Cut PD some slack.

I hope IGN delivers with proper questions! and Kaz delivers with proper answers, they also need to put back that list and update it on their website.

I doubt we'll see an update in the IGN interview. They did not send their in-house GT freak. Unless he has a list of questions he's told to ask, in depth meat & potatoes questions won't be asked, only simple ones will.

It annoys me why Kaz either never wants to answer questions or he beats about the bush. I would liked to have seen better community /developer relations, i beleive it's GT's thorn in its side.

I think with all this info coming, we (especially me) are a bit over excited and got caught up in things. Cant wait for more though...

What a lot of the 'betrayed' haters fail to remember is that allot can happen in 5 years. I am sure if the Sony bigwigs had there way then GT5 would have been released already. It would not surprise me if KY is constantly clashing with the Sony Big boys as he wants one thing and they want quick sales.

When making a real car, or a movie, we start with target concept/content which is how we want the game/movie/car to be but this is often allot different from the final product. From the start of any concept, intentions are always good and often unrealistic not to mention throughout the creation the many forces at (inside and out) work behind the scenes of any major project! Unexpected problems surface like tech issues, budget issue etc many big projects suffer this and the creators are often left frustrated at the end once the product has been released as maybe it is not how he/she first envisaged.

If we are lacking anything when we have GT5, the golden thing is that KY can give us the rest as DLC - more realistci damage models can be updated as well as the damage features being added to cars that do not have it etc

I think the reason people are disappointed about damage is the fact that KY kept saying that he won't incorporate damage if it can't be done properly. Not having it in all cars is not what people have been expecting when damage finally shows up in GT.

EDIT - I agree with Coiler, Kaz & PD needs to clear up whatever mis-information is circulating and set us straight. No BS answers, no tip toeing around questions this time.

I'm sorry, but I was always under the impression that if damage was included it would be race cars only, that was the general concensus, maybe some people got a bit carried away and didn't pay attention?

I fully agree, it just sucks that we're stuck waiting some more until TGS but seriously some of the comments are just plain sad sometimes :embarrassed:

@IsmokeGT:

Really? The GT5P HSR looks much better to me, besides, the marker things in GTPSP version makes it look fake.

It's only recently that it's been implied that damage will be for race cars only, but KY has been quoted many times about the lack of damage and his reply has always been: "We will not include damage if we can't do it properly."

While its been heavily hinted at that damage would be limited its no less disappointing that a series that strives for accuracy in recreating production cars excludes those cars from a highly anticipated feature.

I have zero complaint about the inclusion of the damage and or the level of damage shown. My only complaint at this point is that its only on the type of cars I dont generally use.

I personally am very satisfied with the outcome of gamescom, lets face it we expected a little announcement and possibly a trailer. Yet we find a whole booth of playable versions of the game that makes me very optimistic. Top Trumps to the creator of this thread we need more positive people. I think the damage is good.

Every version of Gran Turismo has blown me away. I have no expectations other than to have the best racing game made to date. The only drawback I have ever considered was the fact that as a "Driving Simulator", it was less of a "Racing Game". It looks to me like I am finally getting my wish with more race cars and races to include race craft and race strategy. I have to think that some out there simply want the world and would never be satisfied no matter how awesome GT5 ends up being. To me, having private rooms and voice chat for online events totally makes up for a marginal damage model. There has never been a perfect racing game and it seems as though there never will, but nothing comes closer than Gran Turismo. I for one am a very happy camper based on what I've seen so far and I expect to be putting in hundreds of hours after launch day .... all with a silly grin on my face :)

Just give me a release date.

All of this over analysis FFS, it's a car sim, nothing will be hugely suprising, just features added here, some not implemented there.

I thought it looked very very lush, and i apprieciate everything KY and the whole team have done at PD i.e damage and what not ( sounds like a grammy speech this ).As i said comparing the photos ( can't really see as much ) to the vids i couldn't see much and after playing the high res vids, it looked much much better.I noticed the trackside differences on the Tokyo track instantly.

GT5 will be amazing no matter what, and it will sure as heck be in my room come christmas time. I honestly do not mind waiting for it, because I've got a whole bunch of games upstairs, and they're brill. So I'm not exactly dying of boredom.

And, also, what's to say that the demo was brand spanking new? It may just be a beta of GT5... I mean, they could have been trying to get this demo working for GamesCom 2008, but didn't finish it in time, so they just said "okay... look, let's just get it playable, and save this demo for GamesCom 2009. Just slap it in some out-of-the-way folder, and let's crack on with GT5"

And then, lo and behold, this year came the infamous E3 2009 trailer, which featured the same car with dust buildup, and obvious deformation around the bonnet after a bad jump, and they might not have had time to update the GamesCom demo with this stuff because it would be too much time, time that they needed for getting GT5 finished.

Okay, I may be spouting utter crap here. Hope some of you will be able to get what I mean :P

To all the complainers on the forums:

Look what you've done to little Kazunori...

You've upset him and made him cry :(

*Mr. Yamauchi and PD couldn't possibly care less about what anyone says here on this forum*

I didnt mean the actual picture quality. To me it looks more like a race track. HSR just seemed better. Maybe I am dilusional with excitement, that is most likely the case.

^I didn't mean to come off aggressive, sorry. I'm talking about the actual road surface on the track. Lane markers don't really denote a race track to me, but to each there own.

I must confess I haven't had much chance to to read the posts today but I was staggered to read the title of the thread.

Since the announcement yesterday from the PD website i've been delighted with what I have read. This excitement has only increased today after watching the videos.

Personally damage has never been at the top of my list. The top of my list has always been what online features GT5 will have. This for me is what prolongs the lifespan of GT5 (like any game!). When I race online there is no way I would race against strangers with collisions on especially after my experiences of GT5P. Obviously I would prefer all cars have damage but I certainly won't lose any sleep over it!

P.S Just done this video which includes latest footage of FM3 & GT5. Also includes some rather upbeat music to todays new videos. Worth watching because for me it shows just how superior GT5 looks.

Give it 10-20mins as its still processing.

Looks good.

As I said before, "GT5 is not going to be a crashing sim/game." PD wants to do the best of what they can do.. make a driving/racing sim. If you want awesome crashes or whatever, go play Burnout or GTA IV.

Who knows if those bumper crashes will affect the ride of the car in full game, and yes, with FM2 it was the same with just bumpers and bit of scratches but it had some internal damage as well. All we need is PD to include internal damage as well, especially for the cars that will have visual damage and internal damage for all cars!
