I found him as I was driving from California to Ohio on I-80, in Wyoming just past Cheyenne/just into the Great Plains. I saw a yard full of whirlygigs and doodads, which isn't unheard of. What made me stop was also seeing the front ends of the Kaiser and Lancer. Had to continue on I-80 for another 6 miles before there was an exit, but I didn't debate whether or not checking out what I'd glimpsed was worth a 12 mile detour.
The Kaiser aka "Brute", 1952 Kaiser body with a Willy truck bed, 2 ton front end with axle lengthened a foot to match the rear also 2 ton axle. 20 inch wheels. V8 with a 3 speed going into a 5 speed International truck transmission and winch on the back. Weight: 8000 lbs.
Not much to say about "Elsie", the 1962 Dodge Lancer converted from 4 door to 2 door, except he put 100,000 miles on it in 2-door form.
The Purple People Eater... Crosley/Ford hybrid, independent suspension, front 4 turn, rear 4 drive, can take a 65% grade, do 60mph on the road, and (deflating tires to 12psi) 40mph across range.

I still don't know what all those Fiat 1100's are doing in Wyoming...
