

Press and hold back button for 1 sec - the three blue dash marks (---) would disappear and one blue dot (decimal point) would light up for 1 or 2 seconds then disappear, wheel was in PC mode.

Press connect button + back button - blue dot (decimal point) would appear and stay lit, wheel was in PS3 mode.

What happens now:

Turn wheel on - wheel self calibrates

Press and hold back button for 1 sec - the three blue dash marks (---) disappear and one blue dot (decimal point) appears and does not disappear, wheel is in limbo (neither PC mode nor PS3 mode).

Press connect button + back button - nothing happens

So far I am not very pleased with the CSR Elite.

Had exactly the same problem with the Elite too.

I turned it all off, unplugged all the cables including PSU left it an hour, reconnected it all back up and it worked fine again.

I'm certain your wheel isn't broken if it's any help.

Before trying this, try unplugging everything and cycling the power button a few times and see if that works. If it doesn't, unplug everything again and leave it for an hour or so.

Thanks guys, tried both methods listed above and no luck. I hate to disagree with yhou drugstorecowboy but I believe my wheel is broken. It will not go into PC mode on the PC or on the PS3. Since I cannot get it to go into PC mode there is no way to get it to PS3 mode.

I've sent an e-mail to Fanatec with a description of the problem and a link to the a video file showing what happens. If anyone cares to take a look at the video file here is the link: CSR Elite Malfunction

I have this issue with my "Beta Wheel" since the latest firmware update.
It goes directly into X360 mode. I assumed it may of been a "beta" issue as had not read reports of others till now having these symptons.

Re-installed the new driver twice. (Crappy Win Vista) still has this issue.
I found if you hit the "))) connect button" within 1/2 a second of the wheel stop spinning you will get it to go into PC mode then you can switch to PS3 mode.

Unfortunately I have not had time to try things or use the wheel in over 3 weeks because of now 2 family related deaths and our lovable pet dog of 15 years passing away last weekend. Whole family is just gut wrenched / heart broken.

Sorry I cant offer more help myself at this time though.

If your CSR Elite wheel goes straight into xbox mode on startup, it might be a sticking xbox guide button. I know that on mine I have to be careful when hitting the xbox button as it will easily get stuck pushed in. A faulty button might be registering as being pushed in even when it is not. Just something else to look at.

Check when your wheel turns on if you see the green lights flashing around the xbox button.

My wheel is not going straight into xbox mode, it starts normally by self calibrating, once the self calibration has completed the three dashes "---" appear as they should. At this point is where I have a problem, when I push the back button (to put the wheel in PC mode) the wheel does not go into PC mode nor can I get it to go into PS3 mode.

Condolences to you and your family Mr Latte.

Tried the above but still no luck.

I'm convinced this wheel is defective. I sent an e-mail to Fanatec support a few days ago and then again yesterday but have not yet received a reply.

I thought you had to push the back button, and that tiny button at the same time?

Stupid question, but are you hitting both?
