blake, you cant complain about bronte tagliani, i saw her at the indy a few years ago. HOLY **** SHE IS HOT!!!!!!!! but i think that they do have to make it into more of a show to try and get better ratings in the states.
I know why they do it, it just annoys me because last year the coverage was better, the commentators half knew what they were talking about and they didn't have meaningless segments to fill in time.

It annoys me how the commentators try to make it basic so casual fans can get the jist of what's happening but they never really commentate to the real fans thast know what's going on.

I was able to find some information on racing in Australia courtesy of e-Tracks online (http://etracksonline.co.uk), and it tends to cover some of the same ground mentioned here. Check out this site, or look at my excerpts from the site:

FROM: http://etracksonline.co.uk/Australasia/australia.html

"Australia's remote physical location relative to the rest of the world has let Australian motorsport develop to its own pace and style. Races and circuits - even those at World Championship level - have a strong Aussie theme, and much of the emphasis is placed on entertainment and fun."

Later on, it says:

"But Australians take their racing seriously; you only have to look at the national event the Bathurst 1000 has become to realize that."

Still, though. Australia needs a lot more racing coverage. I'm sorry. We just can't leave the Aussies hanging.

When I first found that site last year I was like OMG it's every track from all over the world! Then after a week the novelty wore off:lol:

I really think what we should do if we can't have races broadcast when they happen, or at least slightly after they happen we should get them in the off season when there is no motorsport on TV.

It would make me happy because around Chrissy I start watching all my race tapes because I getr withdrawals:lol:

This December on the Speed Channel, there will be a number of international races including FIA Touring Car, V8 Supercars, and that sort of thing. Nice of the international networks to offer this to us Americans now that NASCAR is out of here.

Yay! I've been patiently waiting for the V8 Supercars, and DTM, which I would like to see more of. :grumpy:

I've got a "bone to pick" with some anti-NASCAR fans... They all complain about "Nascar 24/7" and changing the name of Speed Channel, to Nascar Network, but do they bother watching ESPN's IRL races, CBS' broadcasts of [some] LeMans races, SpikeTV's CCWS (Champ Car) races, or a few I forgot about? No! They take it out on Nascar because they're lazy and don't LOOK for racing on TV...and frankly, I'm sick of it... Don't get me wrong, I watch as much racing in all series as I can... It's just like I've said before - it's mostly about the schedules. Proof, you ask? Okay, here:

To add to the schedule thing:
Champ Car: ±28 weeks - 14 races --> Televised on a race-by-race basis? YES.
Toyota Atlantic: ±20 weeks - ±20 races --> Televised? Sometimes on SPEED Channel.

Well Gordonfan24, I guess some of us here in America are likely to admit that when they watch Speed Channel, some watch it to break away from traditional American racing on ovals and drags. And in the days of Speedvision, the only real oval racing I can remember was USAR Hooter's Pro Cup. But some loyalists think that now NASCAR (as well as most just-turn-left American motorsports) dominates the lineup of programs on Speed, people think Speed Channel has gone straight to Hell, taking memories of great road racing with it.

I'm not saying I like all this Nascar, because I don't; I just don't need that much of one thing. And I agree, I miss Speedvision (even though I only saw it a few times a year when I went to my uncle's house years ago) because it wasn't dominated by Nascar. Good news though, Nascar is going to be experimenting with a new weekend schedule which now has Qualifying on Saturday for the Cup series. That gets rid of those Friday afternoon qualifying shows. 👍 but also takes away the Saturday coverage...👎 [Maybe it'll be shown on NBC & FOX, because directly following qualifying is the Busch race...]

And talking about Speed Channel, I'm not the only one that finds Speed News: Nascar Edition unnecessary...am I?
And they can stop with the "Nascar Live" Updates every 10 minutes too! Frankly, and as a Nascar fan, I don't want to hear about what every team is doing every 10 minutes. If I wanted to know that, I'd go to the track... It just doesn't seem necessary to me.

"Speed News: NASCAR Edition" should probably not be side-to-side with Speed News. Here's what they should have done. Cover NASCAR in one segment, post resuls of national series online, and leave all the other racing tidbits in the show. If a race like Le Mans is the hot topic, that should be the hot topic from the start. There are bigger events than NASCAR events. Then again, I would like to see Speed News talk about the Nurburgring 24h maybe, but I usually don't want to know who won. And don't give me the "R" word in talking about what races outdo others in the world.

That "R" word? Ratings.

👍 Did you see the 30-minute show that Speed showed covering all 24 hours of the race? I would've like to have seen more that that. It's amazing how many entrants there were! ±250! Now that's a race.

Yeah that would have to be one of the best 24 hour races, so many people on such a long track, there would have to be soimething happening most of the time

At least you got to see some of it. We get no Nurburgring coverage here. If we look hard enough and are patient we can find half an hour each of the Le Mans and Spa 24 hour races each year.

I guess you're right, I am kinda lucky in getting to see some of the race. I don't remember seeing Spa, I might have missed it, but I did see the LeMans race. Speed Channel covered it in "sections". They'd show an hour or two, show the usual Speed shows, then go back to the race. It wasn't bad. 👍
