i bought my PS3 really on a whim with out even thinking about GT5. i was just wanting to play the new games that werent going to be on PS2 anymore. when i found out GT5P was being released in japan months after i bought it i realized hey another great game to add to the collection. so i bought my PS3 for the use of playing MANY games not just GT5. though it does seem the GT5P has been the game that has gotten the most use.

No I also bought it for Ratchet. He is sooo freaking hawt in Tools of Destruction.

Gran Turismo is definitely always one of the main reasons I buy the Playstation systems though.

Yep, I too bought the PS3 soley with GT5(p) in mind and a big new TV and a G25. But given the amount of hours I've used the system so far (to play games and watch movies), all that only costs me about € 2,- per hour. :dopey:

I bought it for GT5:P, and happy to play Prologue until the full thing.

I bought the PS3 for the total concept. So many good games to play and movies to watch. Racing is only part of my gaming interests.

Bought for GT5P and Blueray capability.

I do own Ferarri Challenge, but haven't played it for months.

I bought mine to be a Blu-Ray player and eventually eventually play GT5. I bought Prologue but became bored with it and traded it in, I don't think I would ever buy a system for just one half-game. Surprisingly I've found other games that I enjoy playing on the PS3 in the mean time but it's primary function will pretty much always be a Blu-Ray/DVD player

I always planned to buy a PS3 eventually, but was moved to my decision by GT5P. I also own F1:CE which I have played once. In May.

I knew I was moving into a new place soon so I needed a DVD/BluRay/Media device as powerful as the PS3, I've owned a PS1 and 2 and had tonnes of games for each but the one that was always being played long after the rest had died was GT1/2/3/4 etc.

I've been entertained enough by GT5P since May and never felt the need to buy another game for it, although I full appreciate the quality of games like Little Big Planet, WipeoutHD. In an ideal situation for me I would buy and have time for such games a swell like I did in the past, but these days not so much. However I did justify the purchase of the PS3 to myself thinking I would end up with GT5P, eventually GT5 (didn't realise the wait would be so long) and a handful of my other favourites like F1 games, Mortal Kombat games and Wipeout.

EDIT: Your poll doesn't have the option "Yes, and I am still happy with my decision and just playing GT5P", because that is what I would choose.

All the best

Bought the PS3 for GT5P and only that. After some disappointment with the online racing I have also purchased F1CE and Ferrari Challenge. Played them once or twice and settled for GT5P, the others just don't interest me.
I also bought Warhawk on a cheap special for the bluetooth headset as a report stated that one of the PS3 updates would give us in game chat. That turned out to be another wild exaggeration from the Sony marketing department. :dunce:

I purchased my PS3 purely for GT5P and now because of no decent updates I now have a £299 paper weight sittting on my desk due to the fact the game is now played to death and quite frankley BORING.

Anybody else on here just buy a PS3 for GT5P and now feel a little cheated with the fact that we may have to wait 12 months for the full game to come out?

You know there are tons of great, even GOD LIKE PS3 games... I think it's major fail just to buy expensive piece of equipment just to play one game. It's not the fail for the company.. its the fail of the person. But of course I am not pointing a finger at anyone ;)

I mainly bought the PS3 for GT5P.
I wanted a racing sim because track days were becoming abit on the expensive side.
It fulfilled my needs so far 👍
But nothing beats the real experience.
Can't wait to get on track next year at Zolder , Zandvoort, TT-Assen or a couple of round around "the Ring".

i bought the ps3 for racing games.. not just for gt5 .. i have played gt5p much and i have to say i am bored of it
mostly because of the slopy online play..
and i am desperatly waithing for an new racing game.. my racing playseat and g25 isent used much theese days..

Gran Turismo is definitely always one of the main reasons I buy the Playstation systems though
same for me. i rented gt2 to play one one weekend on the kids playstation, when i hadn't even heard of gt, and was immediately hooked

bought the ps2 in anticipation of gt3, but got lots of other racing/driving games too

and so on to the ps3, with the long term plan being gt5. plenty of good games to be going on with till it arrives though

no doubt there'll be some good racing titles in the years to come. i hear simbin (makers of gt legends and gtr2) will make a game for the ps3 in due course

now that'll be something special, if their pc titles are anything to go by

And since Sony and PD know that, you would think they would treat the fans a bit better, like for instance the way Turn10 did with FM2. Actually have a site with forums that the devs participate in, being able to receive the much needed criticism can help a lot. To me I still feel extremely separated from PD, they are Japanese company making a game that only Kaz has to approve of and need no input form any others in the US, or Europe.

I most definitely bought my PS3 for GT, along with the G25. I am using it for other games as well, mostly Grand Theft. I will more than likely buy the next PS system for GT too, thats how much I love this franchise. What sucks now is that I just moved in to my new place and I haven't had time to reconstruct a decent cockpit, and because of that I haven't played GT in like 3 months!!!! Thanks to my wife for that one.

I bought my PS3 when GT5p launched in North America last spring. I also bought GTA4 at the same time.

Not having a steering wheel really put a damper on my GT5p fun, but GTA4 was great fun to play.

Then I bought and played Metal Gear Solid 4, that was also awesome.

WipeoutHD, SSF2THDR, Mega Man 9, Tekken 5, NHL09, Tiger Woods Golf 09, Warhawk, Rock Band.

Now I've finally purchased a G25 this fall and have got back into GT5p.

Seriously, if you can't find something to do with your PS3 outside of GT5p you're not trying very hard.

I bought it for GT HD and GT5 Prologue.

I also bought some games : Ferrari Challenge, Motorstorm, Sega Rallye and the Orange Box. Portal from the Orange Box is the only game I finished with Prologue. The others only lasted several days...

The main use of my PS3 is now as a media rendered for video/audio stored on my PC and streamed via DLNA/UPnP (several hours a day) and a little bit of GT5 Prologue.

I may buy the DVB-T receiver to record TV in the near future but it does not seem to be a very good at it...

I still think it is a very usefull tool :-)

I purchased it mostly for Gran Turismo 5 and GT5 Prologue, but there were lots of other games I wanted too.

GTP was the main reason I bought a PS3.
Always loved the GT series and Forza just dosent cut it.
GTP is the main game I play on PS3 cause online is crap for other games and thats when I play my 360.

I did and I feel completely cheated for various reasons.

For starters I purchased the 40GB version and now they are giving away the 80GB version with a game & Blu ray film for the same price. I realise this will always happen with consoles but in my opinion the 40GB HDD isn't big enough.

I wouldn't of minded so much if GT5P had delivered. At first I really enjoyed Prologue but I didn't realise after 8 months I would still be unable to race against my friends. I still find it farcical that I cannot race against my friends and what is even more outrageous is I have to switch my 360 on to have a private chat with my friends!

My PS3 is only being used as a Blu ray player and im getting my online enjoyment via my 360.

I bought it for GT5:P, yes, but there have been a few other games for the PS3 that caught my eye, namely, LittleBigPlanet. However, the X360 has stolen me away for the past month and a half.
