About an hour ago I saw a Toyota Prius.

'Big deal!' I hear you say.

Yeah but this was high shine, gloss black with light window tints, tinted rear light clusters, lowered by 40-45 mm and to top it off it had a set of 17" Azev alloys.

I was quite impressed at how good it actually looked. 👍

Damn I wish I had my camera. :grumpy:
I'm gonna have to get a new mobile phone with a camera instead.

Words cannot describe how much I lol-ed. The Chevy Optra is sold in America. It is called the Suzuki Forenza. No one buys them because the only cars sold in America that they are better than is the Focus and Caliber. There is nothing inherently wrong with them like there is with the Caliber, but they are also still, at their core, rebadged Daewoos. And Daewoo was laughed out of America with cars strikingly similar to the Lacetti.
Seriously, though, you make it sound as the Lacetti/Optra/Forenza is GM's version of the Euro Focus. Which is comically untrue when the car is, at best, a 3rd or 4th string compact; and at worst a Daewoo. The chassis is good, the interior isn't horrendous (sadly a plus in America) and it is light weight. It lags in nearly every other category, particularly the poor tranny and outdated engine.

Well I only said what I had said thinking mainly of the European Focus, as it is tons and tons better than the lump we have here. I was also slightly thinking about the Mondeo too, as it is much better looking than what Ford sells here in the US. GM is not near as bad about not bringing cars from their other branches as Ford is. I really had no idea what the Chevy in the picture was, but from that picture it appears to be much better looking than most of what Chevy has out now.

I'm so glad I stopped to take a piss, although I was tempted to film it while driving but I was too busy gawking. It did have the carbon sideblade thing though, but I forgot to get a pic of it. Although I ended up seeing two more at goodwood but it's not the same I guess. Also there was some dude asleep in the S3 next to it. They were all traveling in a group to goodwood, which included that Cayman, lots of S type audis and a w12 Phaeton which was so nondescript that I didn't notice it untill I passed the lot of em.

 That looks so much more expensive than it is.

It's much better looking in the metal but oh so hotttt. Also G.T should post the pics of the two E46 M3 CSL's we saw in the goodwood carpark when we were trudging around looking for my car. There were so many awesome cars that I managed to miss because my stupid camera battery died halfway through the day.

Anyway who cares about R8's it's all about the JDM hotness.

Japanese spec AW11 Supercharger, we never got these in europe!

I've also got a video of a landrover sport towing a boat, but it's got me talking and mixing up landrover and rangerover or whatever.

Edit: Oooh I think I can see the Phaeton in the first and last shots of the R8 actually. It just looks like a friggin passat it's so dull.

Psh, i see one of those in my driveway everyday! :)

It's defiantly an engine swap though, not an original supercharged mr2. All factory supercharged models were T-top only, and thats a hardtop. Looks like it was an 87-89 NA, and then he changed the brake lights to 87+ (I don't think Europe ever got those because of the shape of your plates), the engine lid and added the supercharged decals, hopefully it's really got a 4agze in it.

Are you sure thats not just in america? These two guys have hardtop SC's and they both have the same rear lights as well.

Oops, kinda missed the imported from Japan thing. That would explain the 87+ tails. And Japan might have been lucky enough to get hardtop SC's.
I do know that in the US all superchargers had t-tops for sure.

It seems most of the people on the clubsites with SC's have T-tops, but there are the odd one or two with hardtop ones. Japan is pretty much the only place that gets an actual full tintop version tho, in europe we get the choice of a T-top or one with a sunroof for some reason.

Very nice spots chaser! 👍 The Skylines are beautiful and the Chasers appear to be very nice also, though I do not know much about the cars.

I didn't have my camera on me today but I saw a black Supra pass by on the other side of the highway. It was nice, it's a rare spot for me!

Not that it necessarily means anything, but I'm planning on scoping a lot of stuff out when on vacation. South Beach should have plenty of good stuff to see, and my brother and I are planning on hitting-up the local exotic dealers (The Collection alone will have Ferrari, Maserati, Porsche, Lotus, Jaguar, Aston Martin, and Audi!).

...If I can figure out a way to get photos here while I'm there, I will try to do it...

From the last two days...

That's going to be an SLR, two F430 Spiders, a Shelby GT500, a Corvette convertible, and a Bentley Brooklands.

Now I know what you're thinking. 'Cheap spot, Doug - you saw that SLR two days ago.' Ah - nope. Folks you're looking at SLR number two in three days. That one had Kansas tags, visible in many of the shots - this one was local...

gt500-062307.jpg

Another INCREDIBLE night - three Testarossas, two SLRs, ten Ferraris and a Shelby Mustang in the last four days.

No pics, but I saw a bright yellow Lotus Esprit V8, it was going the other way so no time to grab the camera... But man, that car stood out very nicely. The yellow paint is so damn bright, it seemed as if it was illuminated.

Ouch.

Sure, the structure may come off a bit "loose" at times, but it isn't the worst I've heard about. The biggest surprise has always been that the slushbox model is apparently the better choice over those with a stick... Still, its certainly one quick car, and will hang with the best of them at a good price.

I should clarify: I like the way the car looks. The Solstice/Sky is one of the best-looking cars ever sold by an American car company. Beyond that, I am thoroughly unimpressed with it's Fisher Price interior, harsh engine (which feels nothing like the claimed 260HP, and just forget about the limp-wristed 170HP version), and sloppy steering. That's just me, though; I'm not the biggest fan of the way American cars drive or handle.

Now THATS a good spot. I have only seen the tail end of one and for you to get picture of a decent model, wow. Mainly because it was only produced from 82-84 and they had low production numbers AND they didnt sell well.

Thanks! 👍 I had seen it before, but had no chance at a photo. I was expecting "2.2turbo" or something, but the image doesn't lie....

I'm so glad I stopped to take a piss, although I was tempted to film it while driving but I was too busy gawking.

Dude, don't ever film that while driving. Just don't film that ever. Oh, and don't forget to tell us about the Cayman with the Gulf stripes in shot #2.

What? I park like that all the time. :odd:

EDIT: by the way, I've been out of town, but TO HARRY----

+rep for the CLK Black Series spot!!! Hands down one of the best spots this summer in this thread - a very very very incredible automobile, to me, but even if it were crap kudos on already seeing one. And I was proud of myself for seeing the new Taurus and a new Altima Coupe on the road - those things aren't half the rare that the CLK is! Thanks for sharing.

It took three passes to get it. The car was in a cash-up-front parking lot, and the only view I had was the on-ramp to a 2-lane highway. I had to wait until I was at the back of the oncoming traffic so I could slow down enough. Not reccomended for trying at home. Of course, I could have paid the $5....

Wow. It really gets no better than tonight. There's always the Vanquish, the Veyron, the Enzo - but the SLR is right up there with the greats.

👍

See? Aren't stories fun? :D That one was particularly cool. +repcats

Bentley Continental GTC

You think they could put more flags on that block? It's only 100' wide. And just in case you were confused: ONE WAY.

Bentley Turbo something-or-other

I swear Bentleys were actually rare 5 years ago. Then the Continental GT comes out and BAM everyone has to have a Bentley. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it kind of takes away the exclusivity. Seeing these, at least, is proof that RR-era Bentleys are still appreciated by some over the Audi-era oversized Passat's.

(2) Porsche 911 Turbo 997

Different 911's, same color. Note: In the second photo, I was not driving, nor did I just crash.

Porsche 911 Turbo 993

Not 100% convinced it's a real turbo. Aftermarket wheels are a possible giveaway, and the exhaust was louder than I remember from 993's. It did have the proper 'turbo' on the back, though. Any ideas?

Ferrari Mondial 3.2 Spider

Part of my "Look ma, no eyes on the camera!" series. The badging just makes it, though.

Ferrari 430

Stopped, dropped off his friend, sped off. Never saw him again. Mission accomplished.

Audi S8 2007

I've been seeing a 2007 S8 almost every day for three weeks now, always on the same road, but it's always travelling in the opposite direction I am. This is not that car, but it's an S8 nevertheless. Amazingly, I saw it through the trees and below me beyond that embankment ahead of the car. Didn't need no stinkin' badging, though.

Lamborghini Murcielago

I had never seen a Murcielago until Friday. A few Gallardos, a Countach 20 years ago, and that's about it (on the road, at least). The northeast US has no love for the raging bull (which is ironic, if you think about it). Naturally, I heard this guy before I saw him, thinking it was some riced-out Civic. I figured I'd look anyway "just in case". It was 7:30 in the morning and he parked across the parking lot, helping his girlfriend get her luggage out from the front compartment. Not an easy job. For some reason, the photo I took then was fuzzier than a wooly bear. Since he left after I realized this, I was pissed. Amazingly, I happened to be there when he picked her up at the end of the day. I could have left where I was earlier, but chose to hang out for a few more minutes. Pure chance. He left not 20 seconds after taking this photo.
