Current progress reports

Here is my recent progress.

I have been trying to win F1s at endurance races. Look here for details.

Mixed in with the F1 adventure I was also trying to win all the colours of the fantasy cars and experimenting and disproving the X theory in the process.

I recently decided I was getting nowhere with my % complete (stuck on 89% for ages). I decided to go for the S license. Already had S1, S3 and S4.

First night tried S2, S5 (mainly) and S6. Got nowhere.

Second night concentrated on S5. Basically started taking more risks ie going faster and found I could keep off the walls and still go faster. Ended up jagging it.

Third night S6 - got to within 0.8 secs but then just got into a slow phase where nothing went right.

Forth night S7 - manual - 1st run about 5-6 secs slow. Second run nailed it.
S6 - auto - broke early and hugged the inside kerb for hairpin. Broke early for next 3 corners and accelerated through them. Took final corner before uphill run to corkscrew flatout. Broke early for corkscrew and jagged the line that allows the Viper to stay stable through it and blasted off down the hill. Broke early for second to last corner and accelerated through it. Broke too early for final corner and almost spunout. 0.018 secs too slow.
Next lap got good acceleration out of hairpin and jagged some quick corners to beat time but 0.3secs.

Fifth night - S2. 6 secs too slow on first run. Managed to get down to 2.5.

Sixth night - Realised the GT40 is very low to the ground and that it coasts well. 1.5 secs slow then about 1 sec inside the time. Coasted first chicane.

Seventh night - manual - changing gear. S8 about 7 second too slow. then 3rd gear all the way 1.6 sec too clow.

Eighth night - manual - 3rd gear all the way - 0.138 sec too slow on first run.
Next lap - went wide before 1st turn. Broke lightly but early and accelerated around corner. At top of hill went wide, broke early and turned in early and accelerated towards the right hander. 1st sector time 24.xx. Turned in eraly and accelerated towards hairpin. Broke early and stayed away from outside wall. Accelerated all the way until the start of tunnel straight. For busstop chicane went wide but turned in early. Accelerated through chicane. Broke early for remaining corners (this must be the trick). Went up to 4th gear for final straight. About 0.2 sec inside time.

Took the easy road and ran Polyphony 001 with 8000kms on it to the Dream Car series and took about 12 restarts to get the green, yellow and white Pol001. The black, yellow and white came up but I already had that.

Will soon do Polyphony Digital Cup, Like the Wind, Time Trials, Vitz Pro, Elise, Formula GT - 100%

I have the Rome race won and the setup saved. Tried to qualify at Laguna but struggled. Quit.

Did short test at the Test Track and saw that was going to be a walkover.

Just need to test Laguna, SSR and GVS. I think my problem is that I have not done a lot of driving in the slower cars. And end up braking too early etc.

:D gumpy: if you've got the good trans in your Vitz, try these "Auto Sets":

Test Course.....30
SS11 II.............28
GRS II...............27

might save you a little "Fiddlin'" time...UB57

Thanks buddy. No wonder I was getting nowhere with Laguna. I had adjusted the gears but hadn't gone that far yet. I was going to though as I could see when driving near an AI car that I did have more work to do.

While we are hijacking this thread...I spent about 5 minutes playing in the Elise trophy (ie seeing what the AI is like) the other night. At this stage I don't want anyones setups but have others found the MSE to be very twitchy. I have a setup that accelerates well and has a decent enough top speed but any AI taps and she spins and 1/2 a wheel on the grass and bye, bye. I want to try to use 100% gumpy setups for this series as a final boost in self satisfaction but just wondered if others had found the twitchiness to start with.

Does your wife/boss know you have that fiat ?

Be careful either when sleeping or when making love that you don't start calling out Fiat, oh Fiat. LOL.

To gumpy :
 Yes be careful w/either Elise. I spent a lot of time w/both a few weeks ago trying to get "Postable" times for GT3Times. I think the problem is their light weight as the Rumble Strips are NOT their friend. One tire on a strip & a "snap spin" may well insue. Personally found the little 190 more pleasurable to drive & almost as fast as the MSE. (You MIGHT consider using the 190 for this series.) Hope this helps...UB57
:D

Yeah I had heard about the 190. I will play with both at some stage soon and see how I go.

Thanks for the advice.

I might try the time trials first as my time is more suited to that sort of thing at the moment.

:D Not a bad idea as you've just done the S-License tests, right??? At the very least the last TT:eek: (#10 I think):eek:will make you wish you were back taking your S-License again!!! But you need to "Gold" them all for 100% so why not now???...UB57
:D

Thanks for the confidence boost. Yes I have just got my S license.
And yes I have heard that some of the TTs are quite hard. I have only done one lap at Laguna in the Viper. Problem was I didn't realise how much easier it was to drive than the S license Viper so drove too carefully.

In the end I found the S license hype more intimidating than the tests (that is when I got the balls to sit down and do them).

Basically I want to try to end with 4 F1s from the one race ie Formula GT Having pre-raced Cote of course, Pro mode complete, Sim mode complete and 100% complete.

The Polyphony Digital Cup is going to bore me senseless.

I think I might do in this order:

TTs
Like the Wind
Vitz
Polyphony
Elise
Cote
Formula GT

Aaaahhahahahahaha! Or, in my case, "Miata, oh, Miata!"

i find the best car for the polyhony digital is the xj220 with t1's as it corners like a dream and is faster than the competition unlike any other non-tuned car in the game

I'm doing the Formula GT - using the Polyphony001 (F094/S in NTSC ver. if I'm not mistaken). Longest margin so far is over a lap (Midfeild) to under 3 seconds in Seattle.

How about the GT1 road car. I hardly ever hear of it but I was looking through my garage and saw it. I stripped it of all my purchases and it qualified for the PD Cup.

I guess you could still say it is boring but at least when lapping the field multiple times you do come up against traffic whereas where you win by 3/4 lap you don't.

In the end I could not help myself but try for another F1 car. Did the first 3 races with the GT1. I used to hate this car. Now after S8 and PD Cup I am starting to like it.

Would you suggest those gear settings for a stock motor or maxed out motor ? Does it make any difference ? I currently have 2 maxed out turbos and one maxed out NA Car ie I tried various things to beat this. I basically quit and moved on just before I was going to play with the gears.

I assume this is with the default final drive ?

gumpy - I've recently finished the Formula GT Cup, and I was just wondering if there's a 001 equivalant to the NTSC F686/M, ie a 001 that does over 900 hp. Is there?

To gumpy :
:D Yes to both. Maxxed out turbo is about 288 HP if I remember & Default Final Drive Ratio. Let us know how you do...UB57
:D

With your Vitz, UB, did you but it straight from the Toyota dealership, max it out then race? Only mine seems a little slow.

No. All Pol 001s have the same specs and all 002s have the same specs.

We are stuck with something like the F094s = POL 001 and something like the F688s = POL 002.
