@Scaff : how is your adventure getting along? As soon as you hit level 26 and 27 the whole Dakar events open up and maybe sooner in free run . Looking forward to your further impression, that is if you are enjoying yourself and want to do it of course 😊

Ok baffled by the update, I’ve got the extended map DLC installed but don’t see the new events in Sport and/or Professional modes.

What am I missing this time..?

There are 2 updates! One is a patch and the other one is an update for the Saudi map. Both about 3.5 GB in size

According to my log, the map downloaded on 11/17, and the 1.05 patch last night.

Anyone have a screen shot what the additional events look like? They could be in plain sight and I’m just missing them.

Thanks, I clearly don’t have that map/events even though my system says the map was downloaded.

I’ll reach out to Saber support who have been helpful but not entirely successful. Still never got access to the Audi e-Tron for preordering.

Would it help if you delete the map extension and download it again?
 
For what it’s worth; I can confirm the DLC map is downloaded because I’m at level 27 and have access to the ‘20, ‘21, and ‘22 full Dakar rally events in Simulation mode. Fine.

Still doesn’t explain why the new Sport and Pro events from @doblocruiser YT video and post above are missing.

Strange.

 
You are on PS4 aren't you? Even if you have the map, there should have been an update. I'll see if I can figure out which version of the Saudi map I am running. Will report back later.

I bought the game with the black friday deal and just started playing. I did the first few events in sport mode and used the free electric audi and the vehicles from the spins after the events. But i noticed there is a throphy where you need to spend more than 100,000 Dakar points. Can you just spend the points on any car you like or is it better to save them?

Overal I like the game, it gives a bit of motorstorm feel with the sport events. The graphics are nice and after I changed some of the controller sensitivity settings most of the 4 wheeled vehicles drive fine. With the bikes it depends on the type of terrain so i think i need to adjust my driving for that.
 
The most difficult/almost impossible stage yet.

Wadi Al Dawasir - Wadi Al Dawasir / Stage 08 of Dakar ‘20

Using a quad

Tried it about half dozen times, haven’t made it to the finish line all but once for running out of fuel. The other time I was DQ’d for missing a waypoint.

First few unsuccessful tries were due to getting off course, but my most recent attempt I stayed on course except for a minor momentary loss of bearing, but still ran out of fuel about 10kms from the end. My closest finish.

The fuel load/distance for this event leaves absolutely no room for error, at least using the quad.

Why so difficult? Argh

Should I not follow traces so closely and just trust/follow the moyen (average) bearing directly?
 
Made it past Stage 08 in Dakar ‘20.

I believe there’s something wrong with the series of Waypoint Safeties around km 270 that don’t or have issues appearing, especially note 274.98. Today 274.98 finally popped in an odd/haphazard way. Previously I hit this same area triggered causing me to drive around in circles wasting fuel.

I should have recorded the gameplay.

And to double check, aren’t waypoint safeties supposed to show on the cap heading earlier than the others? Like at 2km?
 
There should be an updated DLC roadmap for the delayed update releases sometime this month.

I got this in the Steam winter sale and I'm enjoying it so far. I chose the big trucks to start with and missed all the handling problems since they seem pretty easy to control with a pad. I do not like the co drive though, he just seem to shout out random things in a jarring manner. The only useful information I get is cap bearing, biggest stage I have done so far was a touch over 100KM.

I did all the rallies in a truck too - a lot of fun. I also turned off the navigator as he can be unreliable occasionally, saying left when he means right :) The longer stages are in Professional and Simulator modes where you can be driving for an hour though you'll need to learn the road-book symbols.

I'm not sure I will turn the navigator off just yet, still a lot in information to process while trying to drive as fast as possible lol. I'm playing in professional at the moment (not unlocked simulation). I will leave the longer stages for weekends I think but I did notice the game saves during a stage so you can quit and come back I think. I saw a useful Reddit post that had all the road book symbols and what they mean.
 
Only had an hour in free roam so far but it's everything I'd hoped for and more :) Will be doing a proper run tomorrow: Ha'il treasure hunt.
