December Car of the Month - McLaren MP4-12C '10 - COME JOIN THE FUN!

I don't know if any of you did things like this when you were a kid, but I would drive by on my bicycle and when I past in front of our house house I would say " Hey Mom, look no hands", moms always love it it seeing their kids trying to be Evil Knievel, I learnt real quick not to brag this way to my mom and she never found out about the wheelies, jumps and modifying my bike into a chopper. So now we are older and not any wiser, our vehicles are bigger & faster and we still do crazy things with them. Every morning this week I've been having a little controlled fun going out of the driveway into the new fallen slow, I just have to floor it while turning into the street, so cool skidding in snow, I just make sure my wife's not looking :nervous:.

Rules:
1. I choose the track, conditions, and time trial regulations.
2. Tuner and reviewer use the reviewed car for the time trial.
3. Times are posted by each of the drivers, there is a gentleman’s agreement that each person will put down the true time.
4. You must have fun doing this, this is not an option

No Brakes.png

1. Track: Autumn Ring Mini
2. Car tuned as is with Sports Sports Soft.
3. Course Settings: as is
4. You must do the lap without using brakes, very simple.
5. No driving aids
6. 5 laps, best time wins. Laps invalid don’t count. Good Luck.

Advice: Go as fast as you can and stay on the track.

Third tune from you that I’ve tried, incredibly smooth 👍 , on track 5 there is a section where a lot of cars have difficulty going through, this one went by with flying colors :P (pun intended ). Though I find no major faults to it, it may suffer from to much ‘mechanical grip’ (don’t know if that’s the right expression). Your always in control with this tune but it’s missing some edge  to make it go faster, there are cars that I’ve tried (and sweated with) that ran in the same times but I could see the potential of gaining sometimes 1 second more with better control, with this one I don’t see much more gain to be made. This tune will please and enthrall 95% of the drivers using it, but may suffer a little when paired against upper echelon cars/drivers. Beautifully done :), but a tad slow :odd:.

It could be useful and fun if you tried some of the other tunes here ( if you do, take the time to give your impressions to those that you tried, like you, they will appreciate it), there's always something to learn from others, also making contacts makes being on a forum much more fun.

BTW, just checked and saw you were a fellow compatriot 👍, hope your not a LEAF's  fan.

I congratulate my friend for the tip, new style of driving, deta you this car it helps a little in deceleration, even with the transmission not being prepared, we would have to produce a transmission box reduced.:odd:

Thanks for another great review! I'll try to get to the challenge ASAP. I'll also try to work on my tune, I didn't get too much time to work on it before. And no, I'm definitely not a Leafs fan!

Edit: My time was a 40:476.

looks like 48.476 👍, ah that's too bad :grumpy:, good try though. I've heard they give driving lessons when you join the Snail league 👍👍, don't take it bad you really put your heart out in this one and what counts is not the result but that you participated ;). But you should really look into driving lessons :P, 8 seconds off, whew, that's a chunk though, you might also consider maybe going as a test pilot, I've heard of a garage called "Duck Mountain over Little Pond", you'd be an ace over there.

Nice time of 40.476 , just put my glasses on, I bow to the victor , I hope you had a little fun doing this.

McLaren MP4-12C '10 600PP/SS & RM - 625PP/SS : Review
Special note: Two tunes for the price of one, well actually 3 tunes for the price of one.

600PP/SS
After racing it on track 1, I was like thinking, ”wow, this one is going to eat up the competition”, than track 3,4 & 5 came :ouch:. As long as the tracks are smooth, this will carry you to destination with ease and the sensation of having total control 👍. Add to the equation a couple of good bumps, a few very sharp curves with high rumble strips and you’ve got a joy ride you’ll remember . No it’s not that bad when you look at the lap times, it’s even a little surprising considering how hard I had to work to keep it on track. (Just a flash that occurred in the black hole of my mind: it was like when we use to have a horse and you’d be going on the trail but it suddenly decided it was mooch time and left the trail to graze into the nearby pasture). So definitely a good fast tune which I can almost, (and I’m really close on this one), - handle.👍

600PP/RM
I’m a bad bad boy :D, I don’t tell before hand where I’m taking there cars, I just take the keys and go. If you put slicks on I’ll take it into the trails, very unfortunately these tracks were barred off for use. So here we go, in theory this car should be faster with RM, and it is, it should be easier to control and no it isn’t. What the ..:irked:.? If you get a chance (I know you don’t have the time right now, but in January) take it to track 5 (to be revealed soon) and try SS than RM and tell me what you think, maybe it’s just me not used to RM tires but I was getting some strange reactions in the longest curve, actually in most curves. The front end seemed to over grip and toss the car. The end result was (lap times ) were good, but something is weird in GT6. (or maybe with the driver, .:yuck:.. maybe.)

625PP/SS
So I’m there with the car, done my two championships and I’m thinking “what would DaBomm4” do, he would have started with the 625PP of course. So better late than never let’s put those missing parts and go .....

..... put back on the SS and peeled off into the sunset, So how was it? The front end is sensitive to bumps and slips easily on rumble strips. On more technical tracks the difference of 25PP was disappointing, in fact on some occasions I was faster with the 600PP version (???). Outside rear tire turns red and pushes the car. The tracks I chose did not help this version to shine out, but do we ever know where people are going to take our little monsters .

600PP/SS = Super

600PP/RM = To look into.

625PP/SS = May need some work from the MLSD department.

 and may your end of month at work leave you enough sanity to come back next month.

Thanks for the reviews, and with the 600/RM issue, when I test it I'll know more, but I assume the front just worked too well with the increased grip but the rear wanted to run away from the tires you gave it. When I get the chance I will look at revamping the 625PP tune with a better setup. I agreed that it likes a little more slip than we may want at times but I worked with it too much I guess.

I was sitting trying to figure out what car I will tune next and then I saw this come across, nice oval track, easy/soft corners. So I thought, why not. Get out there and the first 30 laps were all invalid due to drifting into the wall or the grass, mostly all involved spinning. Then I thought, why am I trying to drift the corners? So I eased off the gas and first lap was a 0:41.860, and it was the 1st clean lap, the 3rd lap was a 0:41.418, and then came the 4th lap... I started that lap with a big drift on the first corner, got to the midway checkpoint and it says I'm 0.352 ahead of my ghost and so I go at the next corner and all was going great, until those signs on the wall blocked my vision (yes third person view) and the car rolled and died. :banghead:

So I can either go buy a new car to finish clean laps 4 and 5 or go home with my sad little 2 thousandths gap lead. :odd:

Good time, 0.002 faster , if it hadn't been for @Ridox2JZGTE I never would have tried abs0, sort of makes you think a little about how the weight of the car can push it over the tires limit so easily when there's no help from the Driving Aids. It also makes me wonder how they programmed ABS, the one I have on my real car gets to work :D quite often 👍 and it has nothing to do with the way it is implemented in the game. Still thinking that 0.002 is quite close, I mean I don't know if a photo finish could tell them apart , it's great that you had time for this, have fun with your last two weeks of the month.

McLaren MP4-12C '10 550PP/(SH)-SS : review

It was tuned for SH but I took the liberty :P to run it with SS, you don’t have to thank me, I already did , anyways it had to be entered in the championship and with SH you wouldn’t even see the smoke of my Rocket’s tires way ahead of you. (I mean like real, real, real, way ahead of you ).

So this could have been the perfect time for revenge , “I” driving your car in a race where two of “my” cars are entered, ( notice I used the word “could” ) but for some strange :ill: reason I can never let my past (ghost line ) stay ahead of me, the present always has to be in front.

Well after 5 races and 7 cars entered you did actually did win 1 meager race (up to now), but that was because you had the best 👍👍👍 (& only) pilot available of course. The car has a love affair with the road, it never wants to let go it’s sticky arms around it :yuck:, and I did manage to break them up a few times 👍 but it took some pretty major force to do it. The car balance is super, ( yes you can take that as a complement ), I’ve come up with a devious way of seeing if the front and rear are in harmony together, but I’d have to tell you on which track I do the test and I just don’t think I need to give you any more help, you’ve done that enough with yourself. The transmission settings was an eye opener :odd:, worked great on some tracks, sucked like a bats dung on one ( that’s the track I beat you on 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 ), but still in the overall it fared (yawn) well.

OK, you beat me fare and square, and we will only know the results when @Bowtie-muscle puts them out, so great work and dream all you want until we know for sure what really happened :nervous:.

.... Oh and congrats, you've been voted best - BabySitter - of the year by http://www.parents.com/

Many thanks, for the review:tup:....and the nominations for the Babysitter of the year award. They both mean so much to me.:embarrassed:
I've got a good idea the next time they come visiting, take them out for a nice leisurely drive round the Mountain in the 2CV I borrowed from your garage and hopefully rock them all to sleep.💡

Might stop this from happening .....again....
Kimble Mess.jpg

Don't worry, I'll make sure I top them up with some Barr's IRN-BRU (Liquid Schwartz for kids!) before they go home. Daddy won't notice the difference, well not for the first 10 hours or so until they would normally start to settle down:odd:and they start getting faster and louder. Nothing to worry about really, it'll wear off in a few days;)

Anyway, back to the review. I thank you for the compliment (I'm sure I saw one in there somewhere:P) and apologies for the :odd: transmission it was a little experimental, just something I'd tried before on something a little similar. I really consider this to be one of my main areas for improvement in my tunes and haven't yet had a good sit down and work through our friendly neighbourhood Dragon's guide yet, but I'm sure it'll help a lot.

Thanks for taking the time to review the car  and for the pains I have in my sides right now. Best way to wake up and start the day:cheers:

 Fill it up with 90% alcohol, it helps to forget some embarrassing moments, trust me I know .
:bowdown:I bow to your malevolence! :bowdown:The bitter taste of defeat:yuck: shall haunt me terribly until I can avenge this tragedy....or get back home from work and get the bourbon out of the cabinet.

I congratulate my victor on his triumph, 👍 Let the victory be a sweet one and savoured. But call him King, I can not! There is but one true King and his name is Larry.

Thanks for the challenge, it was pretty good fun:D

@TurnLeft love your reviews get me laughing every time. Now I'm a tad worried about what you pin on mr after this Thursday my playtime will goto nill as my wife is on vacation for the rest of year (I'm not complaining:mischievous::mischievous::mischievous::sly:)
That was kind if you to nominate @Thorin Cain as baby sitter of the year :) it does take some serious energy to watch three kids if you can't get them to a playground that is.

The way I understood it, I was supposed to be the playground. Is that not what uncles are for?:boggled: I've been duped, duped I tell you! Wait till I see their mother. :grumpy::mad::lol:

I thought it was nice of him too:cheers: (Personally, I think he's just trying to make sure he doesn't get the gig. Don't you think he'd be a natural...telling such wonderful fairy-tales and all.:P)

My time is also running out , were opened 9 to 9 until the 24th :yuck:, but I'll try to do it in the mornings before going to work, don't worry about the review :scared:, I think I've used up all the words in my dictionary, and I'm starting to feel the christmas spirit rise in me. But I do have an educational challenge for you, it will be right up one of your alleys :sly:.

You're damn right about not wanting that gig :grumpy:, my wife and I finally have the house children free after 23 years 👍, was fun and exciting then , but now it's really great to have a little quiet , but I'm sure that will change if we get grandchildren, ( why am I even thinking of that :nervous:). Well I'm off to finish testing @brian wolf car, this guy has nerves of steel, always on the edge :nervous:.
