Sorry for being late, I was upstairs trying to decide on the next race. Congrats to milefile for the first victory in Davey's Weekly Race! Here's the rundown on the times...if I missed anybody, just tell me. I'm not good at writing down junk like this

1. milefile................53.812
2. Iceman_360.......54.167
3. Davey.................54.189
4. The_Masaru05...54.728
5. SaccMann...........54.754
6. pupik..................54.863

Alrighty. Next race in my 'underrated' car series:

Car: '97 Camaro SS
Track: Laguna Seca
Mods: All mods including race mod allowed, must be UNDER ~591 hp
Tuning: Tune to your heart's content!

Why the ~591 hp limit? Well, once you are done running this, you are gonna want to use this car a lot, and taking off the 22 hp to get it under 591 hp is well worth it to widen the races you can race in.

So, you've got a week, hop on it!

If you want to line up HTML/VBulletin stuff try the "PRE" tag. You will get a mono-spaced font like Courier, but you may want to change the font size as well.

Yay! One point...I feel like the Lister Storm of the GTP...Now, on to the tracks before the USGP!

So far, I'm off and running...the car sure feels heavy, but nicely balanced in the corners. The last corner, as usual, makes or breaks your lap.

So far, I've got a 1:14.773 with 588hp.

Come on, is anyone going to even post a challenge? Davey, what do you have so far?

I have to try again later because my time sucks. I have

1:19.400 with 591 exact.

I only have about half of the mods on though so I'll get back when I have the car done. Later

Iceman, what are your specific mods? I have mine at about 546 or something.

And you, too, Pupik. What are your paricular mods to get 588?

To get 588, you should have the maximum turbo, muffler, intercooler if you can get it (I don't remember), a racing chip, and I think either port/poish or alignment, one of those.

I don't think there's turbo on the Camaro SS '97. I got the racing muffler, all the engine mods but only stage one NA tune; stage two would've put it over the top.

I'm wondering if the stage 2 NA tune would be better than the other stuff i.e. port and polish, etc. We'll see.

I love Laguna. Every time you master the corkscrew it's a whole new challenge in a different car, like say, a Camaro...

The other turns are actually just as tricky as the corkscrew... fast, yet slightly sharp... a very fine balance.

I used every engine/muffler mod except for the ROM chip. It gives you 588hp. (You also use a Stage 3 NA tuning, no turbo or intercooler is allowed.)

Let me check my car again...

588hp=
Port & polish, Engine Balancing, NA Tuning Stage 3, Racing Muffler

I have also used a full-mod LSD, racing flywheel, tull race tranny, triple-plate clutch, sports brakes, brake controller, super-soft tires, and racing mod w/stage 3 weight reduction.

No "for professionals" equipment has been added.

I also have to admit that it was rare to complete more than 2 or 3 clean laps at a time! But I went from 1:19s with no tuning, and knocked it down to high 1:16s with suspension tweaks and getting used to the car.

After optimizing the tranny for 6 gears, I was slicing time with a few low 16s, then a couple 15s (with a spin or three in between). Finally, a glorius 1:14.773 when I made a near-perfect lap. After that, two laps in the mid-15s, then a spin, so I posted the time.

To get excactly to 591hp tune the mufflers to racing, then tune port and polish and give it a computer chip, then give it a NA tune stage 3 or 2 and you should have 591hp

I bet Pupik will win. I won't post until tomorrow, but I doubt I'll beat that.

I did 1:17.58, but it said something about me leaving the track

I cut really hard for the first turn and might have gone off the track, but I don't think that that would necessarily be cheating, right?

That's happened to me before, It says something like "Invalid Time" or something, right.

I guess it's cheating since you admited it

When I was running this track in the GT300, I was running low 15's, without Laguna specific tuning. So I'll get to it in a sec.
