This isn't an excuse. It's called a missed opportunity. We used to have members who would turn around & even follow the cars to get a decent pic. They are the people who used to make this thread. Now you have people calling a 944 Porsche a Mazda, and then being corrected that it's a 993 from the late 70's. Bad pictures + no knowledge of cars = why we've had pictures of Cavaliers, for 🤬 sake.

.
Oh, excuse me for not knowing that a Porsche, which looks similar to a Mazda, is a 944 when I have no knowledge of that general field of cars.
I don't see you ever contributing to this thread, stop criticizing everyone else. Arrogant 🤬

Dagger started off bad, and he's one of the best spotters now. Instead of being a :censored:face, how about you acknowledge his massively grown interest and knowledge of cars?

If you want quality pictures, @McLaren and @daan, then this is simply not the thread for you.
This thread isn't for you. This thread didn't make it to 1,200 pages based on a guessing where cars were. It made based on the contributions of Doug & several others.

I could contribute to this thread as much as anyone else, but I see the quota for garbage pictures is already filled.

wow, sounds like you're having a great vacation, Beeblebrox!
and looks like a 1983 S130 280ZX non-turbo to me...
and, didn't get to go spotting yet today, though 76 degrees, warmest of year, and no chance of rain. Just after finishing tutoring my math student, made it about a mile up the road and had to stop and call my dad (mechanic) to ask if I should tow or drive home, as my front driver side brakes were squeaking god-awfully, and were engaged enough to bring me quickly to a stop once I was under a few mph. He said caliper frozen, fine to drive home... and it seemed to work itself out.. I still took the wheel off and wrenched on it a bit, but saw there was no way for me to lubricate without disassembling everything, which would mean replacing gaskets and such that I don't have on hand... went around the block, no feeling of undesired braking... may go out again now to spot some more...
but on the way to tutoring, didn't even get to a main road...

Yes, the old thread, hence why Giles created this thread.

You kids and you're inability to respond without flying off like a 6 year old. The reason why Cars in General went to the toilet bowl.

Every once in a while somebody has to chime in and tell us when our thread is going to **** because of either/both a) too many rubbish photos and b) too many rubbish cars. Don't argue, just realize that this thread is something awesome that's been going on for a long time, and a lot of people care about it even if they don't post often. While technically true, the photo is only to support the claim, please understand that you don't have to post everything here. Pick the best and leave the rest on your Flickr or whatever, and feel free to direct people there with some idea of what else you spotted but left out of DYSAGT.

Let's keep this thread awesome! (Which doesn't mean nothing but supercars...) But if you're posting like your 1000th S4, maybe we don't need to see it. In fact, we probably don't care to see it.

So, went out to see if taking my wheel off and wrenching at the caliper did the job... seems just fine now. And I saw some more cars!

Oh well. If he's going to criticize people for not knowing a car they have no interest in, never contribute to the thread, and for posting a (clear view) of a car really far away, that's too bad.

If you're referring to the Porsche gaffe, then I'd say it's best to keep quiet and let someone who knows their stuff figure it out.

Like I said, I could contribute more, but some of you already fill the thread with bad photos. No one wants to see my photos of blurred Maseratis & GT-Rs in addition to them.

The funny thing is it wasn't even really directed at him, but the guy who acted like he knew exactly what it was; wrong generation & year by miles.

But hey, since I have to contribute to comment, might as well do it right.

I didn't say anything except "is this an old Nissan or Mazda?" Someone responded with 70's Porsche, next person said another thing. I didn't say anything after that because, as before, I didn't know what it was. I was keeping quiet.

I think I'm gonna stay away from this thread for a while as I'm getting the impression that the few times I do see something; and am able to get a bad, but still recognizable picture it isn't wanted. I'll still contribute to the Dealers/Events thread. If anyone would like to see more than what I post there, along with the cars outside of shows, feel free to look at my Facebook page and Flickr(not as up to date however).

Right, but I was referring to the responder, not you. ;)

And a lot of the pictures posted here are just like that... the minority are blurred.
(speaking for myself) I prefer spots that are taken while driving, not expecting to see anything on that intersection you pass by everyday. Those, at least for me, make me feel better than the parking lot shot outside a nose and throat doctors office.

Except for the fact that that's kinda unsafe.
Which is why they're better. When I take a picture of a car while driving at over 20 mph, I'm not looking at my phone. I'm still focused on the road but angle my phone to where the car is and spam the capture button.
edit- 1/2 the time I'm stopped anyways, but it will be a little blurry if the other car is moving.

He is referring to the 70's 997 I.D.👍

If you know anything about Porsches, that's funny.

I think he means cars moving. ;)

I take pictures of moving cars while I'm out walking. Yes, I stop walking first. Totally safe!

Edit maybe I'm wrong.:scared:

Took this when I was taking a corner kinda glad I got it. If I'm driving fast I don't take pics unless I'm a passenger.
