On the R18's hybrid, you can save it by braking lightly at full throttle before the braking zone, as well as mid-corner if you're stuck in the dirty air of someone slower. You need to have some battery for it to recharge this way however, if it's already empty you'll need to wait until the next major braking zone and hope you don't deploy it all on the exit. It's a pain for sure, I still have trouble doing it myself, but it's either that or be 1 second off the pace by using the TS050 / 908 :indiff:

Great lap but 2 thing i cannot fathom.

a) The speed you carry through the T1 and 2 complex, how the heck?

b) The downhill left hander into the esses, you hold 5th gear and carry ENORMUS speed, how???? i have to tap the brake to get her to turn in but you don't even change down so how do you rotate the car so easily and still not have it wash wide? I don't get how you're doing it.

a) +2 BB helped the car rotate a bit before the first chicane so I could take a straighter line through it. For the second part, the inside kerb makes the car turn sharper on the exit, if done right it feels like it's on rails.

b) You need to start turning in and then lift the throttle. Lifting will give you extra rotation into the corner because it transfers more weight towards the front. You also have to hit the inside kerb right, otherwise you'll understeer off anyway.

Oh and I cannot do this consistently by any stretch of the imagination. Kerbs are super important for turning around this track; occasionally I would hit one just right and gain half a tenth, but it would be extremely difficult to replicate again because it's so precise. I do prefer that over BS like the Tokyo South Outer chicane though :P

Has anyone run the Mazda 787B 91 in race C at all? How did it go.

I did some time trials with it and that thing is like a rocket in a straight line easily breaking 200 mph. For me it had a couple issue the first being it's seem a bit of a tank in the corners but I suspect that might be a lack of talent on my part. The other arguably bigger issue is it sounds like someone killing a cat with a dentist drill. I only did 5 laps in my testing and I was ready to rip my ears off

Still I would be interested to see someone with some talent run it through a race. You might want to mute your sound though hehe.
Widely regarded as one of the best sounds in motorsports...

But yes, the Group C cars are a bit of a tank by comparison to the LMP cars. The newer cars have much higher downforce and are designed to be pushed hard around a corner, whereas the old Group C cars were out and out speed machines with little in the way of cornering downforce.

As usual the jag my fastest red group 4 car, 2.04.5 with more in it. But 2 laps in TT and bang 2.04.1. Damn.

I managed two wins in the Jag starting from pole (Q-time in TT about 2 tenths quicker than my Jag time) I'd never run it until a few weeks ago after I'd seen it praised on here, and now it's a favourite.

If I went like hell the first few corners I managed to pull a 1.5 second gap while the TTs all squabbled.

Also ran well in the GT86 until I made a mistake and got swamped. Similar with 458, led laps 2 and 3 til I got punted and ended up 7th.

Ran a couple of races from the back, first in the 2011 Audi (mainly because I have the Le Mans one), and then in the Peugeot. Both races I had a '16 Audi behind, which was ahead by the chicane. Fun races with both cars, the hybrids fly past out of the chicane and out of T1, but the Peugeot especially has great top speed, and I think both are a bit better on tyre wear, as I seemed to be doing better at the end, others running wide at Bruxelles and Pouhon.

Audi went from P19 to P9, and the Peugeot from P17 to P10, but out of the two the Peugeot feels like the better option.

Hi! I did 3 Cs yesterday on my alt, using r18 both for quali and race.. Yes I was in weaker lobbies than my "normal" level, but noticed that TS050 start to loosing pace after lap 6, tyre wear? My QT is 1.58,4xx, last race I did I won from pole, FL 2.00.9xx without slipstream on lap 10:lol: I might be wrong but r18 is faster than ts050 even in the race:) today Im gonna try 908

he called it a dive-bomb, tbh i wasn’t looking for a move but it looks like he braked too early and i just had to go for it , and after reviewing it i think its because i was 10kph faster and we both braked on the same spot, so obv it will take me longer than him to slow down,

To my defense, this one worked very well,

I bet the other guy never checked his radar imho

I bet he didn't even have the time to notice until it was too late, the radar only reaches so far behind and you came in very fast... I'm surprised you didn't get a penalty for that, you did nudge him off and pass, even though he turned into you so technically it's not your fault. He wasn't planning on giving you any room but he didn't defend either, so it's his own fault.

Good pass.

During today's session of Daily Race C, while I became aware that the R18/TS050 are the go to cars for this race, I decided to try winning this race with the 919 Hybrid just to see how much it fares against those two (because I noticed that in my end that it's not being used much in terms of the grid) and I find it to be a potent car if given to the right guy plus handling the KERS properly plus I like how the KERS is being deployed and recharged for the 919 Hybrid compared to those two LMP1 cars but that's just me.

Also that start was something especially when you have the R18 on your tail (too bad he overshot it around the Les Combes portion). I felt bad for the guy in TS050 in third because he got hit with a nonsense penalty when the R18 '16 spun out.

Spent so many credits buying GR.1 cars to try for race C and I haven't really found one I enjoy in the race. Not really a fan of the hybrids but I can't deny they are the best for this race, especially the Toyota. Of the other non hybrid cars I have run the Mazda LM55 is a good drive and a rocket on the straight while does ok in the twisty bits.

Dunno I not even sure if I want to set a qualifying time for this as I am not finding the race fun and everyone is being super aggressive. Might take an ACC vacation this week and hope we get better races in GT Sport next week.

Finished Last of Us 2 so back to racing.
Race C is good fun, have tried the Toyota and the Audi in race. The Audi feels more predictable than the Toyota and in my hands there is only 1 sec a lap difference between the two. Bagged a couple of 3rd places so far.
At the moment my QT is good for 4th on the grid so I have had the advantage of starting on the straight, that will change as the week progresses, hopefully race practice will allow me to qualify better, possibly capable of knocking a sec or two off it.
Racing seems very clean, even the TT cup on B race seems quite civil :)

Have yet to get some close racing in B yet. Group 1 (or whatever they are) are just waaay to fast for my blood. I think I might build up my European acct credit-wise. And create a new American alt account.

question for tech nerds....

on my normal acct, I have 4 bars of connectivity. When I log onto my European acct, I can’t get out of the yellow 3 bars. What gives?

Just an observation I never thought I’d say....

....are medium tires making race B boring????

Copy. I figured there was something behind it. Anything I can do about it, that an obviously marginally capable person can do?

Are you in the Americas region? I've seen plenty of BTCC action & I only ran 4 races last night.

I'll start by saying no & counter with another question. Am I the only one who feels like even though race B has no tire wear, the grip level begins to fall off around lap 3?

you might’ve onto something

Just had a weird glitch on Race C - qualified 4th then on the grid the cars all started auto driving all over the grass for 2 minutes?? Finally got going and I was facing backwards in 8th place on the grass, and couldn't any traction on the tarmac either.

Think I’m going in on DR2 this week. Gr4 after gr2 Seaside feel like pigs and LMP you can’t use cockpit view. Being on the roof makes it feel like a racing kart on a pogo stick lol

I like driving the Mcclaren VGT in qual but it’s a slug when weights added for fuel.
The ts050 is an understeer queen. I can’t stand it. The Audis aren’t much different. I don’t like any of the hybrids at all I think they drive like crap. Perpetually stuck in understeer.
I fail to see how the Dallara and F1500 can be so engaging but LMP suck so bad. Try cockpit view haha you can’t see anything!
They don’t turn in or rotate off throttle and trail braking doesn’t help much either...
I just don’t find them fun.

The LM55 is *was* my "dark horse" choice for the week but it is 2 seconds slower compared to the R18/QT. The R18 non-optomized-hybrid laps are also faster. I have not tried a full race with it.

It feels like the best investment is utilizing some of the suggestions to harvest efficiently during the lap. BB+4, light and earlier braking. If you can harvest a "little green" in each corner it will be utilized on the subsequent exit. My thinking is that you do *NOT* need a full green bar for it to be *working*. Note that hybrid power is not being used in sixth gear on the Kemmel straight. That suggests that you just need *some* for each corner exit.

Even with no tire wear you can overheat your tires and loose grip.
